Halloween Party

Who knows why the ship was doing this. Maybe it was some kind of social experiment. Maybe Stacy was feeling festive and somewhere, out there, it was Halloween. Maybe the players just wanted to have Halloween fun. No one would ever know, would they.

In any case, what better place for a Halloween dance than a graveyard? In an area in the center, clear of headstones, there was a dance floor, and there were seats and tables with skeletal frames. Somehow grisly carved torches and jack-o-lanterns of varying sizes and shapes, cast enough eerie light to light up the place, despite the fact it was night. There were places to bob for apples, popcorn balls on strings strung up for people to try to eat for games involving that. The food tables will full of Halloweeny snacks and candy.

Far off, there was a haunted house, decrepit and foreboding. It seemed people could look into it if they dared sent down the dark trail to where it was. [ooc: Haunted house post link forthcoming].

Creepy--but danceable music was playing, from nowhere.

Perhaps most notable was the fact that the moment someone entered the Sensorium, they would find themselves in a costume. Sometimes these costumes would be what the character themselves would choose, but sometimes they'd be dressed as something strange, embarrassing, or just something they wouldn't even recognize. Leaving and coming back wouldn't fix the problem, in most cases. The costumes wouldn't change, and if they did, it wasn't guaranteed that they'd change to something better.

Whatever the case, party hard, Meatship. Somebody's got to teach the Vikings, draconians, aliens, and other sundry people to Thriller dance.

Devlin, who was dressed in black, ancient Chinese-styled armor with red highlights (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm989233664/tt0938283), facepalmed immediately.

"I'm not with him," he moaned.

"Oh yeah? Lemme tell you something Devlin Levin: I make this look good!" And Rath lapelled, straightening his outfit out with a smirk. Clearly the Rath ego was in full force.

Sorry, but that palm was not leaving Devlin's face. Not without a crowbar, unless Ben was going to tone it down a lot.

It was one thing to be a total ninny. It was another to be, well, BEN. And he was hamming it up as he exclaimed "Oooh snacks!"

Katara, who happened to walk by, spied Devlin's outfit. She stopped a minute, stared, opened her mouth, then closed it and walked on.

For some reason, that outfit bugged her but she didn't know why. It was the same way she felt about that Ember Island version of herself and Aang...

"Huh?" Devlin asked, seeing Katara's look of confusion. All he could think was that maybe his costume wasn't as cool to her as it was to him.

He really hoped that wasn't the case. After all, he was getting enough embarrassment from his dad.

Hikari giggled, moving close to Devlin. "Aww, don't worry about it, just enjoy the party!"

She was dressed as Angewomon (http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/105431466/23432721), oddly enough. And she wasn't all that upset by the costume.

"Yeah," Devlin groaned. "I just wish he wasn't so embar--"

It was at that point he actually looked at Hikari. Seeing her costume, he couldn't do much more than stammer.

"Wow, you..."

Well, there went his brain.

Hikari blinked, looking over at Devlin. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Re: Costumes

[identity profile] farfrom-tree.livejournal.com 2010-10-29 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Why did he always end up looking incredibly stupid around her?

"Nothing!" he insisted quickly. "You look great!"

Re: Costumes

Hikari giggled. "Aww, thank you. You look pretty cool yourself!"

"Thanks," Devlin answered. Okay, this was a little better--he wasn't blushing yet, at least.

"So, what do you think of the party?"

Don't worry Devlin, Hikari can fix that!

The young girl smiled, moving closer to Devlin and wrapping her arms around him. "So far it looks pretty cool!"

[identity profile] farfrom-tree.livejournal.com 2010-10-29 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, there was the blush. Devlin was going to have to find some way to actually manage to look cool around Hikari, and not just go speechless and blushy.

"Yeah," he agreed. "I'm glad Stacy did this. It's a lot of fun."

Re: Costumes

[identity profile] chosenlightchld.livejournal.com 2010-10-29 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hikari giggled as she noticed Devlin's blush. "Me too!" she said, hugging him for a few more seconds before pulling away.

And now Devlin was really, really red. But smiling like an idiot, so it was okay.

"What should we check out first?" he asked.

Hikari giggled. "Maybe the food... although I don't think it's real anyway but still..."

"But it'll be nice to have some candy," Devlin agreed. Sweets were kind of a luxury sometimes and real or not, sugar was sugar.

"That's true!"
