Shop 'Till You Drop! [SO VERY OPEN]

It was nice to be out on solid ground, to breathe fresh and salt-tinged air, and to feel the real warmth of the sun on her neck and shoulders, Nanoha thought. She felt a very deep urge welling up within her breast to just take flight, to soar through an actual sky in the first time in months - and she had no doubt that she would.

But there were other things she had to take care of first. Like, for instance, swimsuit shopping with her best friend.

"Ooh, this store looks like it might have some cute ones!" Nanoha tugged on Fate's hand, pulling her towards one of the storefronts that lined this street of the bustling shopping district. Even if it didn't, there were still plenty of others to try, and plenty of cute outfits to convince Fate to try on.

While Nura had been doing that, Katara had been checking through some of the clothing on the rack herself, particularly a <a href="http://www.rave180.com/uploaded_images/Max-Rave-792082.jpg> nice looking skirt</a> that she found an equally pretty <a href="https://www.jeenybeans.com//product_images/300100360.1.jpg"> white blouse</a>. As she tried it on, she heard Nura say she was ready, so she topped off the outfit by neatly putting her hair in a ponytail.

When she came out of her dressing room, her eyes almost fall out of her head. She had to admit, once she put aside the usual reaction to clothes that were a little more revealing than what she was used to, Nura looked GREAT. She had expected the girl to look good of course, but the woman really had a flair for knowing just what to wear.

"I'm going to have to shop like you do!" Katara said, turning around to show off the skirt. "You look really good! I like the shirt!"

The compliment puts a little more air into Nura's bubble of ego. She's used to being complimented on her appearances. Siren of Naltor. Beauty of the Legion. Dream Girl. But it had also given her a bit of a hedonistic edge that had gotten her into a few spills in the past.

"Thanks! That skirt is zeta-cute, by the way. But maybe you should button-up the blouse a bit?" She doesn't want Katara to walk-out with her bra showing.

"Oh, right!" Katara said, stammering a little. She didn't want to look like a floozy or anything! She buttoned up the blouse quickly, again admiring the skirt and the colors that complimented the rest of the outfit. While she had no idea of how massive Nura's ego was, she could certainly see why Nura had ego in the first place. She was pretty striking.

"Now, what about those shoes?"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Shoes. Shoes. Shoes... oh!" she laughs. "I can't believe I forgot about shoes. And my closet back home was full of shoes."

She looks out the hallway of the dressing room, back into the store. "Flip-flops. A good pair of flip-flops is essential. You can get them dirty, scuff them, and they will always look good."

She reaches her arm behind her and tugs down the tye holding her hair in the ponytail, and then pulls it off, her wavy, white hair falling past her shoulders andd waving a little in the air-conditioned dressing room hallway.

"I suggest black, since it will go with anything and everything."

A closet full of shoes? Katara couldn't even imagine the need of having so many unless you had a lot of money and social gatherings to get to, but it wasn't like she knew everyone's circumstances back home. She took a pair of blue flip-flops in her hands.

"Looks like sandals," she muttered, then shrugged and put them with the pile of clothing she was going to buy. They would be pretty easy to walk around in, and she was sure she'd be doing a lot of that.

She didn't miss the hair falling down to Nura's shoulder, and knew that they;d be getting eyes staring at them once they left this place. Nura probably had that effect on people.

"Black shoes, right!" she said, and went for a pair of nice black shoes. (http://images.halloweencostumes.com/shoes_flapper_black.jpg)

"What do you think?"

Nura grabs a pair of black flip-flops and puts them next to her plantsuit. There had been temptation to grab a white pair as well, but she needed to make sure that she had enough money left for a few more tops, comfortable pants, another bra, and more underwear (one pair was not going to cut it).

She takes the shoes into her hands and feels the texture. "Perfect for parties, events, and when you just want to look your stunning self."

The shoe-lover in her is eager to grab a pair herself, but she resists the urge by telling herself her money needs to be distributed properly (but if the next store they go to exclusively sells shoe, it will be torture).

Katara had followed the same advice: in fact, she already had a pad and paper out, taking down information if what she could buy, what would be leftover after this, and what she could do next. When she started to add everything together in her head, she nodded to herself.

She was sure she could make the money last the next few days.

Katara grinned. "In that case, now that we have the shoes, we should look for the boots, right? How are these?" (http://1.media.tumblr.com/hek4nsewhm3otav8x0BDGrHpo1_500.jpg)

"They're zeta-awesome! But I think perhaps we should purchase our clothes and see another store. You may just find an even nicer pair of boots in a different store, for a better price. And if not, we can always come back here to get them."

Is it her, or does she really sound like someone's mother?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good plan!" Katara was always more used to going to marketplaces, so clothing stores like these were going to surprise her. Then there was another question that she was curious about.

"Um, so these nightclubs: what kind of music do they play, and what do you wear? I mean, I get the dresses and the skirts, but if you were going to one of these kinds of places, what's the dress code?"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Nura gets back into the dressing room stall and changes quickly back into her plantsuit, and then emerges with her things in her arms. "For one thing, not arriving nacked is one of them." There's a bit of flippancy in her tone.

"But besides that, nightclubs are usually nothing formal. Just wear good dress, zeta-awesome shoes, and have your hair and make-up done perfectly so that you are a masterpiece upon the dance floor."

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nacked?" Ok, there were definitely no other words before or after that would have given her an indication as to what that word meant. She had picked up on a few verbal clues from Nura: Zeta was good, zorker was bad, so she was getting an idea of what words meant what.

"I can do that," Katara said. "Heck, me and a friend of mine went undercover as nobles in a really fancy ball in my world, I'm sure that going to a club won't be too hard, right?"

[identity profile] crysteel-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-14 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Intoxicated, Sweetie," she says. "Drunk. Woozy. Unbalanced. Off the rocker."

Nura laughs briefly. "A regular Chameleon, huh? I don't a nightclub outing will require you to disguise yourself to get in and get out, though."

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh that," Katara said, wrinkling her nose. "I've done that before. It won't ever happen unless I'm with people, and even then, why be that way before? Then you can't even enjoy yourself, right?"

Katara shook her head. "No, I get that! I just want to have a chance to dress and act a little differently. When else am I going to get to do something like this?"

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Nura grins then like a Cheshire cat and links her arms with Katara's. "Young woman after my own heart. I think you and I will get along just fine."

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Katara laughed. "Hey, I should be the one singing your praises! Without you I might still be blindly searching for something to wear tonight. Hey, if I see you at one of those Nightclub places tonight, would you mind terribly dancing with me? If you're not too busy, that is."

"I would love to," she says, reaching up and pushing back a lock of white hair with a genuine smile. "You and I can tear up the dance floor and show these land-dwellers how the crew of Stacy...really dances."

There's a nudgenudgenudge followed by a wink!

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I look forward to seeing you there then!" Katara said, grinning. "Although that's going to call for another new outfit, but for that, I'm going to have to surprise you. Hope you can keep up!"

She said this last part in good humor though. Nura seemed like the type that could do just about anything. She had this sort of exoticism about her that reminded her a little of June from her world, that bounty hunter.

Nura takes her Ray Bans from her pile and slips them on, pushing them up the bridge of her nose and then letting them slide back down and into place. Cool and breezy. You'd never guess that she's prone to paroxysm.

"Oh~, Sweetie, I have to warn you that I leave a lot of people out of breath," she starts walking towards the check-out counters.

Re: Clothes Shopping

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-06-15 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara laughed a little at the ray bans, if only because she was still getting used to seeing them on people's faces. Sokka was the first person she knew to wear those things, and though it wasn't part of his usual water tribe outfit, it suited him.

"In that case, maybe you CAN keep up with me," Katara teased. "I look forward to seeing you on the dance floor."
