If the Darksoul wanted to start with the vulnerable, what better way to start than with a child?

Sasami was probably the happiest she had been in ages. Everything seemed to fit into place just perfectly - a string of friends arriving, them joining her in her house, finally getting a chance at doing her job. It felt like nothing could possibly go wrong.

A few moments later, something did. With Sasami unprepared for what had happened, the Darksoul pounced, the only thing letting anyone know something was wrong was a horrified scream leaving Sasami's lips.

"Hmm... perfect... the fools. They won't harm a child, I know they won't!" the Darksoul spoke. "They're too... kind to do something like that. Though, this is just the beginning. I need someone stronger..."

With that, summoning the trident, the Darksouled Sasami stalked off to find a target...

Hit Girl wasn't feeling too bad either: she'd just gotten some training done with Negi and the beginning magic was working out just fine. She also had still been flirting pretty casually, so overall? Couldn't be more pleased with herself.

And take a look at who just happened to be coming by: that Sasami girl, who was...talking to herself for some reason. The hell? And when did she start carrying a trident.

"You princess!" Hit Girl greeted. "What's going on?"

The moment its power touched him, he knew.

He had tasted power like this before. The malevolent power of long-dead gods, of ruthless priestesses, of the black pits of hell itself.

And, coldly, inevitably, he knew that his own failure to it was inevitable.

But he had time.

As the Darksoul sank into his essence, sapping the strength of his immortal blood and the divine birthright it carried, worming its way into the cracks of his mind, the elf sat down at his desk, opened his spellbook, and began to purge his memory of every spell he knew. He sealed away all the staffs and wands he could behind wards that he couldn't dispel without the proper spell memorized. He prepared...

and he fought... and, inevitably, he lost.

Perhaps now he could finally convince these blithering ignorami of the value of wizardry!

Darksoul!Sasami turned her head and noticed Hit Girl. She didn't seem powerful enough, but the Darksoul did sense a bit of animosity between the princess and the vigilante.

"Why do you care, human?" Darksoul!Sasami said, aiming the trident at her. "You always look after number one, so keep doing so, lest you wish to suffer..."

"The fuck?" Hit Girl looked at the girl. "Is this what happens when you get your time of the month or something? If so, you can scrape out my uterus right now, the bleeding is bad enough."

All jokes aside though, what the hell?

"Is that supposed to be a wand or something? You're not doing magic with the cute redhead too, are you?"

The initial crack, sadly, went over Darksoul!Sasami's head. The talk about Negi, however...

"...Negi's been teaching you magic?!" she said, an obvious part of Sasami's personality surfacing. The Darksoul was willing to twist it from curiosity to jealousy. "You... you stay away from him!"

Hit Girl rolled her eyes, evidently not getting the danger. "Hey, you can't call dibs just because you found him first, ok? He can teach whoever the hell he wants. Jeez princess, its just magic."

She grinned. "Well, for now anyway."

Okay. That did it. The jealousy that the Darksoul was twisting inside Sasami bubbled forth. Images of herself being abandoned by Negi filled her head as her grip on the trident tightened.

"I will not... let anyone have Negi. Especially a foul-mouthed, egotistical, gun-toting vigilante like you!" she roared, aiming the trident at her and unleashing a burst of Soulfire at Hit Girl.

Kaylee is looking for a good lesson in Engineering with Jamie. He's happier than normal, with the Doctor around and the idea of the TARDIS being found again. Hopefully, with him in such a fantastic mood, they'll be able to get plenty done today. Her first stop is one of the consoles closer to the pit, just to double-check Stacy's current stats and make sure everything is alright for work.

Well, it would have been her first stop. Two steps into the room, Kaylee stops. The nearest console seems to be glitching, and she waves Jamie on to go work while she moves to go fix whatever programming is screwing up. It isn't the first time something has spazzed out down here, no big deal.

Of course, when there's something waiting at said console, ready to pounce...

There's barely a whimper from Kaylee as the Darksoul takes its chance and strikes. The Darksoul stretches his new fingers and looks around the room. There's a man in a skirt not too far off, and he looks like the perfect target. The trident materializes in Kaylee's hand as she moves closer to Jamie.

"THE FUCK?!" She was too taken by surprise to get out of the way fully, and got singed on her right arm. She cried out a little here, then sucked in her breath. She had NO idea what brought this on, but she wasn't going to scream out. Overlord Zetta would be dishonored.

And right now? She was pissed the hell off.

"Somebody has a bit of a tricky finger," she said through her teeth, her eyes dancing with rage. "Too bad you gotta be so jealous of me with that Negi kid: I was thinking of hitting on him myself.

Hey, if she was gonna get hit for even talking about him, screw it.

"Ok bitch. You want to play with the big girls now?!"

And she ran towards the girl, moving a lot faster thanks to her training, fighting stick extended and aiming directly for a hit to Sasami's temple.

As Hit Girl's fighting stick came close, she deflected it with the trident. "Do not think of me as so frail, vigilante." Darksoul!Sasami said. "I'm not the sweet princess you know as. Besides... I got to him first."

Sasami grinned, pulling out the Pactio card and flashing it before putting it away. "I don't need that to put a brat like you in their place. And I'll gladly do it to the rest of the kids who think they're better than the others!" With that, she sent another burst of Soulfire at Hit Girl.

The deflection made her grit her teeth. Damn it, so she had that Pactio card. She was a little jealous of course, but not enough that she was going to get scared, although she was curious as to why Negi would teach this chick anything if she was going to do dangerous shit like this. She backed away, and there came another volley of that fire stuff.

Luckily, she WAS expecting the Soulfire attack this time and narrowly avoided it. Well, so much for talking.

Mostly.

"Practi biginaru Ardescat" She yelled, pulling her wand out and this time aiming for Sasami. "I don't know what crawled up your ass Princess, but don't think I'm backing away because you have some deranged fixation!"

Darksoul!Sasami winced as she moved to dodge the burst of fire, her arm getting caught in the blast. Her eyes turned back to face Hit Girl, glaring.

"Fixation? No, this isn't fixation, this is love. I will say it right here and now: I love Negi Springfield! And I will not have someone who hides her face behind a mask take him away!" she roared, a stream of Soulfire erupting from the trident, attempting to surround the vigilante and prevent her from escaping.

Cagalli was, to be honest, still a bit hesitant about just about everything on the ship - and that had in turn led to a bit of self-justified laziness. Poorly justified, but she didn't need much justification to take it easy after two straight years of constant shit coming at her before waking up here, and then having to deal with this.

This is why she was on her way to the public baths for the nth time when she gets a feeling that something's... off. A moment later, with barely a yelp, something indescribably dark had washed over her.

There was a moment of orientation before she looked around, slowly. "Yet another mortal, weak and frail... but not without her uses, as small a stepping stone as it may be." And suddenly, there was a trident in her hand and an evil grin on her face as she strode confidently off to the city.

First things first.
"Practi biginaru ventus." Thank you Negi, she will kiss you when she catches up with you, because her ass would be in big trouble right now without this: there was some air holding the fire back, though not for long.

"Well good for you," she said, struggling to keep the air around her, because CRAP this bitch was strong, "but he didn't mention a girlfriend to me. Even if he had, I wouldn't expect it to be a crazy psycho bitch like you. Maybe when you're acting like your lame, quieter self, but not this. Personally, though? I don't really see the appeal."

Ok, big risk BUT as she had no choice, she ran through the small second she had to get out the circle and turn, wand extended. This would hopefully knock her back.

"Undetriginta spiritus lucis. Sagitta Magica, Series Lucis: 29 spirits of light. Magic Archer, Barrage of 29 Light Arrow!"

And she fired them at Sasami with vigor.

There was a bunch of light arrows aimed at Darksoul!Sasami. There would be nowhere to run... except up. Aiming the trident upward, Sasami took off into the sky, a few of the arrows clipping the ends of her pigtails and cutting a few strands of hair.

"A valiant effort, Hit Girl. But not valiant enough. What more can you do, hmm?" she taunted.

"Aw dude, GAY!" She yelled, flipping Sasami the bird. Damn it, that was all she learned from Negi AND that chick had a Pactio! So much for taking her down with magic.

So time to do this HER way.

She had the glocks locked and ready, though she had to make sure not to hit anything vital: it was pretty obvious at this point that it was NOT Sasami, much as it pissed her off. She looked up at the trajectory she need, a fired a shot toward the leg.

That wouldn't kill or cripple, but it was enough to bring her ass down, right?

Burning her arm was one thing, Hit Girl. You're not going to get away with shooting her. Moving to the side, the bullet passed through Sasami's kimono harmlessly, though she felt a bit insulted.

"Guns. Really, now. You were being taught by Negi and you resort to guns?" Darksoul!Sasami said, aiming the trident at Hit Girl and unleashing more Soulfire, intending on super-heating the guns and take them out of the fight.

Eva's off-guard, wandering around the Great Wall of China and letting her mind roam. She's thinking back to when she and Peter, pretending they had the finances for it and the patience for such a flight, considered China as a honeymoon destination. Thinking back to when Edriss had pointed it out to her as the Pool Ship invisibly circled Earth.

Malevolence seizes her mind and instantly, she knows she's being invaded again, and by nothing good. The terror she feels gives her just enough time to fight back and grab the revolver from her hip and fling it over the wall, but before she can act on the impulse to tie her own hands or find some way to incapacitate herself, it's taken full control.

And besides, who needs a gun when you have a trident and can shoot soulfire? Filled to the brim with the violence of the Darksoul, Eva storms off in search of Iniss, or anyone else unfortunate enough to try and get in the way of years of pent-up rage and frustration.

Hey, I only had one lesson, so sue me bitch!" Hit girl said, ducking the Soulfire, but now her cape had to be taken off as it was already on fire. As it was, most of her uniform was slowly becoming tatters. The mask was still on, but it would only be a matter of time before Hit Girl and Mindy Macready were fully exposed. Not that cared about this at the moment as she was fighting hard not to get burned.

Besides, Negi said she was doing very well for a beginner, right? Fuck what possessed Sasami said.

"And you don't get to taunt me, you flew away like a fucking coward! Come down here and fight!"

Because if Sasami got closer, she might be able to take her hand to hand.

If there's one thing that Mei-Xing's lifestyle will do for someone, it's teaching them to scan the area quickly while on the move. Dashing from one street to the next Why was this fucking city so big?, she skids to a stop when she finally catches sight of the darksoul's particular twisted aura on the astral plane.

Blinking her vision into reality, she grins. It was Kissy! She couldn't fight for drek, anyway. She stops in the middle of the street and wipes a thumb under her nose. "Hey, darksoul! Are choices that bad?" Just noise, while she prepares a manabolt to hurl at Cagalli. It probably wasn't as careless now as it had been inside Daimon.

Still, she could probably use the exercise.

"Are you sure about that?" Darksoul!Sasami said. With that, the girl aimed the trident at Hit Girl and flew at her. As she got close, she turned the trident horizontally so that she could try and ram Hit Girl, knocking her to the ground.

"All these buildings and you'd think Titan's Tower would be one of them."

Yep there's Beastboy idly musing about the things he missed from the top of the Outsider's hotel.

Of coarse one thing he would never miss is baddies like Mad Mod. Weird that he would think of the elderly British criminal right now. With his weird music and spiral boards that always turned his brain to mush.

Speaking of brains...Beastboy felt the hairs on the back of his neck start to rise. An animal instinct deep inside him trying to cut through years of human domestication to warn him of...

Nope. Too late. There was a sinister grin, as the body began to grow and swell in size. The tell tale pentagram burned clear on his chest through green fur and muscle, and the trident appeared.

A mighty howl pierced the unsettling silence of the city. The Darksoul was on the move again and this time...he had the entire animal kingdom behind him.

Oh hell no, she wasn't going to just stand still, and she had already had the butterfly knife ready, just in case. As the girl ran toward her, they narrowly collided, and Hit girl's hands were ready: she gave a vertical slice that was just enough to let Sasami know she was serious.

Her heart was beating pretty fast though, and blood was pumping in her ears. That was close.

Sasami let out a yelp as the knife lashed out, striking her on the chest. A small part of the pentagram was exposed on the cut area, showing that she had been possessed.

"Lucky strike, Hit Girl, but not lucky enough!" she shouted, lunging back with the trident and attempted to stab her with it.
