Fleeting Memories [open]
It was dark in the sensoriums late at night, as a small figure sat curled up on a couch and watching the television. On it played a view as a handsome man laughed with the shorter one using the "camera". There wasn't much light in the room, but a hand dipped into the half-empty bucket of double chocolate fudge and peanut butter ice cream.
Ne ne, Kazami-kun, look at that! chirped the happy Rein on the end of the "camera".
Rein let out a strangled choking sob and she weeped, dropping her spoon and burying her face in her hands.
"K-kazami... kun..."

It was probably just luck he wound back up in the Sensoriums, but Sonic couldn't help but notice the somber atmosphere inside. It didn't help that there was a girl crying, upset about something.
If there was one thing that Sonic the Hedgehog didn't like seeing, it was a girl crying.
At the moment, he was standing in front of Reinforce, holding out a handkerchief to her.

She had only seen him a couple of times but she hit the mental pause button on the memory playing on the screen. "S-sorry you had to see me like this."

"He was The One." And with capital letters too.

"Hey, you don't know that..." Sonic said, softly. "From what I understand, this ship is crazy. It does crazy things."

"Rein..." she said as she approached her and instantly took her into her arms to hug her.
"What's wrong?"
no subject
"K-kazami-kun... he's gone... I won't see him again..." sniffled Rein, punctuating it with hiccups and little soft desus.
no subject
"Ssh, Rein... Let it all out if you need to. I'm not going anywhere."
no subject
With no more tears to shed, she sniffled and set the ice cream aside. "I... thanks. I just wanted to... well..."

"I'm very sorry to hear that. It must feel terrible to lose somebody so important to you. But ... he's just down in those pods sleeping, isn't he?"
no subject
She swallowed hard. "I miss him already...!"
no subject
She gave Rein a small, encouraging smile. "I miss my friends, too. And ... somebody very important to me. But I've met many people on this ship who have become my friends as well. I'm sure your friends will do their best to be there for you until you meet again, so you don't feel so alone without him."

She would have gratefully ducked out so they could have time to themselves, but then she saw it was Rein, the girl who'd made her the jacket and asked for nothing in return. What rat bastard would leave a person like that to cry alone?
"Hey," she said softly, joining her on the couch. "You all right?"

She curled up a little more, sniffling as the memories in a form of home movies were playing out on the TV at muted levels.

She looked at what she was watching, and it seemed to be her with one of the guys that were here: she was sure she saw him on the mission.
"What happened with that guy?" she asked.

"D'ya think he'd come back if he had the chance?" She asked her. "I mean, you obviously cared for him, right? So if he had a choice, to come back or stay podded, what would he choose?"
