Agrestic might have had might farmer's market and produce that would rival the best farms,but for a wunderkind, this wasn't anything she might have really liked. Food? Pah! She was content with the slop and whatever she could pull off in the sensoriums. After taking a stop at the weapons, she was busy looking at all the boutiques and large items and see what she could barter off and find. There were ingredients to collect and rare crystals to find so she could build more things that could be helpful to the war and dangerous to their enemies.

Maybe she could make something like the Black Obelisks again...only this time with less energy draining of the area. She had a feeling Stacy wouldn't be too happy about something taking away from her own energy.

Maybe even a hot tub...look, she had super important priorities, okay. Priorities that included hot tubs.

"I figured especially if you're gonna be getting in a fight or something, it'd be easier on you." And that seriously had been his motivation -- after all, the side-slits in the long dresses bared more than enough leg that he didn't need to put her in short things to get his ogling in.

As for situations where she would both want to wear a dress and start fighting... hey, they might go to a dance or something. Zetta maintained hope that as Lash became more aware that she was actually female she might wake up to being both badass and stylish both.

(She'd developed excellent taste in swimwear, after all.)

"I got you a couple bracelets too. Woefully crappy stats, but they look nice."

"I don't know how I'd feel about fighting in a dress," Lash admitted. Granted, she was just imagining herself in something Victoria would wear and how the whole idea was ridiculous to her. Just give her some time. It would happen one day. For now, she was awkward city.

(Hey considering what she wore in Black Hole normally, it was just a natural flow of things. The fact Zetta liked it was a very good bonus.)

"Bracelets..." she repeated. "Oh yeah! Girls wear that on their arms, right? I saw a few girls on the ship wear them."

Oh god Lash you could be so dense sometimes.

"Well, think of it like a cape. You let off some massive discharge and things blow up, and it billows dramatically. Just around your legs instead of your back." Style was everything, you know.

"Well, ONE of these is a wrist bracelet, the other is an ankle bracelet. Why not mix it up, I figured. Go for complete fashionable asymmetry."

"Maybe I should get a cape too..." Lash no. Lash no.

"Huh? I didn't know they made bracelets for ankles...but that does make sense. If you have ones around the neck and hands, why not the legs too..." She looked at her stuff again and thought about it. "Do you...want me to get them out and try it on?"

The book frowned. "No. You're a long coat girl. That's the accepted long-flowing-garment for scientist types. Mainly because it has more pockets and stuff. Pockets in a cape look lame."

Even as the Overlord offered his expert opinion, one of the minions stepped forward to offer up a pair of jewelry cases. Yes, these bracelets were badass enough to need cases. The Overlord didn't think small (or cheap) when it came to his lady.

"But wouldn't a cape make it even better?" No. Thankfully she was quickly distracted by the SHINY STUFF.

In which case, an over-sized box that should not be holding an ordinary bracelet. It didn't disappoint either, as Lash silently took it and stared, without much emotion.

Then her lower lip began to tremble a little.

"I thought you'd like that one," the book proclaimed proudly. He was grateful she'd opened the wrist one first -- the ankle one, while still pretty cool, wasn't quite THAT cool. "Also I figured it was big enough you could put a taser in it or something."

Lash didn't reply. She was still looking at the large spider bracelet, as her lip continued to tremble, and she closed her eyes.

"Uh. I didn't trigger some horrible memories or something, did I?" The book glanced around uneasily. "I'm having a hard time telling if you're overwhelmed because it's an awesome gift or a terrible one. So, uh, if you could just give me a sign here..."

Just a little more before the lips parted and her body began to move a little as she fought back the sniffles and the tears, but it was too late.

Guess A proved to be the right one.

"No one's given me presents like that before! I, I...Aaaaa--" Oh there went the waterworks. If this was a comedy show, the camera would have panned in the back a little for dramatic effect as she clutched the bracelets with both hands and very pathetically sniffled and cried for one of the only times in her life. Certainly the first in happiness, regardless. It left her even more confused. She sniffed a little more before adding,

"Why am I cryyyying?!" Okay it was kinda pathetic in it's own way. She used her coat to clear away her eyes. "Why would I be crying? This is so dumb!" Enjoy the full spectrum of a human's emotional range, Lash.

Remarkably, the Overlord's first instinct was not to recoil, or complain, but rather to give the poor girl a hug. Which he couldn't do, of course --

His leader minion, unhelpfully misinterpreting his thoughts, took a step over and leaned the book against the side of Lash's head.

"Uh."

It's okay, Lash just hugged the book anyway, her TOTALLY SWEET NEW PIMPING BRACELET already around her arm. Now if she could stop sniffling it would be okay.

"I think I need a tissue."

At least she wasn't trying to grab one of his pages for one.

The minions started turning apart their pockets for handkerchiefs... though considering how many of them barely wore CLOTHES, this seemed unlikely.

"Hey, get used to it," Zetta said. "If you're gonna be my girlfriend, then I'm gonna give you nice stuff. That's just how it goes. Aaanyway, I'm glad you liked them?"

"Yeah I know it's just the first time or something and..." Sniff. Okay she had it under control, and just used her coat instead. "I really do. I dunno what came over me."

Zetta considered this for a moment, and then decided to be deliberately horrible. "Oh, well, they say your first time is always special," he said leering at her.

It took her a few seconds to understand exactly what Zetta meant. Slow on the uptake there, Lash.

..When she did, however, the wunderkind gave a small yelp, and dropped the book again.

"Hyaaa ha ha ha--" thump.

"H-hey! I was just distracting you from being all upset and stuff!"

"Yeah well you still deserved that for what you said anyway." Lash was going to stick to that argument, even if she went and picked him right up afterwards. Good thing he suspected nothing!

"So anyway uh...since we're not on the ship, just between us, things have been getting kinda weird, huh?"

"It's just a present, Lash, I don't think it makes things weird between us..." Zetta had completely misconstructed the grammar of her sentence and consequently eyed her in quiet alarm and growing horror. This wasn't a break-up speech or something, was it?!

"What? No! I meant on the ship!" she explained. "The way people have been lately...not between us!" She really hadn't meant it that way! Honest!

"Jeez, scare a guy," Zetta said, exhaling and visibly relaxing. "What, you mean with everyone seeming like they want to start a giant fight for the fate of the ship?"

"Yeah exactly," she said nodding, moving closer to him as if whispering would somehow make it that less people heard. "Doesn't take a Wunderkind to know something's gonna budge soon and it might be both good and bad..."

"Yeah... hey Lash, just so you know? I'm in favor of breaking from the Daligig. I still say they're gonna turn out to be the bad guys in all this," he whispered right back. "So if I'm saying other stuff where they can hear me... it's just an act, okay? Don't think I mean any of it."

She tilted her head without changing her expression.

"Well duh! I figured that out a while ago," she replied with a grin. "You're pretty easy to read sometimes with stuff like this." If she could pinch his cheeks, she would have but, well, book. Nothing much to pinch there. "Still, I can't believe the Daligig might be the villains, mind you. Always saw them as the Ends Justify The Means guys. Very Black Hole-ish in their way of operating, you know? Tee hee either way, we get a war and that's all that counts in the end. As long as nothing's boring I'm in!"

"Just making sure. I'll probably have to say some pretty disgusting crap if I want to be on their good side," Zetta said, with a grimace. "And, uh... "

Your opinion of me really matters to me was the sentiment he was going for, but there was absolutely no Overlordly way to express that. Not that he could think of, not with those feelings clouding up his though process.

"Damn it," the book grumbled. "I didn't miss my body so much before, but now..."
