Being sent off into the unknown was part of the risks that being on the ship had brought them. Thankfully they were getting a chance to stock up before heading out.

But just what was waiting out there?

[[Just so you all know, this is bendy time for around the 12th on the meatship, so those who were hurt during the battle should be much, much better. This is also the only post that will be open to both groups before they split off, and anyone who wishes to see them off can do so. In fact, it's encouraged!]]

She gave him a once over, sharp and clever eyes blazed over and through him as she measured and judged this newcomer, and took is hand gently allowing the handshake. "Jinx. This isn't your first mission I'm guessing."
bonnypiperlad: (curious)

"No," he admits, "Although it's been a while since the last one." Not counting shore leaves and fighting Ohm, that is. "I don't think we'll have to get married on this one to find these places, though."

At least, he hopes he doesn't. Tucking his thumbs behind his belt, he glances up at the screen for a moment, then back to Jinx, a slightly curious expression appearing on his face. "Is it yours?"

"Not counting that last little run in with the OHM? Yeah it is." And even her part in the massive battle hadn't gone too well. She had been lucky that there were more experienced crew members with her during that mess.

"Just don't hold it against me if I let you go charging in first big boy."
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-09-04 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Aye, well, maybe it won't be so bad. Not all of them are." There's been enough times something's gone wrong, though, that he's thinking charging in may well have to be a possibility. At least Jinx is sensible enough to actually let him go first.

"Don't ye worry, though. I'll not let a lassie come to harm if I can at all help it."

Ooo that earned him a skeptical look. "Oh such a brave and handsome heroic type." She sarcastically remarked. "I feel safer already."

The impression being that she could take care of herself, naturally.

He'd have to be deaf not to pick up on the sarcasm, and his mouth pulls off to one side. Still, he meant what he said. Whether or not she wants to believe him...well, that's on her.

The expression vanishes back off his face and he shrugs. "With any luck you'll not need to worry about it. We could get down there and find nothing at all. At least it means we'll have a bit of a break from repairing the ship, aye?"

[identity profile] badluckbabe.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
That made her smile a genuine smile, "Yeah...that'll happen. And I'll be promoted to captain for my kind and pleasant demeanor."

Captain Jinx...she admitted she liked the sound of that. But one step at a time.

"Well, I suppose stranger things have been known to happen," he says dryly, then gives her a somewhat crooked smile of his own. "But being Captain seems like an awful lot of work, if ye ask me. I'd rather take my chances with unknown beasties down on the planet."

[identity profile] badluckbabe.livejournal.com 2011-09-07 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"No guts no glory." she countered. After all she knew all too well the difficulties of being a leader. It was only a pain when you couldn't count on your minions...err, crew.

bonnypiperlad: (oh aye of course)

Jamie has had a little experience with leadership as well, but if it comes down to being the Captain or getting to go creep down a corridor somewhere and find out what's at the end, he'd much rather have the latter.

"Aye, well, ye can have your glory. Although I suppose we'll see what it is we'll find once we get down there."
