Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Jamie slips his Omnicomm back into the sporran, then hooks his thumbs behind the belt holding it in place. It's odd that it doesn't feel any heavier than it did before, even with all that extra room. He wonders idly for a moment why that is while Daniel takes the time to study his own device, but glances back over at the question.

"As near as I can gather, about a year. Maybe a bit more or less. It's hard to tell here, sometimes." He doesn't seem overly worried about that situation, having come to accept it some time ago. "It's something to do with how the Bleed affects things, I think. I've a friend who could explain it better than I could, but..."

He lifts his head to scan the room to see if he can spot either of the Doctors, but neither of them seem to be around, and he shrugs. "Och, I don't see them. If you've got other questions, though, I could try and answer them for ye."

Daniel looked up from the Omnicron, the new device temporarily forgotten, in his surprise.

"A year? And you haven't found a way home?" Daniel asked incredulously. It bordered on being rude. Then he seemed to realize what he'd just said and how. After the fact. Of course. He winced and smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry. I didn't meant to be rude. I was just hoping this wasn't so... long term."

How long had this war been going on? And if Jamie had been here for a year already, what did that say about the rest of their futures? He didn't want to come off as selfish but he had his own war back home. This war between the Ohm and the Daligig might go on for decades. Even longer, because he had no idea how long they lived or why it was even happening. It could even be a way of life at this point, the why's and how's forgotten.

Maybe if he got to know them, he might have some answers. He wasn't willing to fight someone's war just because they said so. Asking too many questions was second nature to him. Daniel wanted some proof and that was going to require both digging and being skeptical, both of which weren't going to be a problem. The Ohm might not even be the "bad guys" here. It could be propaganda.

"Thanks for being so patient. I did have some more. Someone told me that the Daligig saved us so that we'd fight on their behalf against the Ohm. Have you seen combat? Have you seen either of them?"

Jamie is oddly silent in the face of that exclamation, looking at Daniel with an expression that can't quite make up its mind if it wants to be solemn or simply sad. Once the archaeologist is done, he manages to give him a not-quite smile, although that's mostly for the apology. "Ye don't need to apologize. How were ye to know?"

He turns towards one of the windows, the screen normally covering it having been raised so that anyone who chose could watch as they sped through the Bleed. Daniel's words ring in his ears. They thought they could go home, once. And then there were the pirates and the zombies, and nothing was the same after.

"Aye, I've fought the Ohm, and I've seen the Daligig. There's a video of our meeting with them linked to the guide they've set up, so ye can see, but they were right. The Daligig did save us when our worlds were destroyed."
