Nervous? Why should he be nervous? They talked before (kind of), they even married (though only for a mission mostly), and slept together( weirdest night EVER). Everything should be great. Full of song and dance... wait no, that's bad because that way leads to people burning up and he already apologized a million times for that demon.

Right, so it's sort of a date. Kind of. Maybe. Well it's just the two of them walking around and talking, it's harder to do the traditional dinner and a movie on the ship. There's not a Bronze-like place to hang out or a coffee place for coffee. Sooo ok, maybe this isn't a great idea, but Sam seemed to like it. He definitely liked it, so it's good.

Good.

Now about the knocking on the door part. He should really do something about that.

Xander gave him a grin back, "So we're both in agreement on our sucky suckitude of dating." Though the hand holding and squeezing is nice. Very nice. He turned toward the movie again as the Fellowship were walking. And walking. Maybe they should have picked a shorter movie? Nah, this was ok, right? Even if they both knew it.

Sam watched it for a moment. "Next time, I think we look up drinking games." Because he knew there had to be drinking games. Though being drunk in the Sensorium might not be a good idea. Who knew?

"Drinking games, yeah, though maybe stick with non-alcoholic? Who has to pee first loses?" Xander's had the occasional beer, but between how his dad was, and how his future self could be, he hardly ever touches the stuff.

Sam looked at him for a moment, then smiled and nodded. "Yeah, we can do non-alcoholic." So sue him. There were things that Sam didn't want to think about and he would get drunk. "Probably for the best. I'm a maudlin drunk."

Xander gave a smile back, "Wouldn't mind a maudlin drunk." He was just more used to broody violent ones.

"I think Buff put it best when she went prehistoric due to some spiked drinks. 'Beer Bad.' Well first she said 'Beer Foamy,' but learned an important lesson somewhere in there."

Sam snorted. "You don't tend to find a lot of non-alcoholic hunters in my world. The amount of shit you see and live through? Let's just say that there isn't a hunter out there that's died of liver failure." They all died of something a lot messier before that.

Xander gestured to his eyepatch, "Bad pun but I see your point. It's just I saw what it did to my dad, and what it can do to me."

"That, at least, was something I never had to worry about. Dad...well, he got drunk, but he never took anything out on me or Dean when he did so." Sam shook his head. "On the other hand, the hangover meant he pushed our training harder the next morning."

"Lucky you. I would have taken the training." Maybe Jesse would have survived if he already had his field time by then.

"But you two started even younger than us, right?"

Sam sighed, closing his eyes. "I'm not sure exactly when Dean started. The Demon came after Mom when he was four. I was six months old. He...did his best to keep me from learning about it until I was older. Dean, I mean. I was eight when I finally learned the truth. And Dean had been training for as long as I could remember."

"So almost like gun toting toddlers huh? And here I've just been told about all the field time I got. I kind of stumbled in the Slayer when she started at our school, and dropped her stake."

Sam grinned. "Sounds like a better way to get involved. At least you were old enough to make a choice."

"Kind of? I mean our friend got vamped, and Willow was attacked. We were thrown into it, but it's like once you know... what else are you going to do?"

Sam turned back to the movie, mouth twisting slightly. "True. Once you know, it's not like you can just turn your back on it."

Though he'd tried. It just hadn't taken.

Xander nodded before glancing at the scene.

"Like I said, not sure how much of a choice it is. More than what any of the Slayers got originally though. Glad we could change that for them."

"You'd be surprised how much choice you actually have in anything." That was what they'd been fighting for, after all. "Free will's a bitch. But it's what we've got."

"Beats being a Chosen One I'd imagine. Sometimes it's better when you're not." He softly smiled, remembering what he said to Dawn on the subject.

Sam looked over at him, then nodded and settled again. "Yeah. Yeah, I think it's a lot better when you're not."

Xander gestured to the screen where Gandalf went after the Balrog and fell down from the precipice, "Ok, do I have to turn in my manly card if I admit I cried at this part?"

"Yes. Yes, you do." But Sam grinned, laughing softly. "I'd read the books, knew it was coming...and it was still a gut wrench, though."

He hmmphed and then smiled back, "Yeah, I read the books. Kind of. Or really Willow would read chapters to Jesse and me when we were all younger. Will still cried even more at it." He could read, it's just never interested him as much, and Willow didn't mind reading.

"I didn't tend to have much to do in the back of the car but read. So I did a LOT of reading when I was a kid." Sam grinned. "And a lot of mailing library books back because I forgot I had them when we moved."

"Yeah, yeah I guess punch buggy blue loses its charm after the first hour."

Xander thought for a moment, "Pretty sure Willow read almost all the books in the library. Especially Giles heebie jeebie books in the library. Some of them were locked down."

"Dean punches harder." Or did back then, at least. "Not that we didn't have plenty of other things that we did. And usually got yelled at for."

He thought about it, and could see how the guy could. He had seen how close the two were.

"Yeah I already got the big brother protective speech from him. Must have felt good to outgrow him huh?" And he's seen some of the guy's temper, he could be scary.
