It's five o'clock somewhere!

It was easy to find the Drunken Dragon Tavern, due to the train, and the fact that a good portion of the crew was familiar with the establishment and could point the way. Kang knew that there were a few already planning on stopping by, and that Kaylee could use the help. He also wanted to get more information on the new people, see who was likely to cause problems (Farseer Ildraniath already had) and who wasn't. There were a few he hoped would show up, as well.

Feeling a little happier than usual, despite the Farseer, he took care of business as usual, being sociable and refilling drinks.

"Fame... I guess. Sooner or later, politicians have a way of getting the fuck out of the way when shit really needs to get done. Sure, you got to go through their crap first, and things end up tougher than they need to be - but at least here, the council seems to mostly set some common sense rules and get out of people's way, for the most part. Not so bad."

She rested her head on the table in thought. "It's not so bad really. I just worry, cause it seems most everyone is taking things lightly."

"Just experience, I guess. On my world, the same two or three groups were in charge, just cause they'd always been in charge. And they fucked everything up... and yet, even with most of the werewolves dead, they were still in charge. We... were the lowest of the low. No political power. We got the suicide missions, the deep infiltration, the shit work - but we got stuff done. Some shit people just ain't ever going to control... so we do what we can to win the war and get shit done, with or without them."

She understood that notion all too well. "It was sort of the same back home. Nobles were, for whatever reason, exempt from any participation in the wars... Which left everyone else to do the work for them." She shrugged.

"Didn't matter, I did it to get things done, if no one stood up to the threats, we might as well had let them run us over."

"That was one thing - our nobles, at least, were fighting in the war too. They were just doing it the wrong fucking way. You'd think decades of something not working would get them to change how they did things, instead of letting more people die out of stubborness. So we pulled off their assignments, then the rest of the time, did things our own way without them."

"Can't blame ya... I bet most our nobles wouldn't know what to do with a sword if the situation arose where they needed to defend themselves... Let alone some of the siege weapons."

"I'll give the Fangs and the Lords their due. They fought fine, some of them were even decent field leaders. A lot of 'em died bravely and shit fighting for the sacred places when the enemy found them. But they weren't ever figuring out being proactive, hitting the enemy over and over where they drew their power, just waited for something big and nasty enough to identify, or for something to come at them. Relied on tooth and claw and all, instead of changing their tactics as the war changed."

"Tunnelvision." She said simply, eying her glass of water, making it move around as she twirled it on the table.

"Happens a lot in wars, people get too focused on one thing and loose track of their surroundings and the changes happening... And in a war, changes can happen in the blink of an eye."

"Yep, pretty much. And the same two tribes have been fighting over leadership and doing things one way for centuries and centuries. No matter which was stronger, they did things one basic way, just one of them did it a little sneakier. When the enemy changed its tactics, they couldn't change to meet it."

"And thus it was harder than it needed to be and shifted the tide of battle in favor of the enemy." She said to no one in particular, more remembering events she'd witnessed than anything.

"Yep, you got it. So when we had to, we took their assignments, and did things the hard way, and were just bad ass enough to do it. The rest of the time, we followed Kain, and got shit done."

She giggled a bit, "Well I'm glad someone had some sense to do things as they should be done. It also puts me at ease that at least some competent people came from the latest pop and not all were 'self proclaimed lords of evil' in the middle of a ship full of heroes..." She facepalmed and laughed.

"Nothing against the dude but... man was that not the right thing to do here."

"Let's see, the fire chick... who was kinda cute in an utterly psycho way, the red guy who hates that Billy person... yeah, some less than ideal choices. But Nima is a solid addition. The green dude moves like he has some military experience, couple other hot chicks, which there can never be too many of. Could be worse."

"Of course, hot chicks are always a must in a situation such as this." She teased laughing a bit. He certainly reminded her of a couple of her family members, specifically the boys.

"And you're right, it could always be worse."

"Hot green chicks included." he agrees, with a wink, glad to see that she's not only not stuttering, but teasing back. Good sign - if it holds up.

She blushed, "I'm sure there's some of those around, jus' gotta find em!" She retorted, of course he'd have to find em, cause she certainly wasn't one~ she didn't think.

He raises his cup. "Huh, funny. I'm sharing a drink with one. Lucky me."

She grinned back at him, raising her water and tilting it in response. "Huh. Someone must have taken my invisibility device, cause I don' see em." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

Yep, she's even more fun when she talks back. He eyes the stuck out tongue. "Don't point that thing at me unless you plan to use it."

She raised a brow in response, "First, you'd have to catch me. Second, you'd have to overpower me." She grinned, "And I'm a helluva lot stronger than I look, I can assure you that." She teased.

"Y'know, if it weren't for the fact you already got a boyfriend, I'd say that sounds an awful lot like a challenge." he teases back.

"It was a challenge." She grinned. "Tho you're right, I should really behave, specially when things aren't still sure about the difference in lifestyles. But like I said, that's more than fine with me." She smiled sweetly.

"I have a long history of bad behavior." One can almost see the expenditure of willpower to stay on one side of a line in the sand. "I shouldn't be taking someone else's girlfriend up on that kind of challenge... tempting as it is, seeing as I'm stronger than I look too... but y'know, if you get that sorted out, I'd love to see how that challenge went."

She laughed a bit, "That's very noble of you and much appreciated. I'm sure we'll have more than a couple of challenges ahead of us to test each other out... and I don't m-mean in the bedroom!" she added hastily, catching her own train of thoughts with an embarrassed laugh.

"Hey, if he turns out to not be the jealous type, I'm all for challenges in the bedroom. You know, unless you prefer, say, the kitchen, or the living room. I'm flexible like that."
