Dearly Beloved...

The City didn't have weather as most people knew it, but it was nonetheless a beautiful day - warm weather with a nice breeze, Stacy's sun-equivalent shining in the sky... almost as if it was reflecting the emotions of at least one of the ship's crew. In the middle of the Park, someone had set up a little white lattice archway amongst the hedgerows, decorated with ivy and roses and lilies that looked remarkably real (if they were, in fact, synthetic). In front of the arch were several rows of white chairs, more than enough for anyone who cared to show up.

It was a beautiful day for a wedding.

And frankly, Nanoha needed it. After the chaos and confusion; the rage and terror on Galilee... she didn't think she could ever forget that horrible sense of loss and emptiness when she'd thought that Fate was gone, if only for a day or so. But this would go a long way toward exorcising those demons - a day that she'd dreamed of for years.

Of course, she couldn't go greet anyone yet. She was in her wedding dress, after all! These things needed to be proper.

Kaya had come to the wedding wearing a simple bridesmaid dress (http://sweetfashiondesign.com/2011/02/09/choose-the-perfect-bridesmaid-dresses-for-wedding/), for once not in blue. She had missed the marrying planet for obvious reasons, and as far as she knew this would be the first marriage on Stacy. She couldn't have thought of two more perfect people together either: she had remembered them fighting, and how quickly they had gotten together afterward. They were the sweetest people she knew, and one of the most stable relationships, until recently, she had seen on the ship.

So today, she was happy to share in their special day. Being here gave her faith there would be more weddings soon, and hopefully show people could stay together, fighting and loving and supporting each other in the most dire times.

And for now, she would ease herself into mingling, eating a few snacks. She hoped she could find a few people she knew.

She hoped the dress wasn't too much!

Shoutarou had seen the announcement, and while he didn't know the people involved, a wedding was still a happy event. If he was going to protect the happiness of the people on this ship, it'd be good to actually see said happiness up close.

So for now, he'll keep to the edges, wallflowering a bit and watching the event and others here.

Fate was, unsurprisingly, nervous as hell. Sure, it wouldn't really change much; they've been living together for over a year, have been raising a child for just as long... but this was on a completely different level. It wasn't just making it official, she was promising, in front of all her friends and whichever crew members decided to show up, that she was going to spend the rest of her life with this woman, that she'd protect her and take care of her, and only death will be able to separate them.

So yes. It was one thing making those promises to herself, but it was another to say it out loud in front of a crowd of people. Her nerves are totally justified.

Jr. made for a pretty god damn dapper looking child-man when he wasn't wearing cowboy belts and boots and jackets. Of course, not many people would know that because he tended to not do that much. Only when he had to, and half the time since he was posing as a twelve year old son he didn't even need to dress that nicely. But formal events and weddings were the place to do so, so he did.

He still had a ghost of a limp when he walked over, but he hoped the looking fancy covered it well enough. Looking over the scene, he couldn't help but smile, getting the same feeling that he guessed everyone else did. That they weren't on a ship sailing into a war with no clear outcome, but in a place -- a place that would feel like some sort of home, because happiness was what truly sealed making a home what it was.

Unsurprisingly to those who know her, but probably more shockingly to the people who'd only seen her fighting or bumming around Stacy, Signum is panicking. It's a reserved, orderly panic, but it's still clear in her actions and demeanor that she's running mostly on nervous energy right now.

She walk-runs around the park in her (expertly-tailored, of course, if not as fancy as Testarossa's) tuxedo, straightening decorations and quietly, respectfully yelling at ushers to in turn quietly, respectfully make sure everyone gets seated properly. This was the most important ceremonial day in the lives of the two people she's closest to without actually considering family, and damn her if it wasn't going to be exactly how they wanted it.

"You. Fix that flower arrangement, would you?" she asks of someone before even registering who they are.

Zouichi, for once, was not wearing his armor. He was dressed in a dark blue yukata (http://www.flickr.com/photos/65137250@N03/6003284056/) instead, looking for familiar faces. When he spotted Jr., he waved.

"Nice formals," he said. "You almost look respectable." He was teasing, of course.

[identity profile] brustriese.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. Standing in front of some people for a ceremony. This wasn't so bad, especially since she herself didn't have to do anything but carry a ring and stand next to Testarossa. And, hypothetically, catch her if she tried to run, but her old friend seems to be frozen to the spot fairly solidly.

Risking the chance of a sudden bolt at the contact, Signum puts her hand on Fate's shoulder comfortingly.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Almost?" he put on a whiny, childish voice for the equally teasing response. And then he laughed, fixing his tie that didn't actually need fixing, Jr. just thought it made him look cool to do that. And then his blue eyes looked up to Zouichi, and he grinned.

"You're lookin' nice, too! I know a guy who likes to dress the same way."

Leon was a little nervous, if only because he had never actually officiated a wedding before, even if he's been part of several of them. But more than that he was excited, and quite happy for Nanoha and Fate.

Seeing how nervous Fate was, he couldn't help but chuckle a bit in amusement. "At ease, Lieutenant," he lightly chided, but quickly gave her a reassuring smile.

"Just take a breath and relax." The ceremony was probably going to be the easiest part of the marriage. "It'll be fine." And it was about to begin.

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Zouichi smiled. "Almost."

He looked down at the dark blue fabric, brushing absently at his shoulder. "Really? Maybe I should meet him sometime. I don't have much in the way of suits, but I picked this up a while back. So, do you know the couple?"

[identity profile] dhianeila.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Weddings where something you attended in person. Dhianeila didn't stand out too much, not only from being a small distance away from the crowd and the group of chairs (but not too far away that she'd miss anything, and the girls were fine coming closer to say hello, anyway), but she wore something not too flashy, but still elegant in its own right; a pale violet dress that went below just past her knees.

She looked excited. Dhianeila simply loved events like these. Happy events with a group of happy people. After their reports from the last mission, she was happy to have something like this to remind everybody that it was important to focus on the good.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaya walked over, giving Dhianelia a small smile. "You look as excited as I do to be here," she said. "Isn't it wonderful? In a few hours, we'll be seeing our first wedding on Stacy. And those two, who have been together awhile! I can't wait!"

[identity profile] 8wings.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Anwei was wearing a silvery yukata (http://www.flickr.com/photos/56712133@N04/5459954585/); it was the nicest piece of clothing she owned at the moment. She recognized the other woman's attitude if not her face: someone who had to see with her own eyes that everything was perfect.

"Consider it done," she said, carefully moving two roses and tweaking the ivy to hold them in a proud little cluster with the rest. There, perfect.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep. His name's Jin. Put a sword in your hand and it'd be perfect!"

Jr. glanced over to where Fate stood. "A little bit! I did spend a little more time with Fate down there." Zouichi could probably guess where 'there' was - Jr. didn't want to talk about it. Not here. "And Nanoha said they'd been planning to do this for a while, now..."

[identity profile] brustriese.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now--"

Signum pauses, and catches herself, forcing herself to relax a second. "...I don't even know you, do I? Thank you."

[identity profile] dhianeila.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can't, either," she answered, giving Kaya a warm smile. "Events such as these ... they're always an amazing, wondrous thing to see."

She regarded the other woman for a moment. "You look beautiful!"

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nervous?" came a joking voice from nearby.

Jr. hadn't seen Signum act like this before. But it wasn't that surprising, if she was so close to the two stars of the day.

[identity profile] brustriese.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The fact that Signum jumps slightly at the question is probably answer enough, and even though she recognizes Jr. there, she's not quite inclined to be a gracious hostess right now.

"I wasn't involved in the original planning this came up with a two-day notice I haven't seen the maid of honor - the one who actually knows anything about this kind of thing - in hours and my best friend is getting married in about fifteen minutes, so yes, I am slightly on edge," she says, all at once, in a tone she usually reserves for lecturing the 'younger' Wolkenritter.

And then she slumps after unloading all that at once.

[identity profile] 8wings.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome." She smiled, taking that moment of visible relaxation as a little gift to someone who clearly needed it.

"I'm Anwei. Is there anything else I can do to help?"

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmm, I'll keep that in mind if I ever want to impersonate one of your friends. Maybe I could borrow a sword from Hana."

Zouichi didn't really feel like talking about the mission, either. "I met Nanoha once, at a demonstration for a prospective member of the Magical Department. This has been delayed for quite some time, hasn't it?"

He paused. "Speaking of ship events, are you planning on the prom?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know," she said, "although I've only been to a few things like these, when I was much younger I didn't understand the significance as much back then, but now? I wouldn't miss these two getting married for the world!"

She smiled. "Oh, thank you! You do too, you know!"
