Are you afraid of the Darksoul? [Part 2]

For too long the firstborn son of Satan's demonic soul had been trapped, denied his rightful control over Daimon's body. Now, thanks to Mei-Xing, he was finally free. The next course of action was obvious- he would have to take control of one of the beings on this ship. He could start with the vulnerable and move on to the more powerful. He had to act fast before that fool recovered. Fortunately he needn't go very far. The city was full of potential victims.

Now, now. Who to possess first?

That was an impressive sprint for a guy that sat around sciencing all day, yes it was. Try to keep up, Tana.

"Okay! So is there some kind of evil-making business going on?" he huffed out. "That's making people evil? Because if she wanted to kill me before, she probably would've mentioned it when we were having coffee!"

It was much easier to keep up when she wasn't wearing high heels, Megamind. Still, Tana was only just keeping up with the men, and looked back over her shoulder at Roxanne. "I don't know, but I don't think she's going to quit until she finds you."

But, a little part of her did sympathize with their pursuer. "Are you sure there wasn't anything in her coffee?" Something in the water, maybe?

Where were all these people coming from? Initially, she hadn't been interested in them, since her main goal was getting to Megamind. But now they've irritated her, so in her pursuit, she starts to fire off burst of that soulfire, aiming at any of the other three as she herself sprints after them.

Lex ducked under a set of flames, and continued running.

"I know they say that 'hell hath no fury,' and all of that, but she seems to be taking that a little literally!"

"Well, you know, kidnap a woman a couple hundred times and put her in various death traps and there's going to be a little fury!" Megamind said sheepishly, basically taking the blame. "The floating and the fire of agonizing pain part, that's what's new! We need to find a way to incapacitate her long enough to figure out what's going on--and hopefully get her a cure. Without hurting her."

Odd sentiment coming from the person who just admitted he stuck her in a bunch of death traps.

There was some kind of temple, or maybe a museum, over to the right, with the door wide open and inside there were various...things. Cases of things, tapestries and the like. Maybe there would be something to work with in there. With no weapons, they'd have to rely on their environment--there was no way they could take her down with powers in an open space.

"I can't believe you just said that," Tana told Lex with annoyance as she hopped over a burst of soul fire. She resisted just stepping to the side and letting Roxanne zap both men into next Tuesday as they ran into the museum.

"Well, whatever we're going to do, we'd better do it quickly," she said as she ran out of Roxanne's eyesight.

Roxanne was growing more and more irritated as time passed and the further they got from her. She's going to have to somehow improvise - because chasing after them and randomly shooting bursts of flame just wasn't working.

So instead of charging right in after them in a straight line like she had been doing, she darted off somewhere to the left. Her aim was off since they were moving targets anyway - so she kept a watch as to where they were going (or at least - the general vicinity), and aimed her bursts at beams above heads, columns - whatever she could possibly think of to bring down around them. Things to obstruct paths, it didn't matter.

They just needed to be stopped long enough for her to get her hands on Megamind.

Lex was about to say something back to Tana, but a support column not too far ahead of them got blasted, and collapsed in front of them.

"We need to get out of here before she brings this whole place down on us!"

"No, we need to use this place," said Megamind, vaulting the downed column like a pro. He was used to being tremendously overpowered and running around and dodging things. "She has the advantage in power--we can't outrun her if she can fly, and we can't take her on in an straight fight. We have to use our surroundings against her!"

They barreled into a room filled with glass cases and strange artifacts, well ahead of her. There was a tapestry of some moose-looking creature hanging on a wall near the door. There were cases they could climb on to cut or untie the thing to get it down.

"There!" He pointed. "She's focused mostly on me. If I keep her distracted, that would give you both time to get that tapestry free from the wall, and we can use it to confine her! You know, roll her up like a murder-hungry, possessed burrito! Hopefully long enough to get someone down here to help her!"

"On it!" Tana answered and ran over to one of the cases, climbing up the glass case to one of the tassels. Unfortunately, she was just a little short of it, but if she just stretched a little bit more...

Her fingers brushed the silky tassel and pulled.

Anger is what propels Roxanne, and she has no idea of the burrito-fate that awaits her. Instead, she is concentrating on catching up and finding Megamind so she can return the favor she so rightly owes him. She will be running right into their trap.

"Ooooh, Megamind ~ Come out where I can see you~~!"

The whole idea seemed a little cartoonish to him, but Lex didn't have time to argue the point. Besides, if it didn't work, he could just drop a vase on her head, or something.

Lex was taller than Tana, so he was able to get a better grip on the rug, and pulled it down to where Tana could get a solid on it.

Megamind waited, standing there, bait and a distraction all in one, as she caught up to where they were.

"I'm here, Roxanne. After all I've done to you, I deserve to face your anger. I won't run anymore."

Wait for it... wait for it...

She had to be in the right spot.
