The Day. The Drama. The...love, we hope.
Who: Ronnae, Billy, and various wedding guests!
Where: In Light's Hope Chapel, with party to follow at the Drunken Dragon Tavern.
What: Two are getting married. Will someone faint from shock? Will anything break? Will it be a happy night? Stay tuned!
After preparation, anticipation, and vivid memories of nights they won't soon forget, Ronnae and Billy are finally ready for a little ceremony.'Little' was what they had in mind, but there was a chance it could end up being a relative term.
The location was the Light's Hope Chapel in the City, a tiny little place with enough memorial statues and open space to give a majestic, hopeful atmosphere. There were no singing birds or bright skies, just a little shelter from the world in which to have a dedication as lifemates. That would be more than enough for them.
What were the right words to say? The ins and outs of dancing? The foods on the table? Theyd' find out soon enough, creating a day to remember. Whether that remembrance was fairy-tale sweet or a simple overcoming of the odds would remain to be seen.

He gestured for his friend to sit down, offering the drinks. "I couldn't. People were counting on me---if not for myself and Ronnae, for the opportunity to have a party afterward. No wedding, no party. Actually, I think that was the main motivation."
no subject
Nokosi plopped down in a chair and eyed the drink warily before accepting it. "That is an odd reason to have a party...why not just throw a party, then? One does not need a reason to celebrate, I think; living would be reason enough."

He shook his head, gazing out at the little crowd. "People like to feel that what they're doing means something, I think."

Billy's explanation received a strange look in reply--one that spoke of bland surprise and disbelief. "Honestly?" He looked back out to the scattered people partaking in the drinks, food and dance and consciously marked that most of them were Human.
"Hm. I do not think I can clearly understand that line of thought, as there is a lot of meaning to find in our day-to-day lives, If one bothers looking for it. I suppose this would be reason enough, though I will not pretend to understand this certain ritual."
no subject
In any case, he looked at Nokosi thoughtfully. "You know? You're right. Things don't have to be mundane, and we've had days that will mean more than this. Days when we laugh without embarrassing ourselves, for example."
His favorite! "I suppose it's really a selfish instinct. I wanted a day to claim for us, even if no one can really do that. To make a mark in my memories."

Every time they ever interacted, it seemed. But in an odd sort of way he'd miss it if it stopped. "If that's the case, maybe I should start showing you some more traditions. Do you think Ronnie would be upset if I surprised her?"
He smiled, turning his mug in his hand as he thought. There were some fun ones he hadn't tried!

It really was the story of his life, but it was also the thing that fueled his curiosity, as being told that something was different often meant that there was knowledge to glean.
"I think I would enjoy learning more of...Earth? Human traditions and comparing them to my own." His second question received a furrowed brow of obvious confusion, as he couldn't quite figure out how it tied to the first statement.
"No? She will probably get bashful due to a surprise, but that is the reaction we expect from her in many situations."

This time, he hoped he could teach Nokosi something interesting. He smiled at the answers he received, ready to show just how they were related.
"Then come watch. There's an Earth wedding tradition that I think you'll find interesting."
He beckoned for his friend to follow, where he joined Ronnae and a scattered few guests near the cake. It looked like they were getting hungry---a perfect time to cut it! If he waited any longer, he'd lose the chance. Stepping forward, he picked up the little knife and offered it to his mate.
"Er---hey, Ronnie," he blushed. "I can't believe I almost forgot this! We're supposed to cut the cake together, did I tell you?"
He conveniently forgot to mention the other part.

She got close to the table and looked back at him, "So, what do we have to do love?" she asked curiously.
no subject
He smiled happily at Ronnae, moving their hands toward making two neat slices to start. Oh, what fun he would have! The cake looked delicious. He was sure she would love it...if not the method.
no subject
"Like this?" she asked as they cut the cake together slowly, Ronnae wanting to make sure everything went good and in order.
no subject
There was always a towering, perfect cake at the few weddings he'd attended. He'd have to ask about it later.

Once they had two slices, Billy picked up a small one. It was fairly neat---simple white frosting, marble cake. Grinning, he lifted it close to Ronnae's mouth expectantly.
"To a happy future shared." Hopefully she'd get the idea without too much explaining.
no subject
"Oh, ah, y-yeah." she said sheepishly as she opened her mouth to take a small bite of the cake. So many people around! Ah!
no subject
"How is it? Good?"

Please, Ronnie, please don't guess about the tradition of smashing cake more violently, he thought. He didn't need icing up his nose.

Taking his friend's hint, Nokosi turned, sliced a piece of cake, and held it up to Billy's mouth, an expectant look on his face.
"I think what most Humans say at this point is 'aaah', or 'open wide for the tram!' But to be fair, I have only heard the latter spoken to children."
no subject
Oh how she wished she had a camera, but she will definitely draw this later in her sketchbook when she has a chance to do so!

He opened and closed his mouth a few times before settling. "...well, I am hungry and Ronnie's indisposed."
Just this once, Nokosi. Just for you. He opened his mouth obediently.
no subject
Nokosi pushed the cake forward, making sure his long fingers were out of reach anywhere where Billy might have been able to bite.
"Yum! I bet Ronnae is right about how good it tastes."

Something about the scene also made her cheeks turn red and her mind went places she wouldn't be talking about anytime soon. All that came out of her lips was a small whisper she didn't even know she spoke, "So c-cute"
no subject
He finally swallowed and nodded, trying not to blush too much. "Yeah, it is. You should try some!"
Well, if they were going to get some amusement out of this miscommunication, maybe they should pass it around. He winked, looking between his two friends. Come on...
