In the Dog House
Grif is in the brig.
He's not a happy guy right now, but then again he's in the brig. The cot isn't comfortable but he's lying out on it on principle, boots up on the wall because the space is a tad narrow for him. Grif still has his armor, but he's been disarmed and his omnicomm has been confiscated. His comm ring is on one of the fingers on his right hand (he finds it creepy how it adjusted over his gauntlet) and honestly he feels pretty lucky. Nobody tried to superglue it to his forehead.
So for now, Grif is about as bored as he is physically capable of being and in fairly grumpy spirits as he lies on his back, hands folded on his chest, and tries to decide what the ceiling is made out of.

He didn't really think he would get out of explaining all of this to her, did he? She's here now. She's also giving him the look. He can pretend he doesn't see it all he want, but she will get his story eventually.

Maybe if he ignores it, it will go away.

"The sooner you talk the sooner I leave you alone."

"What?"

"Yo. Heard ya'got stuck here."

"Grif. What the heck were you thinking? As one of the ship medics it's my job to keep you from dying and that was something Caboose would have done."
no subject
"I was thinking that there was a Nightmare King loose and I was the only person with brains enough to be trying to kill it."
no subject
"If you actually paid attention for once, and checked your omnicomm you'd know that the Aang person wasn't the Nightmare King. Even I paid enough attention to that."
no subject
Most of Grif's efforts lie in the area of avoiding Tex, Samus, and the Major. Besides that, he's discovered he can mostly get away with ignoring everything.

"You can't just pretend you didn't shoot an innocent person, Grif."

It had been hard at first, the idea of even thinking about forgiving someone who almost killed Aang. She would never have forgiven Azula. To finally have him free and then to see Aang shot effectively destroyed any of the stupid things the Nightmare King had made her see. Her gut reaction had been to wait until everyone was gone and then let Grif have it, verbally. How DARE he almost kill Aang, why HADN'T he listened to the comms, by every right she hoped he rotted in the brig awhile, at least she hadn't (and wouldn't have, really) murdered that Yeerk, but Grif had come close to killing Aang.
But only close. Aang was alive and on the ship and with her.
So all that anger, all of those angry words? They died. Katara couldn't even feel hate right now, every part of her was overjoyed Aang was still here. When THOSE feelings dominated, she began to feel sorry for Grif: she was all too familiar with the brig, and in a way, he'd been trying to hep her. It was something Xander himself might have done, or maybe even Bella. Once she thought that, she couldn't hate Grif.
When she walked into the security brig, she was quiet but quick. She examined hi surroundings, seeing how bored and lonely he must have felt. She remembered that.
"Hey," she said. "Mind if I join you awhile?"

This is a better greeting than he expected to get from her, considering he just recently almost killed her boyfriend.
"...Depends on why you want to," he replies. Wary, a little surprised, but not outright defensive.
no subject
Yes Grif, you are very lucky Aang isn't dead. She's so happy he's alive, nothing could kill her mood. Nothing.
"But I've heard a lot about you, actually. The infamous Grif and all."
no subject
He sits up on the edge of the cot. "I'm 'infamous', huh?"
no subject
To understate it, of course.
"Kinda," Katara said. "You're usually called one of the laziest people on the ship. Also, you;re supposed to be stupid or something."

Tex's hologram flares to life as she jumps to his armor, and shakes her head as she reorients herself. "That was a lot easier than I thought it'd be." Of course, there also wasn't the issue of needing to be slingshot into a normally AI-free zone, either. She peers over at Grif from his shoulder. "So you're still in one piece."
no subject
Grif jumps, succeeding in flailing off the cot and onto the floor of the cell. He scrambles and manages to get back to his feet. He glares at the spot where Tex was when he was lying there, then turns his head as he remembers she's probably still hovering by his shoulder.
"Don't do that!"

He's a little too agitated to comment on how weird it is that she could feel him falling off the cot.

"Hey Grif. Is there anything I can get you while you're stuck in there."
no subject
He squints at Chris. Well, behind the visor anyway.
"I've run into you before, haven't I?"
no subject
"Food, got it. At least we have real food now, not that slop."
no subject
Like Grif's the only one here who hates the slop.
"..Any reason you're helping me?"
Grif's not exactly from a universe where doing things from the goodness of your heart happens very much.
