Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

An eye roll, "Of course they do."

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Elfangor paused for a moment. < Then your world seems to operate are some different laws. >

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Was an apology necessary? Clearly she stepped out of line, her head bowed again, to stare at her feet, the back of her neck and ears flushing red.

"Sorry Sir, but, it's what I know. I never thought that there's be any difference."

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
< You do not have to apologize. I did not expect for the laws to be quite that different, > Elfangor said, sounding thoughtful. < But...you do understand that things exist beyond your world, in the sky, correct? >

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Well..." she shrugs, noncommittally, "The Realm of the Gods?"

Oh no. He could be a god. One she didn't know. ... but. Why would she be here? She wasn't a god... she wasn't even one who was chosen by them, and thank them for that. That was nothing but trouble in itself.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
< It may exist for you. I am still not quite sure how it exists in mine. > Elfangor said. Which meant that no, he was not a god.

< But that is a good thing to take this explanation. The Realm of the Gods is separate from your world, right? >

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
The first half the reply undeniably confused her, however, the second part was easy enough to answer. What child hadn't heard the stories from only a few generations past? It had been.. about two centuries to be vague?

"Of course, it's the human era, The two have been separated since before my grandfather's grandfather was born."

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
< The human era? >

< Well, think of it this way. The other universes are like your world and the Gods' Realm. They are close, but undeniably separated from each other. These were just always separated. >

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
"The period of time from when the immortals were sent to the realm of the gods" Of course.

"Except here? They're not?"

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
< Ah, I see. >

< Stacy is a ship with the ability to travel across them. Like you can travel across bodies of water to different lands, Stacy can cross the 'space' between the different universes. > It should be simple enough to understand, right?

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
There is a small smile, a very, very small one, "I've not been on a ship til this last summer, even then. It was a river boat. But..."

It might be as good of her understanding this as possible.

"But why?"

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, now that was the hard question. < What I am going to tell you...it will be very hard to take, > Elfangor warned, his own words containing hints of his own sorrow and paint. Just a hint. He was good at keeping up a strong front.

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
She stood a bit taller, tilting her chin as well, "I might look young, sir, but I'm no child." Just... seventeen. Barely, seventeen.

Women had children by then, some as old as five at this point, a child was four and five, and most did not live past fifty, in their greatest of ages.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
< Age does not matter for this sort of news, > Elfangor said. Another warning.

< Stacy is not a ship that is collecting specimens, kidnapping people, or even holding prisoners. She is a ship that rescues refugees. From universes that have been destroyed. > The words, even though they were in Beka's head, were soft. Somber. And very, very sad.

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Refugees?" She looked about her then, to the other people in the vast room, All of them? Refugees? That couldn't be.

"I doubt 'Stacy' would rescue just me from all of Corus." Never mind the actual country, or planet. The city itself was just fine. "There ought ot be others. The King, his Queen... Tunstall, Goodwin." At the very least her partners.

"You're mistaken."

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
< You do not know how much I wish it was a mistake. If it is a mistake, that means we are being lied to by those who have taken us and the multi-dimensional thing is something we know for a fact just amongst ourselves. > Elfangor said, his word sincere.

< But that does not mean you are the only one from Corus. While Stacy could not save everyone, she did always try to save those who made strong stories from their universes as well as anyone who was close to them so they at least had some support when this was revealed. If you do not believe yourself important enough to the universe, then at least you were important enough to someone who was. >

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The next question was simple, very, very simple.

"What does this mean to us?"

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
< It means that while our homes may be destroyed, then at least something remains, > Elfangor said. < Those of note, the best of their universe. That is, if the best scenario really is not possible. >

< We know who did it. At least if the information is correct. And the people who programmed Stacy believe that if we defeat these people, there is a chance to restore our universes. Even if that's not possible, the enemy still has to be beaten because they would just destroy more universes. >

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"My home, my 'universe', is it one of those who were destroyed? was yours?"

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
< Everyone who came out of those pods has had their universe destroyed and everyone here was pod popped just like you. > Elfangor answered. Yes, hers was destroyed. As was his. And everyone else's.

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Internally, her stomach dropped, but her face did not change.

So. All of home was gone... Pounce, and Dale and Goodwin and...

everyone.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Elfangor studied her for a few moments. < And I am sorry for your loss. And on this ship, the rank is only for there to be some order among the crew. I am nothing like a 'nobleman' or anything of the like. I am your equal, so you do not have to worry about 'pleasing' me. >

It was either she didn't want to do anything that might make her seem to be stepping out of line or she was repressing her emotions. She had been acting more like the first before then, however, so he took a guess.

[identity profile] fish-puppy.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Later she would process them, and handle them. Later, she would find pigeons to feed, and prayers to send. Now though, it wasn't time for that. It couldn't be.

"Thank you." She paused, looking up actually in in eyes, "What do we do now?"

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
< Right now, you try to process everything. Ask what questions you need to help you find your way around. And get your omnicom. If you see a young man with green skin and three circles on his forehead, he'll be able to give you one or direct you to one. It's a device used for communication. > Elfangor explained.
