Fleeting Memories [open]

It was dark in the sensoriums late at night, as a small figure sat curled up on a couch and watching the television. On it played a view as a handsome man laughed with the shorter one using the "camera". There wasn't much light in the room, but a hand dipped into the half-empty bucket of double chocolate fudge and peanut butter ice cream.

Ne ne, Kazami-kun, look at that! chirped the happy Rein on the end of the "camera".

Rein let out a strangled choking sob and she weeped, dropping her spoon and burying her face in her hands.

"K-kazami... kun..."

"Want me to help you set something up? Like, a picture or something for you to keep him around?" suggested Hoshi with a small tilt of her head.

"Awesome. I can't wait."

"I could go with that," said Rein. "There's enough sensor logs of us on dates to have something set up."

She smiled at that, wiping her tears aside. "It's nice, having friends around isn't it?"

"Yeah, and it can be like a scrapbook."

She nodded and smiled as well. "Yeah. Friends are awesome to help you get through pretty much everything."

Rein smiled as she leaned up, and kissed Hoshi on the cheek. "Thanks," she said in a small voice, her usual energy coming back but a little more muted than usual. She still was fairly sad, but she did have a smile now that wasn't forced.

Hoshi couldn't help but blush a bit at the cheek kiss, blinking a little bit before her usual smile was on her face. "You're welcome. Want me to stay here a bit with you and then maybe we can go back to your store or something to work on the scrapbook?"

And, then, an idea came to her mind. Sasami would love to get to know another friend and Rein didn't want to be alone...

"Want to sleepover at the place I'm staying at?"

"I should. Lemme call her and let her know." And Rein closed her eyes. And when she opened them she nodded. "Told her."

"All right. I'll help you get your bags and stuff. There's a couple of people living where I'm at -- Sasami, Starfire, and Aqua. They're really great people," replied Hoshi as she held out her hand for Rein to take.
