Are you afraid of the Darksoul? [Part 2]
[[OOC: This right here is required reading if you're going to tag. OOC organization is here
For too long the firstborn son of Satan's demonic soul had been trapped, denied his rightful control over Daimon's body. Now, thanks to Mei-Xing, he was finally free. The next course of action was obvious- he would have to take control of one of the beings on this ship. He could start with the vulnerable and move on to the more powerful. He had to act fast before that fool recovered. Fortunately he needn't go very far. The city was full of potential victims.
Now, now. Who to possess first?

Now, now. Who to possess first?

And then that knot came back, more tangled and twisted then ever as he laid her crimes out before her. Just one of many that she and the other Vikings had performed against him as children. Before she could protest, apologize, or even ask what was going on he yanked on her hair and her head snapped in that direction, tears forming instantly as she let out a cry that was unlike any cry of pain she'd heard from her own mouth. It sounded...weak. Girlish.
"H-hiccup?" She asked startled as her heart began to race and try to prepare her body for what was coming next.

He threw her, by her hair, in front of him, then raised the trident and blasted soulfire in her direction.
no subject
Too confused for even her instincts to override her body it struck her clean in the chest knocking her flat again, the air crushed from her lungs leaving her wheezing. It felt like she'd just fallen ontop of a fire pit!
She looked up through watering blurry vision for Hiccup a questioning puzzled look hidden in a face twisted in pain.
no subject
Hiccup casually blasted her again before she could get up.
"No, I don't like you at all. In fact, you actually disgust me quite a bit. I just did all that for the look on your face just now--"
He chuckled a chuckle that sounded almost amicable. "I really wish you could've seen it, it was great. And betraying Astrid like that? I really am impressed. Especially since it means your tiny lil' brain made that decision that quickly--new record for you forming an actual coherent thought. Then again, none of you was really ever any good at that whole 'friend' thing in the first place, were you. That's the really hilarious thing with this--even after years of bullying, loneliness, isolation, and public embarrassment, it took all this--" he gestured to himself with his hand, at his chest and the mark on it "--to turn me into a jerk, when you guys were that way all along."
He leveled the trident at her again.
"What was your excuse?"
no subject
"I..." she shook her head to clear it, "...I messed up." A confession that wasn't necessary. "I'm sorry." She added unable to look him in the eye.
no subject
Hiccup stepped towards her, pointing the trident at her, and it started to glow, looking red-hot as soulfire gathered around it, building into what was likely going to be a monumental blast.
"You don't get forgiveness here. No more Mr. Nice Viking..."

Along the way, she asked Stacy for the boy's location and with that help it lead her into the city. It all started when they received the message. Mei-Xing's public message rattled Astrid with a strong feeling of apprehension.
And now she understood why.
Astrid didn't get a chance to finish rounding that last corner when she saw them. Her body locked up and for what may have been a few seconds or a minute felt like an eternity as she didn't move, the corner of the building half-obscuring her.
Kissing. Her best friend. Her boyfriend.
Smile. He's smiling--
She's probably never made this face before. It was impossible to describe what she was feeling now. Was it healthy to feel this many all at once? She should be angry -- no, she should be utterly furious. Vehement, stomping out of the shadows and giving them a piece of her mind, laying the smack down on both their asses. That's the Astrid she knew.
...Not this Astrid. This girl so shaken up inside she could barely budge from hiding. She couldn't even help her best friend in trouble as Ruffnut was thrown around and heartlessly taunted. This shouldn't be affecting her this much; her quick, sound judgment knew all along that it was the darksoul's fault. That it wasn't Hiccup actually enjoying...
Then, her lungs were working again. He was about to do something horrible to Ruffnut and there was no time to think or feel. So, she did the last thing she only knew how in such critical circumstances.
Astrid forced herself into action and hurled her axe. There was another problem present: how to get that darksoul out of him without damaging Hiccup. Well, without hurting him too severely.
But right now, she'll just aim her axe at that unsightly thing he was holding.
no subject
Hiccup turned to look at Astrid and looked thrilled, ignoring Ruffnut for the time being, to focus his attention on the other Viking female.
"Oho! The ice queen cometh! You saw the kissing part, right? Where I was kissing Ruffnut? Instead of you? With tongue?"
Darting out his tongue, he made a little undulating motion with it.
no subject
...No, she shouldn't let on she knows of the darksoul corrupting his mind. It was her boyfriend slandering her right now.
She straightened her back and stared him down, analyzing. And by the sound of it, it doesn't know how long she's been standing over there. Though, how long can she hold this up until she can think of something? It will take a lot of restraint to keep a cool facade, but she had to remind herself she's a pro at that kind of thing.
Astrid's face softened, her lips a brief disheartened smile. "That awful look doesn't suit you, Hiccup."
Then she nonchalantly threw her hands out at her sides and shook her head, the smile replaced with a smirk. "Though I gotta' say that tongue thing is adorable. Really." She tried her best to sound indifferent. The Ice Queen, right?
Talk to the invisible hand, dark!Hiccup, while she speaks to Ruffnut for a minute. "...Ruff, it's okay. Hiccup's having another crisis again. We just have to smack some sense into him."
Now get up, because she might need your help here in a second - it probably wasn't the best plan to instigate him like that.

Rage was pulsing through his veins right now, and barely restrained violence was tightly coiled in his scrawny muscles, quivering under his skin.
It was clear he wanted to hurt them, but he also wanted to hurt them. Whether that was the Darksoul or something buried far, far down inside Hiccup that'd only been unleashed by it wasn't clear. Maybe it came from they dark, deep place where the two crossed over into each other.
"This look isn't so bad, Astrid. That's a bit of an exaggeration. You exaggerate a lot in general--you do realize that, don't you? For instance, how me being a little awkward and weak was something you exaggerated into my being a hopeless failure that you couldn't be seen around, back when we were kids. Remember that? That was fun, those years of having you turn up your nose at me in the street, knowing everybody else in the village half-hoped I'd just get carried off by a dragon during a raid sometime so I'd be out of their hair."
no subject
She has to steer off that topic. Astrid placed her hands on her hips and tilted her head, scornfully. "Hiccup, you're acting really hostile and stupid right now. You understand the consequences if you get too close to me while you're like that..."
Although she stood seemingly unfazed, she was tense and ready to defend herself if necessary.
And she's thinking necessary. Definitely can't be wise to underestimate just what power the Darksoul was truly capable of.
no subject
She growled shaking aware that Astrid had caught them. She was aware that really the only honorable path was to let Astrid beat the tar out of her.
But that could wait. With lighting crackling from her fists her aching muscles the girl to her feet without a word. But while her body was preparing for combat her eyes were distant and faded. She was there, but she wasn't "There"
The only thoughts that were processing were pain.
no subject
Soulfire flared in both hands.
"So I think I don't even need my trident--I'm going to tear you both apart with my bare hands. It's the Viking way."
One hand was aimed Ruffnut's way and the other Astrid's way as he blasted, but this time, both had the advantage of being prepared. They had time to dodge, and they also had him outnumbered.
no subject
Fortunately, Astrid got her game face on and made a swift one-handed cartwheel out of harms way, snatching up her thrown axe and she's back in a ready stance. "You are a Viking, Hiccup. Always were..."
She grinned. "But let's get one thing straight, Hiccup: in your current state, you will never put a scar on my body."
Okay, that came out kinkier than she intended. She inwardly chastised herself. Focus, Astrid, you can't get overly excited in this fight; this is not suppose to be fun at all.
--besides she's still pissed about that freaking kiss!
So, yes, she's armed again. Bad thing is, both her and the darksoul knows she can't bring herself to use it on Hiccup. There's gotta' be some way...
no subject
Instead of dodging she brought up her buckler rushing the boy, soulfire making her buckler sing as she charged forward, scrambled really.
She swung, a clumsy swing. Zetta would be howling with dissapointment, but she was twisting and twirling inside torn between anger and sorry, pain and guilt. The mix of emotions was eating her up on the inside when she most needed to be focused on the boy in front of her.
Warning: For really crass stuff and talk of bad touch
He took the hit, a punch to the face. He'd take every hit as long as it wasn't incapacitating. That'd make it harder for them, wouldn't it? Watching the boy bleed? Ever the victim, this kid, that much was clear, always in trouble, always losing pesky little things like limbs. They must be tired of watching him suffer, so how would they feel if they added to it? The more he bled, the harder it'd be for them to hurt him.
Besides, that let him get in close to Ruffnut, with a friendly blast of soulfire to reward her for her efforts. Another was shot Astrid's way to keep her busy.
"Shame you have to be such an ice witch the rest of the time. Seven months and you're still blue-balling me? Come on! It's almost like you think I like you for who you are instead of seeing you as a walking pair of tits I can sometimes grope when you're sleeping."
no subject
Grope. Hah, impossible. She would have surely stirred awake, but some nights she admittedly can be a heavy sleeper. ...They'll have to discuss that later. No time, no time.
"Do I frustrate you that much? Flattering," she said dryly, turning sideways and leaning away some out of the soulfire's path, only the free flaps of her skirt taking an unlucky graze when the flame passed.
Hold on. That fire. The heat.
Astrid's eyesbrows lifted as she glanced down at her skirt, surprised his 'intense hatred' hadn't scorched the ends completely. Then, she suddenly smirked. A realization struck her.
She stuck her axe in the ground, standing it up and immediately worked out a quick message on her comm. Let him throw a hissy and another blast if he assumes she's not paying attention, unless he likes moving targets.

Like a yah'ed mule, the minion of the Overlord came racing up, the book in her hands practically cackling in anticipation over this upcoming confrontation (because of course, Zetta intended to pick on any other demons on the ship, as was his nature). But the scene ahead wiped that grin off his face, replacing it with slack-jawed shock.
The kind-of-a-wuss Viking kid attacking his own girlfriend with evil fire? Ruffnut, looking weak and rattled and barely even to fight as he attacked her too? Hey, the Viking girl was losing her skirt --
Wait. Ruffnut, looking weak and rattled and barely even able to fight?
The Overlord's hot rages came on swiftly, were sound and fury, and vanished just as fast when he forgot to be angry. They're what most people would recognize as an angry Zetta.
This was a cold rage.
"What the hell are you doing to my apprentice, kid?"
no subject
no subject
Uh, back to cold rage.
"So. Suddenly you get a trickle of power from somewhere and think you're the big man, huh?"
no subject
Astrid was determined to get this finished before the exorcists arrived, anyway.
"Book, can you make sure nothing happens to Ruff? I'm going to be busy here." A spanking is in order.
Now down to business.
The little distinction she caught earlier relieved her, though she didn't understand it either. When the blast of fire soared past her, even at that proximity, it wasn't severely hot. And when you've been promoted to fire patrol, extinguishing the scorching flames of so many winged beasts on a regular basis night raid after night raid, you tend to know how hot fire truly can be.
Astrid frowned. "I'm a little disappointed you won't be able to scar me after all, Hiccup," she grumbled, unhooking the pouch at her hip and dropping it near her axe.
Next, her hands were occupied with her skirt, taking it off her body. But don't get too excited, dark!Hiccup.
Mindful of the spikes, she begins slipping her left arm through the bottom opening, her left hand coming out at the thick waistband, grasping the band and holding the piece of battle-wear steady on her arm, creating something close in the same vein as a spiked leather gauntlet, but not, as most of the outer layers hung off her arm like a sadistic veil.
It's slightly heavy, but she has it on her good shield arm, so thankfully it won't restrict her movement much at all. It will have to do.
Another sigh and Astrid closed her eyes. "Now, I just can't believe how easy this will be."
Her eyes snapped open and she rushed him.
no subject
As Zetta arrived she found she could only stare dumbly up at him, actually he'd probably approve of what she'd just done so he'd be no help to her at this time.
Gods could you be any more pathetic? Her vision went hazy again and re focused, head pounding painfully with her brothers voice cursing her out. Seriously you are like the worst viking ever. I wonder if Mom and dad would have let me trade you for a goat or something. I bet I could teach it to fight.
Ignoring how frightfully clear her imagination was becoming it took all her mental effort to return to the moment at hand. Astrid was smiling. Good...good that meant she had a plan. Astrid was smart like that. Always had been. As Astrid rushed forward to meet Hiccup Ruffnut's contribution was a half hearted kick at his still flesh leg. Hopefully that'd make sure he couldn't dodge.
...or he'd dodge just fine and then blast her to bits for being such a horrible disloyal comrade in arms. Whatever.
no subject
Ruffnut managed to get him off balance, and Astrid bowled him right over, slamming him into the ground.
Hiccup snarled at them both, pinned by Astrid, struggling to get his hands up so he could blast them.
"Primitive fools! You think you can save him? I'll devour your souls!"
no subject
The minion advanced slowly, then set the book down seemingly in midair. Around it, with its rage, power began to build. Not directed, nor focused, nor for a purpose -- just the mana power of the strongest being in the cosmos, unchecked, like a stuffy aura.
"Devour souls?" the book demanded softly. "You don't have the power. You don't have the strength. For all that fire and crap you're flinging around, you're still nothing."
Either the Overlord is attempting to infuriate the darksoul, making himself rather than the girls a target and possibly leading it to make a mistake... or he's just mocking Hiccup.
