Datey times of the awkward date [Semi-open, see OOC note]

Nervous? Why should he be nervous? They talked before (kind of), they even married (though only for a mission mostly), and slept together( weirdest night EVER). Everything should be great. Full of song and dance... wait no, that's bad because that way leads to people burning up and he already apologized a million times for that demon.

Right, so it's sort of a date. Kind of. Maybe. Well it's just the two of them walking around and talking, it's harder to do the traditional dinner and a movie on the ship. There's not a Bronze-like place to hang out or a coffee place for coffee. Sooo ok, maybe this isn't a great idea, but Sam seemed to like it. He definitely liked it, so it's good.

Good.

Now about the knocking on the door part. He should really do something about that.

(OOC: After Sam's thread, gawkers, popcorn eaters, and the like are welcome to be peanut gallery to comment or run into them.)

Closed Part of the Date

Sam had already been to the brig to badger Dean into eating. His brother still wasn't spending much time at the house. Which meant Sam was sleeping badly, but he'd survive.

It also meant that Dean wasn't there to make fun of him for the nervous near-panic over a date. Really, a date. He hadn't been on a date since...Sarah. Which wasn't exactly a date, no matter what Dean said. And the things he and Ruby did couldn't be counted as dates.

So. Date. With no clothes that were really date worthy but hell, neither were Xander's, most likely. "There are times I think I really hate that slug," he muttered, heading for the door. There hadn't been a knock, but he'd seen Xander from one of the windows. Taking a breath, he let it out slowly before opening the door. "Uh...hey."

Smooth, Sam. Real smooth.

Not stalkery or creepy. At least, no more than Xander had already admitted to.

Sam glanced back, then nodded and stepped onto the porch. "Yeah. Tom's got Bobby right now. Have I thanked you yet for taking care of them while Dean was down? Because, you know, thanks. A lot."

Sam moved to stand beside Xander. Which would make walking easier. "Umm. Well, the Media Library has all the movies and stuff. Though you can get anything from there in the Sensorium." He grinned at that. "It's where I normally hide out when I'm doing research."

Sam was all for the lack of clowns. If he'd known about the thought.

He nodded. "Yeah. I...tend to think up the house of...well, Bobby's house. The one the dog's named after. He's...kind of been a father-figure to me and Dean." More of a father than their own had been in a lot of ways.

Sam nodded. "Yeah. Our dad...well, he tried." Mostly. It was something Sam hadn't entirely seen until after John was gone. "But he was also one of the most trying individuals I've ever known. We...butted heads a lot."

Sam looked at Xander for a moment, then tilted his head in agreement. "There is that. He did his best by us, even if it wasn't all that great." Hell, Dean still had a lot of issues stemming from the way Dad had treated them. "And he kept us together. Which was hard a lot of the time."

He knew later that they'd bugged out of a few towns right ahead of whatever the local social services was.

After a moment, he shook his head. "I don't think this is actually a good conversation topic for a date. Unless we're looking to go get drunk."

Sam smiled at that. "So. How's the business going? Are there many people looking for furniture?"

Sam thought back to the extension on the house. "Well, I don't think we're going to be needing help for a bit. Or...actually, that might not be a bad idea. If you're looking for a way to keep busy. Dean's...sort of caught up in a few other things."

Security. Hiding from Kaylee. Hiding from everybody. "Anyway. I'm not that good at building stuff, but I tote and haul as well as anybody could. And the extension's not going to finish itself."

At least Dean didn't often turn that self-loathing outward. On demons and hunts, sure, but most of it was directed at himself. Which left Sam to worry, especially about what would happen if they went home and things went the way they were meant to. What would Dean do if Sam wasn't there to watch out for him?

Sam let out a breath and smiled. "Thanks. I know the City doesn't get a lot of weather, but I'd feel better if the walls were at least up." Since they did get rain every once in a while.

The verbal stumbling made Sam grin, tamping down on laughter. "I think we should probably table any talk of nailing for at least the second date." Assuming the first one went well.

Sam lifted a shoulder in a half shrug. "It's not going badly," he replied. "Of course, my last actual date was trying to get a girl to give me information on some items that we thought were connected with a haunting. Which, you know, probably doesn't actually count as a date since it was work."

Sam stepped into the Sensorium first, bringing up a movie theater. An old style one, where the seats were actually really comfortable. Sam paused a moment in the doorway, looking around. "Dean took me to a place like this. When we were kids. They were having a special showing of Star Wars and he made sure I saw it." Because Dean was good about things like that. "Not that we can get the Star Wars movies on ship. They aren't in the media library anywhere. Not even the crappy prequels."

Sam almost had to laugh. "My last...well, I suppose you could call Ruby my girlfriend. Was priming me to break Lucifer out of his cage."

He figured that was probably about as bad as a Hellmouth.

"Man, I haven't even seen this place since I was...maybe ten? I'm amazed I even remember it." But man, it was a nice place. "I bet we find seats that already have popcorn and drinks there, too." It was the Sensorium for a reason.

"I don't know. Sacrificed over a Hellmouth seems pretty awful too." It was strange to be able to joke about it. But their old worlds just didn't exist any more. Joking about it didn't seem so bad now.

He snorted at the Junior Mints. "I'll stick with peanut M&Ms." Sam liked his chocolate, too.

Sam considered that for a moment. "Pretty sure I've had weirder, too. But not date conversation."

Seriously. Anything that had to do with the Trickster? Bad date conversation.

"Good for movies. Good for beaning Dean across the front seat of the Impala. And large enough not to disappear down the seats." Because that would just get Dean to KILL him.
