Melting Clock: Med Bay's First Arrivals
Things had been running as usual down in the med-bay, and to first appearances, this week wasn't going to be different.
But first appearances could be deceiving. This week was going to be different. And as the next few days passed by, the Medical Department was going to find that they now had quite a situation on their hands.
[[ooc: Okay, so this post is just for the affected characters who go into the Med-Bay before Quarantine, the Medical peeps who volunteered, and also the people who bring in said affected characters. If you've already organised who you'll thread with for this, just put their names in the subject line. If you're happy for any of the Medical guys to tag in, then just put "Open". There's also an ooc planning post for this if you want to try and plot for this.
Also, please note that both in terms of the timeline, both Kon and Jeka will be the last two to be brought in, regardless of thread order - they're essentially the ones who'll show up right before Quarantine, and be the ones that clue in Medical as to what's really happening here.]]

"Medic! Is there a medic here? We need a medic!"

This had been a good thing.
When Eva and Kang burst into the Bay, Kaya was already starting to put together pieces. Marco was in Kang's arms, so something had to have happened to him. She looked at the two, all business.
"I'm a duty," she said, ignoring her current feelings of Marco. "What's happened to him?"

She saw the taller woman and turned in her direction. "Are you waiting for one of the doctors?" she asked.
no subject
Glaring at the woman, she snapped, "I don't need to see one."
((ooc: Change of plans, apparently. For the record!))

"Well, it seems that one Ax thinks that you need to see a doctor. And I'm afraid the only way to prove him wrong is to answer a few questions. I'm Anwei Ayles, the Senior Medical Administrator. Would you like to sit down while we talk?" She opened up a blank form and quickly autopopulated it with what she knew, then looked expectantly (with both eyes this time) at Rachel.

Jeka
She was supposed to be patrolling the ship right now.
Jeka lay in miserable coils on her bed in the dark, trying to ignore the horrifying changes Ra's al Ghul’s "cure" had wrought on her body. She didn't know why she'd even bothered to leave the Pod Caverns – sprock, she didn't even know how she'd managed to leave the Pod Caverns, much less join Security! Her memories felt jumbled and indistinct and normally she'd be concerned about that, but now...
She was a freak! A hideous, mutant freak out of twisted science-fiction! She wasn't even Orandian anymore, not with the hypertaxis energy’s "hyper-evolution" and the human DNA spliced in to stop it. She thought she might even have sprocking hips now! And she didn't even want to think about the useless sacks of fat on her (shudder) chest. Insult on top of injury, worse than the hair, worse than the itchy little flakes of skin, worse than the stubbornly-hinged jaw and the dizzying adjustment to forward-facing eyes. Useless, pointless, purposeless!
There was a knock at the door. She ignored it. The person on the other side opened the door anyway, spilling light into the room.
"Don’t look at me!"
Re: Jeka
...So to speak, anyway. "What's the matter?" Did she buy a bad hat while on shore leave? She stepped in the room and closed the door behind her, the lights on her side of the room coming on, but dim.

Medical peeps: Miranda and Rory. [Bendytimed to after everyone else but probably before Jeka]
Even though he was healing quickly, he was a total mess. His hair was back, but there were healing burns under his eyes that were still bleeding a little. There were bruises, scrapes, cuts, and contusions all over his body, a wrist and ankle were broken, as were several fingers on his left hand, and there were bits of shotgun rounds still reduced to shrapnel and stuck in the skin of his chest and face.
He was able to come out of his traumatized fog long enough to say shrewdly, "Are you guys even certified in metahuman medicine?"
Re: Medical peeps: Miranda and Rory. [Bendytimed to after everyone else but probably before Jeka]
Except she didn't even know if anyone else had the certification either. Oh god, she was going to fail with her first patient, because she couldn't even find anyone who actually knew how to treat him!
Re: Medical peeps: Miranda and Rory. [Bendytimed to after everyone else but probably before Jeka]
He paused, taking a moment to access their patient. "What happened? Were you attacked? Do we need to file a report with security?"
Re: Medical peeps: Miranda and Rory. [Bendytimed to after everyone else but probably before Jeka]
"I was..."
Shame. There was shame; deep, nearly unbearable shame.
"I did the attacking. Got my sorry butt trounced for it. Something--something happened to my head. I don't really understand what, but I broke free. Still, even now that I'm not going all Manchurian Candidate on everyone...there's something wrong."
His face creased up in guilt over what he'd done, regardless of the fact that it wasn't his fault.

Closed: Marco & Rachel
A little too convenient, that right after Kang managed to get Marco put in here, another one of the Animorphs did too.
But he waited until it was dark, and all the staff were out of sight before heading over to sit on the end of Rachel's bed. "So, how'd you end up in here too?" Marco said, sounding just as pissed off as he felt.
no subject
Still wide awake, she glared over at Marco-- not because she was angry with him, for once, but because of the general situation-- before she said, voice harsh, "Ax seems to think something's wrong with me. How the hell'd you end up here?"
no subject
"Kang put me here. My guess is he wants me out of the way so Visser fucking One can continue to saunter around like Mom's body is her own personal palace," he said bitterly.
no subject
The thought was momentarily derailed when Marco explained why he was there. "What the hell?!" Rachel snapped. "Since when did he have a fucking say?" she growled. Maybe it wasn't personal like it was with Marco-- but like hell was she going to let Visser One parade around free.

[Open for other patients and medical staff wanting to just be social]
If he was staying in Medbay, though, with other people and very squishy doctors and such, Kon wanted to be restrained as often as he could be, just in case something flipped the evil switch again. Thus, red sunlamps were procured, and powerless, he was restrained to his medbay bed. Even when he needed to use the little superboy's room, Stacy was holding onto him the whole time. Was it highly embarrassing? Yes. Did it make him ashamed he even needed it? Double yes. Would he have been able to rest easy without it? Not until they knew what was going on in his head. Not until he knew for sure he wouldn't pop another Mental Mentos. (The Evilmaker!)
It was likely more for his own peace of mind than anything, but it did give him peace. He'd hurt people. He'd almost killed Sherry. If he had to be locked up forever to never hurt someone again, he was willing to let that happen. He just hoped it wouldn't come to that.
So it was a very quiet, sedate Superboy that lay bathed in red light, restrained to his bed by energy tentacles that sprang out from the bed itself like crawly little legs. (Très gross.) Nearby, Red Robin proved that even boy wonders needed to sleep sometimes, as he slept soundly on another bed, refusing to leave Kon's side. Every so often, Kon shot him a grateful look he couldn't see.
Kon was healing up nicely, since he'd had some time powered up to heal a little and the deaging process itself was helping with that, but his injuries were the last things on his troubled mind right now. The fact that he was now from his early days with the Legion--constantly screwing up and getting Cos pissed off--didn't help.
He wouldn't have minded company--another patient talking to him, one of the healers or doctors. In fact, anything to fill the void other than looking at the ceiling would've been nice, but he didn't want to wake his sleeping friend for that. (Yet.)

Sometimes there was really no winning.
As she made her rounds, more quietly observing and making notes to herself about what they knew so far, she found her eyes coming back to the red-lit form of one of their patients. One who's awake, she noted, moving toward his bed after a moment's hesitation. Getting to the bottom of all of this meant talking. She might as well keep doing that in the face of what she couldn't do. (Figure this out, for one.)
Noting the man sleeping on the bed next to his, she kept her voice low when she spoke. "How're you feeling?" She smiled, chartless and noteless for the moment. Her somewhat ridiculous question was sincere at heart -- for all the situation, monitoring how people felt going forward was as important as tracking back to the cause of this in the first place.

[After getting called in by Rory]
The Doctor wasn't trying to be rude but Rory wasn't exactly trained in Time related...well, anything and while it might've been entertaining to see his take on it, it was safer for everyone if he focused on nurse-y things. Whatever married and then un-married nurses did.
The red light and the energy tentacles were the first clue. The Doctor raised his hand to knock as he let himself in, remembred right flesh walls and knocking weren't a good mix (very muffled!), and lowered his hand. The Time Lord instead opted to wave, ducking his head through the door and stepping inside the Med Bay.
"Hello! The Doctor and right, I can't shake your hand when you're like that can I?" The Doctor gestured at the energy tentacles. "Nevermind! Save it for later."
The Doctor approached the bed and the boy on it, lowering the strap of what looked like a mutated backpack and a toaster from his shoulder. Casting about for a chair, the Doctor made as if to sit in it and then changed his mind mid-sit, setting the toaster there instead and bustling around the bed, tilting his head. So. Time moving backward for this human. It wasn't like before, when he could see the possibilities and tangents, all spinning off from each other into parallel time lines, would-bes and might's and will be, given the right nudge and other temporal spacial factors. He'd been blinded since he woke up on Stacy. But the Doctor could still sense a feeling of wrong around this boy, that feel you got when you took a big whiff of curdled milk (or growing paradox) and it almost felt like being around Jamie McCrimmon. Granted, this one is still ongoing but yeah.
Almost the same feeling. Rory made a good call today to bring him here.

"Just 'the Doctor'? You don't have a name?"
That made him sound like some mad scientist supervillain, or minimally, a doctor that liked avoiding patients knowing who to sue for malpractice. Both weren't the best signs.
