The Sinking Feeling You Get When You Eat Magic Food

Welcome meatship crewmembers to the instrument of pure silly.

It had been a long period of waiting, but a prank was about to be issued after these dire dark times. As such, tables were set up around the WITCH Bus and other locations, unmanned stands where Lemonade and Brownies were available with the compliments of your friendly companions.

Do you dare risk chocolately goodness or sour-sweetness to discover it's dark delicious secrets?

(ooc: tag around, bug others and feel free to continue to madness. IC duration is about a day. Unless you deliberately take more with you. As a reminder, Lemonade brings you up ages to a good looking adultish level. Brownies turn you into kids. GO NUTS. Refer to the ooc post for details and ask questions there.)

"Yes, I noticed," Katara said dryly, laughing. "You were able to move around a lot quicker than normal. You are getting better, in case you were wondering."

Katara is more than willing to let the dolphin take her along and it does just that. She let's out a yelp, but replaces that with a cheer as she repositions herself so her legs were gripping the dolphin more. She looks over at Billy and grins.

"You were right! This is fun!"

That brought a pleased blush to his face. "I'm glad."

Then they were off, and it took him a moment to arrange himself into a proper riding position. There, that should be comfortable for dolphin and human. They lagged slightly behind Katara, but that was okay.

"Glad you like it---but watch out, they might move faster." Billy took a breath when he felt his dolphin shift, and sure enough they were gliding under the waves in another second. Wow.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-21 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara had no fear as the dolphin sped up, just as used to this as she was to penguin sledding (which, ironically, she had already done with Alex earlier). She was splashed quite a bit, and every so often got a mouthful of water, but these were just minor inconveniences. This was still lots of fun.

And now they WERE moving faster, and Katara hung on tighter, cheering all the more. Yes, it would be a good idea to not slip off: she was sure she'd get lost in a fury of waves.

Billy re-emerged beside her just then, hair dripping in his eyes. As the dolphin started changing direction, he clung to his ride and smiled at Katara. She sounded so happy----he'd say she looked it, but without glasses and with all this water it was difficult to see.

They wouldn't really be in trouble if they slipped off, but held on anyway. "I wasn't expecting this intensity, but I like it."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Katara knew that Billy saw she was having fun, and watched him have a go with the dolphin he was riding. He looked like he was having food too, so she gave him a wave as the dolphin dived into the water now, taking her with him.

Of course this didn't bother her. It was useful to make a bubble that allowed her to breath.

Billy wished he could do that. He leaned against his dolphin's back and slipped into the water, holding his breath for as long as he could.

If he needed to breathe, all he had to do was nudge.

Having fun yet? he asked.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
The dolphin dived quite a bit deeper than would have been normal for a human to go under and rose up again, Katara bringing her hands up and jumping off the dolphin for a moment, diving into the water herself. A moment later, her dolphin friend nudged under her and she was on again, grinning.

YES!!!
morphitudinous: (A majestic unicorn?)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Billy looked on somewhat enviously, just riding along.

Of course you would as the queen of the waters, he observed. He settled for watching her.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's more than that, Katara admitted, ceasing riding with the dolphin a moment and looking at Billy, her hair undone and looking relaxed. Water has always made me feel free. At times, it really gave me strength. It still does now.

She motioned for him to join her.

It's fascinating to watch, Billy added. He marveled at her grace, the happiness there. It's...similar, in a way, to watching a bird in flight.

He gave his dolphin a fond pat and departed, swimming close to her. What is it?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Katara wasn't surprised that Billy would describe it like that. In a way, there was a subtle beauty in the way Billy described that.

Something like that, yes. Then again, Aang would know more than I do about flying. She waited until he got close, and swiftly dunked his head in, giggling,

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Of course he---whoa!

Billy saw her hand just before it happened and almost rose a hand to block, but the water was invading his orifices before he could think another thought.

Excuse him while he thrashes to get free. What was that for?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
She waited until he came back up, and she still had no malice on her face: rather, she looked rather happy.

I was just teasing, sorry. Are you ok? She didn't hold him for that long.

She had something she wanted to say, actually...but she had chosen instead to randomly mess with Billy.

I'm fine. It's impossible to truly injure someone in here, Billy reminded, flicking his dripping hair. Not in her direction, because that would just be vengeful and silly.

He paddled in front of her warily. "Was there really something other than mischief on your mind?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Vengeful and silly, although Katara would have perfectly understood and welcome that sort of retaliation.

She smiled. "Well yeah, I guess I was just thinking how happy I am that you guys came around. On the ship, I have this tendency to make a few friends, and because of that there's some holes where all of my memories fit, so I know some got re podded. I know that if it ever happened to any of us, we'd feel it and be pretty devastated. But we would help that person out, and we'd be there. I have a lot of people to thank, but you and Renne specifically, for when Sokka left."

She stared on, a little sad. "It made it a little easier when Zuko left too."
morphitudinous: (Back of a head)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Katara," Billy called to her softly, eyes sad. He propelled himself closer, reaching for her shoulder.

"I've felt the losses too, and I'd be lying through my teeth if I said I didn't worry. It's considerably easier to calm myself with the two of you present, and even if you leave, I know I'll have something powerful to hold onto."

He shuddered. Billy really didn't like to think about any of them leaving, but he knew it was a possibility.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad to hear it," she said, and she grabbed him into a hug.

"I know its hard to be pulled away from the team that matters a lot to you, that helped you become part of who you are. I just hope you always know you can come to me for anything, and don't be afraid to talk to me about anything. That feeling you just described, it goes double for me."

Katara felt the same way Billy did about either of them leaving, not when they were becoming so close.
morphitudinous: (Display of affection)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
In his mind, for just a moment, he could see the faces of all the people he missed dearly. It was hard, but having this was enough.

"You'll definitely hear more from me."

Billy held her there for as long as she wanted, well aware of how slippery he was. As the friends embraced, the two dolphins made happy sounds and leapt as one over their heads.

"...huh."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
There were quite a few places where memories were missing: these were the most regretful things of being stuck on Stacy: knowing there were people that were no longer in her mind even though she could definitely remember some of the things she did with them then.

"Good. I have a feeling in the coming few days we might have a lot more things to say to each other."

Oh, she was thinking Matt here, and is sadly unaware of the missions eh would be taking part in soon.

Katara looked up as the dolphins leapt over their heads, and she giggled. "These dolphins are definitely one of the more active creatures I've ever met in awhile! I wonder why they did that?"
morphitudinous: (Default)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can hardly wait," he joked, watching the dolphins wave their tails at them.

"They're friendly and perceptive creatures. People on my world are fascinated by them," Billy explained, watching them swim away. "Do you want to head out and dry off, or would you rather torment me some more"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara, fully returned to her normal state, took this time to give Billy a defiant sticking out of her tongue.

"I can see why. I already have a thing about water, but these creatures, its like they're full of secrets all their own. I really do wish something like them existed in our world."

She grinned. "No, we can come in. I guess you could say I wanted to explore my playful side. I might as well enjoy it, now that I think about it: I'll never get it back, right?"
morphitudinous: (Default)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy nodded, then looked puzzled as they started toward the shore.

"...what do you mean you'll never get it back?" That wouldn't do at all, he thought.

Don't look now, Katara, but someone's flicking water at you.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I mean that I'll be turning sixteen soon," she said, "and it'll have meant I spent two years already on this ship. I've been keeping track. I don't really know a lot about the days, but I do know that acting like a kid will be happening less and less, the more danger we face."

She looked down thoughtfully a moment, casually catching the water and flinging it back at Billy.
morphitudinous: (We're not dweebs. Really.)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-11-22 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a problem, he agreed. And he'd felt the same way. Billy did nothing to dodge the water, instead letting it splatter him with a mirroring thoughtful look on his face.

"I'm almost eighteen," Billy started slowly, "and I still play with you and Renne. It doesn't interfere with my official duties, of course, but I need to see you smiling. To know that danger's out there, but it's not our entire lives."

Billy moved closer to her, a shy smile on his face. "I was just like you, Katara. I knew that I had to be a responsible adult and avoid all that silliness. Then you two came along and I started to unwind. What I'm saying is that we're both mature enough to do our duties, but we'll keep finding time to escape. I know you're more than clever enough."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-11-22 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
She laughed lightly. "It's not like I don't want to play Billy: nothing would make me happier. But unlike you, the idea of playing and having fun wasn't really an option with a war going on. Not that I'm not going to play with you or Renne: I just know that I'd better take the time to do it when the opportunity is there."

She smiled. "Nothing makes me happier than the time I get to spend with you two, with the exception of maybe one more person. But I agree with you, of course: I think we should take the time to unwind when we can."
