Of malfunctioning portals, parks and dragons [Open]

Taking some time from other projects, Celena had once more brought down her Paired Gate device down to the park in an attempt to work on a number of issues of the operation of the device while in the Bleed. After all if a stable gate could be established, even for short periods of time, it could make for quick travel about the city and about the ship in general.

Thus in her usual draconic form she had set herself before the primary end of the gate device in the middle of a large clearing in the park, with the secondary portion of the device not a hundred feet away. After some time in pondering the problem she had decided to take a break from her work. Locking the device down she stretched herself out and padded away to wander the park for a short while before taking off to stretch her wings. Keeping her general flight path around the vicinity of the park itself.

[OOC: Feel free to run into her at any point, whether while she's working on the device, wandering the park or even flying around overhead!]

Rachel smiled a faint bit back at that, and dropped her hand back to her side as she came a bit closer. Not that she was entirely sure what was an appropriate distance to stop at, to talk to a dragon, but she was working on that still.

She stopped at what she thought was a decent distance. "Keeping busy?"

Celena dipped her head with an easy smile at that, "Indeed, on one project or another, currently I have been attempting to solve a problem with my Gate system's operation while in the Bleed,"

After a pause she went on to ask, "How about yourself?"

Rachel rose an eyebrow at Celena's explanation, before she replied, "I guess so. It can get kind of boring here sometimes." Then, she said, diverting it back, "But you might have to say that in real English." Partly a joke, but, "What's your 'Gate system'?"

Celena couldn't help but give a chuckle at that, "For some perhaps, there is always something interesting around the corner," She commented before dipping her head at that, "My apologies, the 'Gate system' is a device that forms a gateway or portal if you might be more familiar with the term, between the two devices,"

"The problem in simple terms is that while Stacy is traveling between universes, the effects of the Bleed we travel through makes it difficult to form a stable portal,"

"I guess," Rachel muttered, nonchalantly. She'd missed the last few fights, so she'd mostly been stuck. But she did listen to Celena's explanation, pose relaxed. Okay yes, that made more sense.

"So because of how messed up everything is, it doesn't work? Figures," she shrugged slightly. "Take it you've thought of asking Engineering? Or is this more a 'pet project' thing?"

Celena dipped her head at that, "Quite so, and indeed, the Engineering department knows of this particular project and observed its successful testing in real-space, though no luck while in the bleed thus far,"

"Okay, cool," Rachel said, with a nod to that. "That's better than nothing, probably. I can see how some kind of teleporter would be useful, on missions. And it could make traversing this mess," a gesture to the gigantic city they were in, "a bit less annoying."

"Indeed, that is the prime purpose of the device, to allow rapid transport between surface and ship, whether for rapid deployment, or should the case be required, rapid evacuation," Celena explained with a nod and a chuckle, "That the concept behind it could very well be applied to transport within the ship is an added bonus, one that could indeed make greater portions of the city viable for use,"

Rachel nods seriously at that. "I guess it'd be pretty essential in that kind of thing. If we have to get someone in or out fast." That wasn't always a luxury-- Rachel was well aware of the struggles to get out of a place in time, from her own battles.

She smiled, though, and nodded again. "Well, maybe we could finally actually explore the whole damn city," she gestured around them. "I get tired of walking around it after a while. And we still haven't even seen the whole thing, right?"

"Indeed, the time it takes to get a person or group of people in or out of a situation even in seconds can be critical," Celena knew well how much even a few seconds could mean in the grand scheme of things.

"Quite so, there is much of it to explore, I've seen much of it in my flights above it, though not in any great detail as to the specifics of what is out there,"

"Yeah, really. Time can be pretty important sometimes," Rachel agreed. Considering the time limit on morphing, for example-- and how they'd had some close calls with getting out of morph in time. And some missed deadlines. So she knew, too, that time was important to save where you could.

"Hey, I'd bet," Rachel said, nodding to Celena. She hesitated, still not used to the idea that people knew about what was going on. "I've seen some from above, but I'm guessing dragon eyes are even better than eagle eyes."

Celena dipped her head at that, she knew well the time limit that came with the morphing abilities Rachel shared with Marco and Cassie, not a time limit one would want to run over.

She smiled easily as Rachel hesitated before mentioning her own flight, a trait each among their group shared it seemed, for good reason most likely, "It does give quite the view though doesn't it, and indeed, my eyesight as a dragon is quite sharp indeed, though I've little in way of comparisons personally,"

Rachel nodded a bit, and relaxed the slightest amount at Celena's easy response. She still didn't like it, no, but she could mostly deal. "Yeah, it's pretty intense, up there," she agreed. Flying was still something she enjoyed. "I can't really say I know what the comparison is though, either."

Celena nodded in turn, "It can be indeed, flight is one of my personal joys, you'd be hard pressed to keep me from it," She replied in turn with a chuckle, one thing Marco could well attest to during his time in spying on her, she was curious if he had ever complained or spoken of it to Rachel. "Indeed, it is hard to compare without both frames of reference,"

"I'd say so," Rachel smiled. She'd heard Marco's complaining, yes-- or a bit of it, anyway. Personally she was okay with him being annoyed by it, and she didn't blame Celena one bit for her love of flight. It was one of the upsides of morphing. After a moment, she said, "I could compare. If you're cool with it."

Celena smiled in turn at that as she refolded her wings against her back. At Rachel's comment Celena regarded her thoughtfully for a moment, "You could indeed I would suppose. As long as you agree not to abuse it, I would be fine with it,"

"If by 'abuse it', you mean go around saying I'm you? Then no, I won't," Rachel promised, before she stepped closer, within arm's reach, and gingerly touched Celena's side, before she focused on acquiring her.

"Thank you, though that in itself would be a difficult task for those who know me, the markings up on your morph of my form will be different to my own, as Marco has proved," She replied with a dip of her head and a smile, watching her step up, letting herself fall into that trance as Rachel acquired her.

(OOC: Would you like me to whip up an icon for Rachel's version of Celena's morph, any preferences as to the look of the markings?)

"True," Rachel mumbled, despite the trance. She backed off as soon as she felt she had finished acquiring her, waiting for her to snap out of it. "But still. The principle of the thing or whatever, right?"

Nearly as soon as Rachel backed off Celena came back to her senses, dipping her head to Rachel, "Indeed, that is true," she replied with a calm smile.

Rachel flashed a half smile, then hesitated, and shrugged halfheartedly. "Uh, not entirely sure if you want me to do it now. I can try it out later if you'd rather."

Celena gave a smile at that, "If you'd like to try out the morph now, by all means, I don't mind, I've seen the process a number of times already now," She had after all seen Marco change forms a number of times, "If you wish to wait, that is fine by me,"

"All right," Rachel shrugged. "I just figured you might be weirded out or something, I guess." Because she still wasn't used to the process, and watching it was undeniably gross. Rachel closed her eyes, focusing on the thought of Celena, and felt herself being to change shape.

"I have seen far worse believe me, it would take far more to 'weird' me out as it were," Celena replied with some amusement, giving her a nod that it was okay to proceed. Standing their calmly as the process began, watching on with interest if anything rather than any sign of being made uncomfortable by the sight.
