The Sinking Feeling You Get When You Eat Magic Food

Welcome meatship crewmembers to the instrument of pure silly.

It had been a long period of waiting, but a prank was about to be issued after these dire dark times. As such, tables were set up around the WITCH Bus and other locations, unmanned stands where Lemonade and Brownies were available with the compliments of your friendly companions.

Do you dare risk chocolately goodness or sour-sweetness to discover it's dark delicious secrets?

(ooc: tag around, bug others and feel free to continue to madness. IC duration is about a day. Unless you deliberately take more with you. As a reminder, Lemonade brings you up ages to a good looking adultish level. Brownies turn you into kids. GO NUTS. Refer to the ooc post for details and ask questions there.)

Billy looked for another moment...wow, Katara was wonderful. There would be a happy future ahead of her, right?

Shaking those thoughts off before she could read too much into them, he pulled his knees up to his chest. "I thought you'd be interested in using your...increased stature to enjoy yourself. Act in the adult's part, not look after yet another kid."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugged. "I could I guess, but what would be the point if you're stuck in a form that makes you feel like you're at a disadvantage? I want you to enjoy your form too. Besides, I never said that I had a problem looking after children anyway."

Oh, she could think of a lot of things she could be doing, but she didn't mind looking after the ones that turned into kids. Who knows, maybe she could ask Negi about this some other time.

Billy flopped back to study the sky as he used to, identifying the clouds in his head. A small mumble of "...cumulus" might be heard.

"You would have fun, Katara. I know how to stay in safe places. I had to learn that long before gaining the ability to defend myself...which I've now lost. But I can invent something."

He ran a finger over his morpher---it was cold, and that scared him. He instantly knew that his powers wouldn't work.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know I would. I never said that I wouldn't have fun, of course! But come on Billy, you know I'm not just going to go and leave you alone when you feel uncomfortable with the body in the first place."

She watched him with the morpher. "You okay?"

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-18 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That was true enough. Billy was happy, and...if he really was the age he appeared to be, he'd be snuggling up to her right now.

He rolled the morpher over in his hands, starting to look worried. "It won't respond to me. As long as I'm stuck in this form, I'm powerless."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
All he would have to do was ask, believe it or not. She loved kids, and obviously Billy was more than welcome.

She looked rather relaxed though. "In that case, its more than enough of a reason to stick by you. I know you probably don't want a babysitter, but if someone attacked you while I was around, I would never forgive myself."

Before, Billy would have found it irritating. He would survive this, but he had to admit that having her close was comforting.

Maybe he'd just inch closer to her on the grass.

"Thanks," he answered, sitting up and picking up a stone. Could he still skip it across the lake? He hadn't done so for years, but he understood the principle well enough. Select a smooth one, position your hand just so, and...

...no. He'd need more practice in this body.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara also didn't mind having a younger Billy to take care of. He was usually the older, smarter of the Bonded, which was something Katara admired. Having him younger and needing protection, Katara didn't mind making sure no one harmed hi

She grinned, picking up the stone and lightly skipping it across the water, looking at Billy.

"Now you. See if you can get the throw and the lightness of impact right."

How was she always so skilled at everything? Billy frowned, finding one to try again.

"I can calculate the force and angle needed, but I don't know my body well enough to hit my mark yet." But he'll try again---almost, but still not very good.

One more time. Billy tried to be patient with himself. She wouldn't laugh, right?

And there was the noise. That was a little better.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Believe it or not, she was actually good at this because of martial arts: in its own way, you had to feel out the way you threw and the actual way it would hit the water. Ina way, it was its own science.

"That's why I'm able to do it," Katara admitted. 'I don't know how to calculate like you do, but I do know my own strength."

And no, she wouldn't laugh. She simply waited, and gave him a reassuring nod.

Billy kept his eyes out on the lake, trying again...and again...hey, the sixth try wasn't too bad! He'd never beat Katara, not even in his own body, but at least that was something.

He moved to sit next to her, watching the last of the ripples die away.

"...were you thinking about raising children?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
He was getting better, that was good. He would get the hang of it soon enough. She would wait.

When he stood beside her, she nodded toward him, skipping another stone.

"...One day," she said, smiling. "I love all of the kids in my village, but my own? That would be amazing."
morphitudinous: (Kid!Billy)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-19 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Billy could sense that. "You're going to be a wonderful mother," he says, perhaps sounding slightly ridiculous from a kid.

"I haven't even dated, so it's slightly ridiculous to think about, but...maybe I'll consider it someday. When we win."

They would, right? Billy was still creeping closer to her. Why was the urge to curl up so strong?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope so," Katara said, thinking of her own mother. "I have a lot to live up to, to be honest."

And she smiled. "I hope you do. I've always wanted a woman to see all of the wonderful things about you Billy. But you need confidence. Don't doubt yourself on important things. You should listen to what Rene and I say: you're a lot stronger than you think."

She brought him over and hugged him.
morphitudinous: (Kid!Billy)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-19 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"You will", he knew, confirming it with an earnest nod.

Then his face reddened with her praise, only worsening when she gave him the hug he'd wanted. Here, Katara, have a small Billy snuggling close.

"I'm trying to work on that. I just haven't had many chances to prove myself."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," she said, ruffling his hair.

She didn't think anything bad of Billy;\'s snuggling: in fact she brought him closer.

"You will too," she said, "as long as you know that yourself, okay?"

morphitudinous: (Kid!Billy)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-19 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Katara..." Her name died off on his lips, almost sounding like a plea. For what, he didn't know, but he knew that he wanted to stay here.

It was warm and safe, like very few things Billy had known in his life. And if he could get away with curling close as a cute kid...why not? Heaven knew the two of them let Renne get away with anything because he was cute.

When he pulled back to look up at her face, he felt much better. "Did you ever watch clouds?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
She would be okay. She knew, to an extent, there were some things children wished they had but didn't, but it was ok with Billy.

She had nothing against Billy being a kid. How could she? You rarely got to stay one for any point. She gestured off, in case he wanted to venture off.

But he didn't. "Yeah, I did," she said. "What about them?"

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-19 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Did you want to see what we find?"

Billy is curious about this. It's a silly game, but the shapes mean different things to different people. And it's the kind of game he wouldn't be willing to try as a teenager.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course I do," Katara said, waiting. "There are a lot of things I want to know. What are you thinking?"

She watched.
morphitudinous: (Kid!Billy)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-19 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
What's he thinking?

"...that one looks like a dolphin," Billy points, a small smile on his face. "There's a tail, and the nose, and the way it curves...or is it a banana?"

In between those observations, he speaks more seriously. "I've been preoccupied with this predicament. You say that it's temporary, but I've always trained myself to prepare for the worst---so in the event that this is permanent, I'll need to invent new ways to defend myself. I was imagining smaller weapons."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
A what now? Dolphin? Banana? What were those things? Still, she was sure he would explain all of that anyway. And what was cuter than a boy looking at clouds?

She laughed. "Of course you were. You always stayed prepared Billy. It's what I like about you. You don't let things like this drag you own. That is why I keep telling you that you ARE the leader power ranger, you know."

"Actually, the Red Ranger is traditionally the leader," Billy explained. "That's why it took me so long to decide who to hand that morpher to. I had to trust him, and I realized that Jamie would be the best leader. He's stronger on tactics, and I'm stronger on technology. I hope we can balance each other"

Billy leaned back, watching that cloud drift away. Why hadn't Katara said anything else? Now that he considered it, she looked confused. "Oh---your world didn't have those, right? Here," and he called up two objects. A tiny dolphin statue was in one of his hands, and a banana filled the other. "Dolphins are sea creatures, and bananas are fruit. The pulp underneath the peel is delicious."

He also wondered what she thought it looked like.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-19 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I figured that," Katara saiid. "I spoke with him about it not too long ago. He's pretty happy to be Red, and I think it suits him. But you ought to have figured out that I would see you as their mentor, if not their leader, because you're the one who's been here from that world. I think you'll balance each other pretty easily. Jamie is a really great guy."

Her eyes widened when she saw the dolphin, and held it for awhile. "It's a sort of animal underwater," she murmured. "Wow. I really wish we had creatures like this in my world."

She'd take his word for the banana thing.

She look at the clouds herself, settling down. "That looks like a fox antelope!" She said. "Ooh, and that one like a singing groundhog!:

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-19 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That was enough to satisfy Billy. He stretched his arms out, careful to avoid hitting Katara.

"Would you like to see them in the water? In certain areas, it's popular to swim with the dolphins. They're friendly."

That last sentence startled him, though. He could see the fox, yes, but..."groundhogs sing?"

Please explain that one.
