Fleeting Memories [open]

It was dark in the sensoriums late at night, as a small figure sat curled up on a couch and watching the television. On it played a view as a handsome man laughed with the shorter one using the "camera". There wasn't much light in the room, but a hand dipped into the half-empty bucket of double chocolate fudge and peanut butter ice cream.

Ne ne, Kazami-kun, look at that! chirped the happy Rein on the end of the "camera".

Rein let out a strangled choking sob and she weeped, dropping her spoon and burying her face in her hands.

"K-kazami... kun..."

"M-mid-Childa," coughed Rein, trying to get control of her voice despite the little hiccups and sobs punctuating her voice. "It's... a nice world, and I live there with Hayate and the rest of my family."

"Mid Childa. I've never heard of a planet like that before." But according to Rein, it was nice, so. "Perhaps one day I'll be able to visit it."

"It's nice," said Rein, adjusting the blinds and letting the light in to show off a beautiful seaside landscape. "There. That's Mid just outside."

Dhianeila moved to the window and stared out curiously.

"It's beautiful!" she exclaimed, holding her hands together. "I have a residence in a very similar place. I love the oceans."

"Hayate loved the view. She was the one who chose the location for our home actually," said Rein, rubbing her eyes from the bright light from behind the muted curtains.

"She made a note to make it as close to our home we shared on Earth as possible."

"Hayate? Is that a friend, or a sister?"

As close to the home they shared on Earth ... Dhianeila herself never lived on the planet, though it was so important to humanity to get their mother planet back. This scene was beautiful ... she wondered if she'd be able to see a view like this on Earth some day.

"She's my meister, er, master. But she's more like a mother to me than anything else," said Rein with a smile. "She's kind and gentle, and so giving too."

"I couldn't imagine myself without Hayate," admitted Rein with a nod. "She's one of the people that makes my life complete."

At this, Rein blushed a little as she held up her hands and a little egg appeared in it. "She gave birth to me. Or, well, created me. I was born from an egg, because Hayate wanted to have a device carrying my big sister's name. Does that makes sense?"

Rein rubbed her head as the egg vanished. "I was created by Hayate, so in a way, she's my mother."
