Shop 'Till You Drop! [SO VERY OPEN]

It was nice to be out on solid ground, to breathe fresh and salt-tinged air, and to feel the real warmth of the sun on her neck and shoulders, Nanoha thought. She felt a very deep urge welling up within her breast to just take flight, to soar through an actual sky in the first time in months - and she had no doubt that she would.

But there were other things she had to take care of first. Like, for instance, swimsuit shopping with her best friend.

"Ooh, this store looks like it might have some cute ones!" Nanoha tugged on Fate's hand, pulling her towards one of the storefronts that lined this street of the bustling shopping district. Even if it didn't, there were still plenty of others to try, and plenty of cute outfits to convince Fate to try on.

Katara thought a moment. "Well, I really would like to get some clothes that isn;t the plantsuit. Maybe a dress, some skirts, a few blouses with socks, some boots..."

Then a great idea hit her. "Hey, is there a place we can dance later on tonight? I could go there, but with a new outfit!"

"You should pick out one good interchangable pair of shoes that will go with whatever outfit you pick out. Then maybe a cute pair of boots that allow you to show the heel into whatever zorker you meet up with on the ship."

Nura thinks for a moment. "Hmm...I think so. I'll have to check with Sofia since she seems to know all the best dancing events."

Zorker? She had no idae what tah meant at all, but she still got the gist of what Nura was saying: conserve what she bought with shoes, and choose boots taht would really get her noticed. Girly advice received.

Katara nodded. "Oh, you knwo Sofia too? I've met her a few times, she seems nice!"

Nura nods. "Yes. I met her during that crisis with the futzwit Nightmare King. She was...very sad. But I suppose she's very happy now that she has her friend back." She then frowns a little. "However, I'm not a fan of her ex-boyfriend." Would she ever, really? No. Impossible.

"By the way, did I catch your name? I'm not so sure."

"Oh, I think I met her then too," Katara said, now that she thought about it. "Whoever her friend is, I'm glad that she's with that person now. But who is this ex-boyfriend you;re talking about? Is it anyone that I know?"

Katara started. "Oh! I'm sorry! I'm so rude! My name is Katara, of the Southern Water Tribe!"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Nura laughs and waves her hand in a 'no no' fashion. "Oh, Sweetie, I don't want to unload Sofia's dirty laundry. But," she sighs with the shake of her head, ponytail waving. "...trust me, he is a complete zorker."

She likes the sound of Katara's name. "Katara, hmm? That's a beautiful name."

Re: Clothes Shopping

Katara would have to just take her word for it: and at least now she had an idea of what a "zorker" was. Certain creeps that she'd met in her world came to mind.

She smiled. "Thanks! I like yours too, its very nice. So where did youi want to go first?"

Since she was still in her one piece and wanted to put on something new.

Nura looks up and down the line of stores and boutiques.

"Hmm...I always shop where there are sales first. You never know with bargains. You can always find something zeta-cute for a good price."

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
"If you say so!" Katara said, following Nura into a nearby boutique. She beelined straight for the skirts, touching the fabric, examining the color and texture. She was sure that Nura would follow suit, and even have something already picked out.

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] crysteel-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Nura picks out a jean skirt that has zero ruffles, but would look good with any top that she picked out. She takes a bit of it into her hand and rubs her thumb over the fabric to feel the texture.

"The blue skirt with the ruffles to the left would look gorgeous on you. The color matches your eyes perfectly."

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow, this looks really pretty!" Katara exclaimed, wrapping her hands around the skirt. She had never really worn too many things that were this short but she HAD seen something like it on the ship once and awhile.

"Really nice! Now I just need a shirt to go with it." She started looking through the racks until she came across this blouse (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vintage13/4501832514/).

"What do you think?"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] crysteel-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Nura chews her bottom lip for a moment before making her decision. "I think the jean skirt would be better then, Sweetie. Also, a tank top, since the blouse is a little transparent."

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Ok, the jean skirt it is!" Katara said, grabbing it and placing it on her hips a moment. It looked like it would work.

"Will do! I'll have to reexamine the blouse's texture next time."

Tank top?

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
She laughs lightly. "Just as well, you should maybe look for something to wear beneath the blouse."

She nods her head at Katara's choice. "It'll look good with anything you wear. That is the advantage of wearing a jean skirt." She would have picked out a jean skirt as well but...well, she isn't much a fan of jeans.

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm going to, definitely," Katara said, then reddened a little. "Okay then can you tell me what a tank top is? I've never seen one before and knew what it was called."

Katara however liked denim. It was nice, and had an appearance of style to her. She grinned and decided to change into it, just to see how it looked.

"Be right back!" She said, and was in the dressing room a moment later.

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] crysteel-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Nura smiles as Katara makes a beeline for the dressing room. The young girl reminds Nura a lot of Imra, in that her teammate could be as Spartan as Spartan could be when duty called, but easily shift into girly-mode as soon as she was in the midst of some good R&R.

As she walks over to the dressing room, she spots a lovely blue, striped drop-waist top (http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5441&vid=1&pid=752976&scid=752976002) and thinks how lovely it would look on Katara. She picks it out...and then remembering that the top needs something to go with it...

She arrives at the dressing rooms with the top, something for Katara (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2902644/0~2376776~2378685~2378696~2384456?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=2384456&P=2), something for her (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3065473/0~2376776~2378685~2378696~2384456?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=2384456&P=2), and underwear

"Sweetie," she says, ignoring the looks of other dressing room goers. "Which room are you in?"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Katara had gotten into cubicle three, so when she heard Nura over the other women in the dressing room, she called out, "The third one on your left! Here!"

Though she would keep this to herself, she had hoped this might be something that she would do with her mother, or even her ship mother. It was sad, but really empowering at the same time. She finally felt like she could have some time like this before fighting and seriousness and training, training training.

She could use some R&R after all.

But the last thing she was expecting, she had to admit, was the something to wear under it. She took the bra solemnly, looking at it almost quizzically. This would definitely be different from how she usually wore her underclothes, but she supposed even that could use an update, right? She wriggled out of her bathing suit, drying herself thoroughly before putting on these new clothes.

And yes Nura, she is so eager to try on the clothes she isn't even bothered to be undressing in front of a complete stranger. Of course, they were both girls, right? She had even brought a bra to try herself!

Bra. BRA. What a weird sounding word.

Nura immediately shuts the curtain just a bit so that Katara is obscured from the looks of the other women in the dressing room. She shoots a particularly nosy one a look and then turns her attention back to Katara.

While nudity is something not so taboo in the 31st century as it is in the 21st century, Nura knows that it is uncouth to be nude (even briefly) in public in the 21st century. Katara, however, seems to not be aware of this at all. Thankfully, the curtain, and Nura's body, do good jobs of keeping Katara shielded from the criticizing eyes.

"How does it fit?"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
While Katara had an idea that nudity was not something everyone shared,s he also had been in her bathing suit for a good remainder of the day, and figured it would be better to make sure every piece of sand was off of her before she put on anything. So really, Katara was more of a creature of sensibility than modesty.

Of course, her training with the BG on how some social taboos weren't as necessary helped too. As for the bra, she's still putting it on, figuring out how they work. When she's finally settled it, she threw on the blouse and then the jeans skirt, checking herself in the mirror.

"Wow," she said, admiring a moment. "It fits well!"

Nura looks into the mirror as well and nods her head in satisfaction.

"Zeta-awesome. I don't know how you will be able to fend off the numerous boys who will want to date you." She then shuts the curtain to Katara's dressing room and enters the one adjacent to it. She gets in, unloads her clothing, and then shuts the curtain.

Re: Clothes Shopping

Katara would have objected to the idea of having a whole bunch of guys wanting to date her (not going to happen, there weren't too many guys her age on the ship anyway), but Nura had already went into her own dressing room. Katara sighed, then whirled around to get the effect of the jean skirt.

She couldn't help but smile a little at her reflection. The bra would take some getting used to of course, but all of the rest of it was so pretty!

"Let me know when you're ready Nura!" Katara called out.

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Nura carefully removes the plantsuit and drops it in the corner of the stall on the bench with a minor wrinkle of her nose. She tries on the bra first, and checks herself in the mirror. It was the only bra on the rack that had reminded her of the clothing she'd worn back home in the 31st century. It wasn't as soft as fabric she remembers, but it will have to do.

Then she holds up a pair of underwear to her to see if it would fit (another 21st century taboo is trying on underwear and than returning it or not buying it. Health being an issue) and then she shimmies into the skirt and checks herself in the mirror.

It needs something...

She opens the curtain a bit to look out in the hall of the dressing room, and finds herself staring at the rack of clothes that people had tried on and yet had not returned to their rightful racks in the store. Eyes quick, she scouts out a perfect white top and removes it from the rack...and then gets back into the dressing room and pulls it on over her head.

It is swoop-neck top with sleeves that go three inches from her elbows. A little cleavage is revealed, but not so much that it is appropriate.

"Alright, one minute, Katara," she says, deciding to just wear the underwear for the sake of modesty (she's going to buy it anyways). She knocks on the wall that separates her stall from Katara's, and then pushes back the curtain of her stall and steps out with a flourish of a twirl.

"Ready!"

While Nura had been doing that, Katara had been checking through some of the clothing on the rack herself, particularly a

While Nura had been doing that, Katara had been checking through some of the clothing on the rack herself, particularly a <a href="http://www.rave180.com/uploaded_images/Max-Rave-792082.jpg> nice looking skirt that she found an equally pretty white blouse. As she tried it on, she heard Nura say she was ready, so she topped off the outfit by neatly putting her hair in a ponytail.

When she came out of her dressing room, her eyes almost fall out of her head. She had to admit, once she put aside the usual reaction to clothes that were a little more revealing than what she was used to, Nura looked GREAT. She had expected the girl to look good of course, but the woman really had a flair for knowing just what to wear.

"I'm going to have to shop like you do!" Katara said, turning around to show off the skirt. "You look really good! I like the shirt!"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] crysteel-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The compliment puts a little more air into Nura's bubble of ego. She's used to being complimented on her appearances. Siren of Naltor. Beauty of the Legion. Dream Girl. But it had also given her a bit of a hedonistic edge that had gotten her into a few spills in the past.

"Thanks! That skirt is zeta-cute, by the way. But maybe you should button-up the blouse a bit?" She doesn't want Katara to walk-out with her bra showing.

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, right!" Katara said, stammering a little. She didn't want to look like a floozy or anything! She buttoned up the blouse quickly, again admiring the skirt and the colors that complimented the rest of the outfit. While she had no idea of how massive Nura's ego was, she could certainly see why Nura had ego in the first place. She was pretty striking.

"Now, what about those shoes?"
