Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Hawke was angry. He still wasn't even sure if he was alive or not, but the one thing he did know was that he wanted some answers. Head voices were not satisfactory and completely unacceptable, and to top it all off, his clothes were pulsating.

Maybe this was hell, after all.

He took to stalking the Observation Deck, trying his best to look intimidating despite his general discomfort, searching the crowd for anyone he might know--even if he was dead and they were...probably not. Who even knew anymore? Certainly not him.

The best thing to do, he decided, was to find someone with answers. "I need to speak with someone in charge."

So, you know, he could pinpoint their weaknesses and figure out the best way to depose them.

Sofia hadn't been to a poddrop yet, but after talking with Alena during the unexpected surprised, figured she might as well make it more of a normal visit and hope that one day some of her friends were going to be awoken.

This was not one of those days. Instead, she finds herself with a strange man demanding to speak with those in charge. If she crossed her eyes he could almost be Psaro.

"We have Councilmen who can answer any question you may need answered," she explained, standing close to him, her sword behind her back.

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah." He turned to find a young girl that he looked up and down before considering his answer. What an archaic weapon. Well, he supposed the afterlife didn't really segregate by when you died. There were all kinds of strange people and creatures in this uncomfortable, pulsating room.

"Names, please. Would you direct me to them?"

[identity profile] zenithianhero.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
You were just jealous of her and the fact she actually had clothing on along with the suit. Even if it was pretty fancy. At least he was polite and not demanding that he be led everywhere. With a wave of her fingers, she pointed to the giant draconian.

"Kang is one of the Council Members. He helped me with questions when I was first appeared here as well. There is also captain of the ship, Leon." but there were too many people for her to point effectively at him. "...usually he will address the new arrivals, and will also answer questions."

DID YOU WANT MORE.

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, totally jealous

He did, however, appreciate the girl's succinctness and clarity. The last thing he wanted was someone who was going to beat around the bush about everything. This was admittedly very favorable--as favorable as being dead got, anyway.

"I would like to speak to the captain."

It seemed like a good place to start.

[identity profile] zenithianhero.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah that's what she thought.

Turning around she looked for the captain, before giving him a tiny shrug. "I unfortunately do not see him. Perhaps if you were to go ask Kang, he would be able to better answer you where Leon is."

She was being very helpful, or at least trying.

Billy had arrived with omnicoms in hand, making sure everyone received the information they needed. When that was done, he started searching for others who might need more help. His eyes kept flicking back to the still intimidating-looking person stalking the deck, but not because he seemed lost.

He seemed familiar.

Oh! This was Hawke, one of Lash's friends. After how miserable she'd been when he last saw her, she would be delighted.

"I'm only in charge of the Engineering department, but I can direct you to someone on the command staff. She's not here at the moment, but I think she knows you."

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. People who were in charge. Maybe now he'd get to find out what this place was, and if he was really dead after all.

"You could direct me to the captain." His voice was flat, deadpan, and emotionless.

Of all things, he did not expect to be recognized, and for a moment Hawke looked slightly bewildered. This boy had to be mistaken. "You think someone knows me?"
morphitudinous: (Hearin' your song)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2011-10-01 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Captain Kennedy should be around here somewhere. There's a picture of him on your omnicom, I believe. He might be busy, though. I'm here to recruit engineers for the most part, but I can help look if you need to speak to him."

For now, he could explain something a little more relevant. "Yeah, I've seen you in a simulation once or twice. You know a woman named Lash, don't you? Sporting an afro and very fond of explosions?"

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Omnicomm. Right. Those devices they'd been issued--Hawke hadn't thought much of them, but if they could be used to find other crewmates, then perhaps they would be useful.

Yes. He did know someone named Lash, someone who sported an afro and was very font of explosions. His face instantly hardened as he tried to make sense of the information he'd just been given. "Yes. I am her commanding officer."

Or was, considering the fact that he was probably dead.
morphitudinous: (Serious)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2011-10-01 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy was glad to confirm that. That would make things slightly easier. "Then you're Commander Hawke," he said. He wasn't sure on the title, but that had to be close. This would help Lash, he was sure of it.

"Lash is an ensign in the ship structure and one of my coworkers in the engineering department. She'd probably want to kill me if she knew I was telling you this, but she'd really like to see you."

She recognized him, obviously. One of those people from Black Hole, the guy that seemed like he never smiled or whatever. It was a "whatever," but she was actually pretty pleased to find him here: at least now Lash didn't have a reason to be all mopey.

She wanted Lash, like Ruff, happy as possible, so they could find more stuff to do. Unlike those two guys, if she was feeling down she could fight it away. None of that coddling crap for her.

"Of the ship? There are a few figureheads, but I doubt hey'll tell you anything different from what you already know. You can ask any one of us, after all. Now me, I know you: you're Hawke, right?"

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
More children. More people that not only recognized him, but knew his name. It was disquieting, to say the least, not that Hawke would ever let it show on his face. Not that he'd ever let anything show on his face that wasn't stern discomfort.

"You would be the second person to inform me of that, yes," he said, the usual apathy lacing his voice.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Tsh. Well thanks for the gratitude, stony face. Why she wants to see you guys so bad is beyond me: that girl I fought in the simulation was a lot more fun. But whatever, not my world. Aren't you interested in meeting her, or at least what the fuck you're facing? I hope she hasn't been souping up your skills: it'd suck to know how slow they are because of pod pop."

Yes,s he was deliberately needling him. Why?

Because Lash would probably do the same thing. And if she wouldn't? Well, it was just FUN.

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hawke, however, remained stoic and apparently unflappable, even if this snot-nosed little brat's words certainly infuriated him on the inside. He carefully considered her for a moment before deciding to throw her words right back, calmly and cooly.

"Are you her friend? I hope she hasn't been picking up your insolence."

Very polite, Hawke.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
"She picks up what she wants, I'm not the boss of her," Hit Girl said, flat put ignoring the whole insolence thing. Was this guy really Lash's commanding officer? How did she stand it? He seemed...so much less cooler than her, all uppity and arrogant like some fatcat. Ugh, she hoped not.

"She's become a respected member of the crew though, and she's pretty awesome at that. So if that's insolence, its a lot better than the alternative. Sure as hell gets questioned answered."

Yeah, don't be mature or anything, Hit Girl.

"You mean like the captain?" a voice piped up.

Hello Hawke, you have a child pestering you.

"I dunno where he is, he's probably around somewhere. I guess you could always talk to Kang."

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Like the captain."

GREAT. More kids. This was exactly what Hawke needed. Definitely. His expression said as much, but then again, his default expression was one of mild disgust. At all times.

"Nobody can seem to tell me where he is."

[identity profile] obscura-prodigy.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Vega shrugged, his piloting jacket bunching around his shoulders.

"He's my friend's dad and he should be around cause there's new people up. Like you. Who're you?"

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Should be around. But apparently wasn't. No matter. Hawke was sure he'd find this Leon guy one way or another.

"Commander Hawke."

[identity profile] obscura-prodigy.livejournal.com 2011-10-09 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Vega stretched, settling his hands behind his neck and elbows in the air.

"I'm Vega. I've been around here basically forever." He squinted around the obs deck, trying to locate the captain.

"Guess you could talk to Kang. He's pretty important."

And a lot harder to lose track of, what with being huge and dragonish.

"I'M NOT IN CHARGE!" The talking pink pony volunteered.

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh

God

What

Was that.

Maybe this was hell, after all.

[identity profile] mylittlelolny.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It was

your worst nightmare.

"HI, mister! You must be new here, too! My name's Pinkie Pie and I'm here to be your friend!"

Run, Hawke. Run while you can.

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2011-10-08 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. This was the part where Hawke just kind of

slowly

backed

away.
