Datey times of the awkward date [Semi-open, see OOC note]

Nervous? Why should he be nervous? They talked before (kind of), they even married (though only for a mission mostly), and slept together( weirdest night EVER). Everything should be great. Full of song and dance... wait no, that's bad because that way leads to people burning up and he already apologized a million times for that demon.

Right, so it's sort of a date. Kind of. Maybe. Well it's just the two of them walking around and talking, it's harder to do the traditional dinner and a movie on the ship. There's not a Bronze-like place to hang out or a coffee place for coffee. Sooo ok, maybe this isn't a great idea, but Sam seemed to like it. He definitely liked it, so it's good.

Good.

Now about the knocking on the door part. He should really do something about that.

"I figure, we have the possibility of a big screen here. May as well use it, right?" Sam grinned over at him. "It's a lot better than a hotel room."

Sam settled back, paying attention to the movie. He'd always liked the beginning of it.

He absolutely didn't notice the Junior Mint bouncing into his lap.

"Yeah, yeah, hotel room. Right," he nodded quickly, only half listening while his mind was thinking of what to do here. Sam didn't catch it, and he could let it go. But it could melt, and nothing worse than trying to explain a brown stain *there*. And Xander had been there before. (Completely ruined that day at the beach when he was 7. Cordelia of course was the worse taunter about it.)

Maybe he can just sneak down and over to get it? So he scooted down in his seat. Like he dropped something on the floor so he can make sure the evil candy piece landed on the floor and still not awkwardly perched close to Sam's crotch. Which of course lead to thoughts of chocolate and Sam's crotch, and how little Xander was liking that idea. He hurriedly tried to squash it as he felt around the floor.

It took a moment for Sam to realize what Xander was doing. At least, looking for something on the floor. "What's up?" he asked, looking down at Xander. "Drop something?"

Xander was now on his hands and knees, scrunched on the floor. He froze, and looked up. Oh yeah, this really wasn't awkward at all. And with his one eye, he couldn't tell if the candy piece was there or not.

"Uh yeah. Candy went flying. Was just checking to see where it went."

Sam grinned. "Dude, it's just a piece of candy. The Sensorium can just make more."

Not that he was getting any sort of ideas with Xander down there. Which was weird, because...seriously. He'd been pretty certain those thoughts were just a college thing.

"I know." His head slowly came up, and his eye widened. Dammit. It's still there, and it looked like it was about to slide inward if there was any movement. Yeah his life sucks. ...Bad Xander, this is not the time to be thinking about sucking!

"Wait, freeze!"

Sam did freeze, staring down at Xander. "What? What's wrong?"

Damn it, he didn't bring a gun with him. Had the Sensorium brought up something dangerous? He might be able to buy some time to get them both out the door.

Tom hadn't even been looking for Sam or Xander. Really.

Bobby had run off, and Tom had followed, frustrated but unsuspecting. He was keeping an eye on forty pounds of weird alien dog bound and determined to get himself into more trouble than he absolutely had to.

So Xander would suddenly find a dog using his back as a spring board, as the Bobby launched himself into the chairs, using the closest available stepping stone to get there.

Tom froze in the doorway, face turning a dark red and mouth moving in a soundless apology, arriving a moment too late to stop the dog.

There were things you absolutely never needed to know about the people you lived with, and from the position of Xander's head, he definitely didn't want or need to know anything more than that he hoped nobody had been hurt.

Xander was about to point to the candy piece.

"It's right there." Of course, he would say more, but that turned into a high yelp of surprise as Bobby's paws slammed into his back. The resulting momentum sent his head forward, thudding his chin against Sam's knees and thighs.

Right now, he's wishing Sam did have a gun with him. So he could shoot him right here and now before he dies of embarrassment.

Sam noticed Bobby way too late to warn Xander. He grunted as Xander's chin hit his knees, reaching out to push him back slightly. "What the...Xander, you okay?" Then he noticed the door and who was standing there. "Oh, the...Tom! What are you doing here?"

Bobby just panted, grinning his doggy grin.

"I ah...." Blushing, to put no fine point on it, and failing completely at managing to talk. "Sorry! Bobby took off and someone had left the door open and I was just trying to catch him I swear I won't tell anyone!"

Bobby's tail thumped against the chair, completely uncaring of the chaos he had just caused.

"yeah, yeah just my shreds of pride, no big." Xander commented as he tried to climb back to his seat.

"Would saying we're watching a movie help at all?" Just as Frodo leaps into Gandalf's wagon on the big screen.

Sam offered his hand to help Xander up. "Xander dropped one of his Junior Mints. The hoover here will probably find it." Directed at Bobby because the dog ate everything with few ill effects. "It's just, you know, a movie." He glanced sidelong at Xander, then admitted. "Okay, it's...actually more of a first date thing."

Seriously. That was all it was.

"Yeah, sure. Ok. Right. Just a movie." Whatever you say Sam, whatever you say. He swallowed at the conformation of the fact that it was a date, further reddening as he backed towards the door. "Sorry. I didn't mean...It was an accident."

Bobby thumped his tail against the chair.

"I'll...I'll just go...Right. Sorry again. I'll uh...shut the door, ok? Sorry."

Xander sighed as he slumped into his seat. Bobby didn't look like he was in a hurry to go anywhere. His boy was here, and there were good smelling treats too!

"See ya later, Tom," he said with a clear grumble remaining in his voice. Granted it was still a better interruption than some of his previous dates.

Sam groaned, putting his hands over his face before waving. "Okay. Sure. I'll see you later, Tom."

He turned on Bobby next, glaring. "You, on the other hand, are sometimes more trouble than you're worth."

The dog was unconcerned. And just licked Sam in the face.

Xander sighed, "Looks like we got a furry audience still." He leaned over to pet the dog. No point in trying now, the candy was either smooshed, or eaten by the dog.

"Maybe Bobby likes Lord of the Rings. Huh?" He looked at Bobby. "You want to see the furry Hobbit guys?" Of course, leaning over to pet Bobby meant Xander was leaning across Sam. Which was fairly okay with, honestly.

Bobby just gave a doggy grin with his tongue lolling out of his mouth at them. Xander continued to lean over to pet, belatedly realizing how close he was to Sam again. God the guy's warm.

"As long he's good for it." He then turned his head to catch some of Bilbo's Eleventy First birthday party.

Sam smiled, then shrugged and grabbed a bit of popcorn to place on the seat. "I probably shouldn't encourage you," he said, shaking his head. "But if it keeps you quiet, have at."

Xander chuckled as much at Bobby munching popcorn as he was at Merry and Pippin's antics on screen.

"You know, reminds me, haven't seen any Fourth of July fireworks in a long time."

"We never did the fireworks thing all that often." Sam tilted his head, watching the party on the screen. "Not unless Dean decided to do them. Dad never seemed to care one way or the other."

More like John was usually away on a job, but it amounted to the same thing in the end.

"This is going to sound bad, but the biggest one I saw? Was when I helped Giles blow up our old high school. Only way to take down our Mayor who had turned into a giant snake demon."

Xander then added, "Funny thing? I later helped rebuild the school, and then it got swallowed in crater with the rest of the town."

"Yeah. That'll do it. We...have had very little to do with high explosives. It's surprising that we haven't actually blown anything up yet." Given everything they'd dealt with over the years.

"You haven't? I thought you guys took on some major league baddies. Did all that with just guns and knives?" He had to admit that was really badass. And like him, they didn't even have any special powers.
