Melting Clock: Med Bay's First Arrivals
Things had been running as usual down in the med-bay, and to first appearances, this week wasn't going to be different.
But first appearances could be deceiving. This week was going to be different. And as the next few days passed by, the Medical Department was going to find that they now had quite a situation on their hands.
[[ooc: Okay, so this post is just for the affected characters who go into the Med-Bay before Quarantine, the Medical peeps who volunteered, and also the people who bring in said affected characters. If you've already organised who you'll thread with for this, just put their names in the subject line. If you're happy for any of the Medical guys to tag in, then just put "Open". There's also an ooc planning post for this if you want to try and plot for this.
Also, please note that both in terms of the timeline, both Kon and Jeka will be the last two to be brought in, regardless of thread order - they're essentially the ones who'll show up right before Quarantine, and be the ones that clue in Medical as to what's really happening here.]]

"Lay down." Now it wasn't even a request. "I'm not done yet, and I want to make sure I'm thorough. If you don't like the conversation, we can not have it, but you ARE staying here until everything checks out."

Maybe if he morphed, he might have a chance. Maybe. But he couldn't afford to do that in front of Kaya, and he wasn't Rachel. He didn't charge more powerful opponents head on without at least some sort of plan (Marco ignored the fact that he'd done just that with Kang earlier).
But while he might not be able to fight back, he wasn't going to just lie back and comply. No way.
no subject
If she didn't think he'd figure it that way.
"That should be more than fine." She hoped it was, that Kaya's manner of healing didn't require people to by lying down for any reason other than health concerns. It wasn't a point worth pushing if he was more inclined to cooperate based on something as simple as sitting.
Coaxing him toward the table, her brow furrowed. Something looked different about him, if Sakura was having trouble pinning down exactly what.

She walked over to Sakura, and bent over to to her ear. "If there is a peaceful way you can get Marco to sleep, please help. I'll explain why once he's out. There's more to this than just a spat with Kang."
no subject
"What the hell are you whispering about?!" he asked, eyes narrowing.
no subject
Sure, no problem. Too bad half her easy sleeping agents weren't here at the moment, and that she didn't know the specifics of Kabuto's genjutsu that had sent everyone at the chuunin exams to sleep.
Outside of knocking him out the same way he had been when he was brought in (not something she was keen to do, even if she was monitoring afterward to make sure there wasn't swelling or bruising of the braincase), or using standard pressure points, there was another way. Might as well start off nice.
"Is it uncommon to ask for second opinions where you're from?" Implications, all while bringing one hand up to his forehead. "You remember how this felt the last time? A little warm, a little tingly. It won't take long," she added, chakra manifesting in it's soft green light around her hand. "Make sure to tell me if anything feels off."
Manipulating the chakra points and tricking his body into falling into deep sleep wasn't particularly effective as an attack; it took a certain level of cooperation and close contact not affordable during battle. For bedside practices, on the other hand, when other means weren't available and there was no time or pressure crunch... Time to sleep for a while.

But once she saw sakura at work, she waited to make sure that Marco was out first. She wasn't going to take any chances.

"I can keep monitoring for when he starts coming up, though we should have time before then. What's going on?"

She sighed. "He was brought here because he still believes his mother is infested by the Yerrk. It's as if his memory of finding her and all they've talked about is gone, and the current situation with those aliens haven't helped. But its the loss of memory that's bothering me. I don't even know if its just him, or if its spreading. But I am trying to see if
its possible to snap him out of it."

Memory was hard enough to work with on a ship that could (present company exemplifying) screw with memory as easily as anything else. Hadn't that been status quo, months ago? People were repodded, memories were wiped?
"Sudden onset memory loss? On select information?" That was more curious to her. "How far back is he forgetting? Did Kang or his mother--" she paused. It was surprising to hear someone had family on ship, more-so than friends or anything else. "Did either one of them have an idea of what could have brought this on?"
It seemed hasty to guess that others were suffering likewise, but as with most things, keeping that possibility in mind... Sakura grimaced.

"They are an alien species that need hosts to take over, but that's not important," Kaya said. "What IS important is that Marco is reliving a past memory as if the ones he had never took place. What he's lost is the knowledge his mother isn't infested anymore. Kang and Eva are totally mystified, and Kang had to knock him out just so Marco wouldn't attack his mother. I don't think either of them know how this happened."
She exhaled. "Which is WHY I want to see if it only Marco. This sort of thing usually affects more than a few people."
no subject
Creating a timeline to figure out what he'd forgotten, when there were incongruities in what he hadn't. "Back home?"
She pushed on, offering some explanation for the questions she was asking. "If it's something that'll be affecting others, we'll need to have some better idea of how it's affecting him. The only head trauma you noticed was delivered by Kang? No sign of older injury, evidence of swelling, signs of abnormal body activity?" Sakura might not have been concentrating on those details, but she hadn't sensed anything immediately off. It'd be worth using the scanning technology of the Bay if neither one of them could detect any overt abnormality in Marco himself.
no subject
She shook her head. "No, no other trauma whatsoever. Physically, from what I see, there appears to be nothing wrong with him. The problems is, we need to find at least someone others like Marco, otherwise the problem might get progressively worse. We NEED to know what this is, and possibly if its spreading."
no subject
It'd be easier if she could quiz Marco on the details of what he did remember, compared to the details of what he should remember. That he was on the offence due to what he didn't remember...
"In which case we're looking for people with some recognition of those on ship, but incomplete memories of things that they learned here, or even back home. If there's no physical trauma, then we're also looking for people with no obvious cause for their memory lapses." She frowned. "We need an idea of what things could cause memory alteration, or even loss. Maybe check the Media Library, the databanks here in the Bay..." she looked up abruptly. "And a way to find others displaying similar memory loss without making it seem like we're asking for people to panic. If there's a high probability that we're only seeing Marco because his memory loss affected his behavior enough to prompt an attack, we might not be seeing others because whatever's being lost isn't enough to change how they're acting -- yet."
What an impending headache -- from one confusing situation to a possible memory meltdown. She should have had tea this morning.

She nodded. "I have a feeling that we're going to be here a lot longer than we though. If it IS more than just one person, medical is going to need all the help they can get. If you can watch over Marco, I'm going to go and check the Media library, see if we can figure out what's going on. If I run into some people from the ship that are missing memories, I can try and get them to come to the bay."

"I've got my OmniComm on me, and I can send a message to Dr. Henderson if he doesn't show up soon on his own. Let me know what you find. If anyone comes in, I'll ask them to stay until further notice."
She paused, glancing back at Marco. What could be doing this? Stacy, sure, but at the same time, taking someone back to a mental place where they're more unstable... "Good luck. If this is what you think it might be, we're all going to need it."
