Podpop

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescenet lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

Chosen. Everyone here was chosen? She looks young. All vague thoughts. She was starting to follow Einhart, but--

"Huh?" The fact that everyone else could speak suddenly became rather apparent to Terra. "Uh--" Yes. The answer is yes. "Where are we supposed to...?"

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Einhart sighed, turning around. "I'm... we're supposed to follow the lights."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"It seems like it'll lead us to wherever we need to go," added Reimi helpfully. "I'm Reimi and this is Einhart. And you are?"

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ashley," she replied automatically. It got easier and easier to use that fake name as time went on.

The fact that she was naked was starting to set in. Really, there were a lot of other things to focus on right now, though.

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Einhart nodded. "It's... nice to meet you."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ashley." nodded Reimi. Another earth girl probably. She was kinda cute too. "We should move together. There's no telling what kind of weird stuff they have at the end of these lights."

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
With a sort of understanding, she blinked. "You think they'll have clothes?"

Because that was starting to be a point of concern.

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Einhart blushed a bit. "They better," she mumbled out. Not that it really was that bad for her, since she could use her barrier jacket, but she didn't even feel like covering up at the moment while everyone else was in a similar position to her.

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Let's hurry. It may be warm in here, but I don't like the idea of this slime stuff drying on me."

Adjusting her long tresses of hair across her breasts, Reimi ushered the pair along into the next chamber.

And blundered into tentacles.

"ASCSADFGSDFGDS!" exclaimed Reimi as she was hoisted up to be cleaned up.

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Terra took one step back before saying, "W-wait, I don't think you're supposed to fight it!" If it was part of the ship, and the ship loved them...

(The love of a mother's voice. She didn't have that much in her life. Maybe it influenced her a bit too much.)

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Einhart tried to dodge another one of the tentacles, but nope, she was grabbed just as easily, and she continued struggling.

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-01 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Reimi was hoisted up and she squeezed her eyes shut as the tentacles cleaned her up, slurping the goop off and even getting it out of her hair. The plantsuit came next and she was lowered, shivering. "Oh... my...."

Looking up, she winced. "What a first impression."

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
In contrast, though Terra shivered, she didn't freak out nearly as much. As a girl who claims to be completely normal, she wasn't giving off that vibe.

Soon, she too was dressed in the plantsuit and lowered to the ground.

"...Talk about a way to get clean," she said weakly.

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Einhart stared as she was lowered to the ground, now clad in a plantsuit herself. "This suit... feels weird."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Fascinating," remarked Reimi, feeling it over. "It seems to be a living suit, not in animal life but plant life. How remarkable." She pulled at the sleeves. "And it's highly durable. I would love to study this further..."

She looked over at the lights indicating their next destination. "We should head there," said Reimi, pulling her hair over her shoulder.

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Terra stretched her arms out. Well, she wouldn't have to worry about it constricting. Too skin-tight, she thought idly, though. She rather liked feeling the air on her skin instead.

"...Yeah. That looks about right."

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Einhart frowned. "So, where do we go now?"

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, we don't know until we get there I guess," said Reimi as she nudged the group towards the next area of the ship which was filled with lockers and loose items. "Oh good, a possessions area."

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Possessions. She wondered what they might have there. She started looking over it, and--

Terra.

She quickly covered up the name, opening her locker. This ship was going to kill her.

And inside sat a pair of goggles. She almost swore.

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Einhart blinked over at Ashley, but immediately went to open up her locker... and found not much in there, actually. She frowned, although she did have a few things in here, nothing was really all that important to her.

She took them anyway, of course, but still...

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Reimi opened her own and yelped as a venerable pile of items fell to the floor. "Well... that's strange," she said, picking up her SRF armor and dressing, pulling on armor, boots and gloves over her body and attaching a compound bow to the small of her back. She even found a hair tie for herself and she tied her hair in a braid.

Packing several more items into the bottomless pit she called an item bag, she slung it over her shoulders. "Shall we?"

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
She decided to take the goggles, slipping them under her plantsuit, somehow, and closed her locker, standing in front of it. Why wasn't anything else there? That was annoying.

"Yeah. Yeah, the lights lead the way, right?"

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Einhart nodded. "That's what it seems like. It led us this far..."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds good. Well, let's head on out!" And Reimi pointed as she lead the group, a little more confident than anything else.

[identity profile] terra-who.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Terra followed. Normal life, goodbye. The universe didn't seem to let her maintain one.
