Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

The weapons locker held little for Katara, save for Gran-gran's betrothal necklace and a pouch for her water. She'd have to ask where the water was, if any on the ship. She was about to wander aimlessly when she spotted a familiar face coming toward her.

"Sokka!" She was glad to see him! For the first few minutes everything was so unfamiliar she thought she was close to losing it. But if Sokka were here, surely some of the others had to be too, right? She hugged him, then let him go. "I'm so glad you're here too! This place, its so incredible! I'm not a science guy like you, but I think its safe to say we're not in any of our nations."

She looked around at the others. "Let's ask them if they know anything about where we are! I think they were hatched too."

"Katara! Hey!" He returned the hug, almost crushing the younger girl against him. At least she was here. And now that she was here, it was his job to make sure she stayed safe and sound. Not that he was going to say that out loud. She would start talking and blabbing about how she could take care of herself and so on and so forth and he would never hear the end of it. So he just did his best to convey that protectiveness and love though his hug.

He released her after a moment, nodding.

"Yeah, I don't think we're anywhere near the four nations, Katara. This is seriously, seriously weird. I mean...I've never seen anything like this, ever!"

"Me neither," Katara said, noticing the immediate protectiveness. At this point, she wasn't going to shrug him off. Even SHE didn't know what to expect,m and with no water, it wasn't as if she could defend herself now. "Did you get a look at the things we popped out of? This can't be anything like where we're from. Actually, from what I've seen, its like that alien thing Toph made our sword out of."

Katara took a breath. "Did you see anyone we know?"

"I got out of there as fast as I could," Sokka admitted, shivering a bit. "That room? Super creepy. Creepy beyond reason, even."

He pulled his sword part way from it's scabbard, examining the blade and comparing it to the walls for a moment.

"Uh, sorry to say, whatever this place is, it's almost like it's alive. Nothing like the rock I made my space sword out of..." He paused a moment, then shook his head.

"I haven't..."

"I ran too, but...I figured it might be a good idea if I see hat kind of place we're in. I wanted it to be a crazy adventure we were pulled to, but this is nothing we've ever seen. I mean, something was talking to me...in my mind."

Sokka was always the first to discount something that sounded vaguely magical, but it was the truth.

"I'm with you. It definitely feels alive. We don't even need Toph to verify that. What I want to know is, why us? Why here? And if we're here, where is Aang?"

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh...yeah. I heard the voice too. It was...um...really, kind of freaky. How do you talk to someone in their mind? I don't like this place at all. It's too strange."

He began to pace up and down, deep in thought.

"Well, so far we're the only two here. So maybe it wants people from the Water Tribe for some reason."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Katara sighed. "Not arguing with you there. Still, Aang had to go through stuff like this all the time with spirits. Maybe we just have to look at it that way. I mean, I don't like being here anymore than you do, but there's no point in freaking out about it."

Not outwardly, anyway. Katara was MORE than willing to freak out inside.

"But Aang is the Avatar. If we were served for a greater purpose, it would want him, wouldn't it? It wanted me, and I'm a master warerbender, and it wanted you, and you're a really good swordsman. Why stop there?"

For now, she'd serve Sokka's ego. For now.

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Spirits? Spirits are just plain aggravating. From what Aang tells me they're all about riddles and questions and never give a straight answer. Plus remember that owl? What if the spirits here are like that?" He grouched, his cynical nature getting the best of him in this odd situation.

"And I don't know! I'm just trying to come up with a plausible explanation for all this..."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Katara rolled her eyes. "Well, what do you call a strange voice telling us she's our momma and we're here for a greater purpose? You don't exactly get more vague than that!

Not that she thought this Stacey was a spirit, but she wasn't going to tell her brother that. Who knew what this Stacey was, and why she was able to talk to them through their mind? None if this made any sense.

"So am I. For once we're both WAY out of our comfort zone."

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. About as vague as can be, really." He grumbled again, staring out the Obs Deck window.

"Okay, imagine my comfort zone is in, oh the South Pole. Now imagine that we are at the North Pole. That's how far out of my comfort zone I am right now, Katara."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara sighed. "Sorry. we shouldn't be fighting right now. This is all very new and very ssary. Let's just...take it as it comes. To start, we can ask around the ship about what's happening. I'm sure we'll be able to figures something out, right?"

Katara nodded. That was pretty far.
