It's five o'clock somewhere!

It was easy to find the Drunken Dragon Tavern, due to the train, and the fact that a good portion of the crew was familiar with the establishment and could point the way. Kang knew that there were a few already planning on stopping by, and that Kaylee could use the help. He also wanted to get more information on the new people, see who was likely to cause problems (Farseer Ildraniath already had) and who wasn't. There were a few he hoped would show up, as well.

Feeling a little happier than usual, despite the Farseer, he took care of business as usual, being sociable and refilling drinks.

[Open post is very open. Feel free to talk to either Kang or Kaylee, or both, or to threadjack (with permission, of course)!]

She nodded. "There was the alliance military..." Which was obvious a sore subject for the young half orc girl. "And yes, the Lich King was the most powerful undead in our world. And he led legions of them, and could also create them and much stronger constructs."

"Horde and alliance... I'm going to guess you two didn't get along so well? At least til the lich king gave you both a bigger problem?"

She shook her head, "Even when he gave us the bigger threat, the animosity between both factions kept us fighting three fronts at once, when we only should have been focusing on one." She said a bit put off by her worlds inability to work together.

"Yeah, unfortunately, that sounds about right. Our worlds might not be so different in a lot of ways after all."

She nodded, taking a long sip of her water. "I wonder when the next attack will be. As far as I know the encounters with the Ohm have been scarce. Not that I'm calling them out but, I'm more concerned about a quiet enemy, than one who is always in your face."

"Smart, the enemy you don't see is always worse than the one you do. Hell, most of my pack's ops were stealth and infiltration."

She nodded. "That's why I've been uneasy about this all. They've been too quiet, and there's been no movement to secure intel on what they are up to. It just feels too peaceful for being in such a huge war."

"Good thought. So we have any kind of long range surveillance capabilities? Far as I could tell, we're on a short leash from the ship. Eventually I might need to look into figuring out an infiltration group or something."

"I'm not sure, most of the that info is kept amongst the council I think. At least as far as I was told."

"That figures. Based on vehicles engineering, what kind of long range capabilities do we have?"

"The hangar has a slew of combat vehicles and long distance ships from what I could tell. And all the pilots seem to be extremely skilled."

"Huh, if we ever get close, wonder if I can ask Trudy if we have any kind of stealth and drop capabilities. Be nice to get some first hand intel."

She looked up, a hint of concern on her features. "It'd be extremely dangerous, but should it succeed, it could give us a huge boost in our favor."

"I've survived seven suicide missions and counting. Joy of expendability."

She didn't much like it, but she knew that all too well herself. "Yeah, I know. Jus' with our limited resources and crew, I don't believe in anyone being expendable."

[identity profile] j-y-d.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ok, then don't think of me as expendable, think of me as a volunteer who thinks the risk could be worth the gain."

She looked at him curiously, an appreciative smile and slight blush forming on her face. "That's better I t-think." She said timidly.

The smile has never broken - he's entirely too cavalier about suicide missions, expendability and volunteering - but it seems to be fairly normal for him by the reaction.

"I'd just need to get the right crew together. Got to be some other sneaks around."

She nodded. "There are from what I can tell. We've also gained a few more from what I saw in the pop."

"Quite possibly. I just ain't worked with any of them yet. A normal fight, I'll go into with what we've got. If I'm going behind lines though, I need to know who I'm working with."

"Understandable. It's good to be in sync with your crew specially when you'll be relying on them as they'll rely on you."

"That, and when one error gets everyone killed, its nice to at least have some idea what to expect."

"Yeah no kiddin'." She had another long sip of her water, remembering the newer groups they hastily sent to aid the war effort back home... They never saw it coming, they weren't ready...

"I'm hoping for better performance from this crew to be honest."

"That's why I'm putting together the training stuff I am. Try and figure out who I can work with, get people cross-trained and multi-disciplined and shit. So far, I'm optimistic though." As usual.

"Optimism is good, and I am sure you'll make a good leader. It's good to see someone taking steps forward." She smiled.
