Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

Spike, being at LEAST a good foot taller than Gavroche, easily held it out of his reach, quick, studying it and squinting his eyes. "Ruin it?" he offered in return, eyebrows raising. "It's kinda moldy. You weren't gonna eat this, were you? We that worse for wear around these parts?"

He was grinning goodnaturedly, not quite catching onto how upset it was making Gavroche - or not caring, he wasn't sure - and puffing at his cigarette. "What flavor?"

Gavroche snatched it back, using a handkerchief he stole from somewhere to wrap it back, tucking it in one of his pockets. "No sir, they feed us. This is mine."

He did not like, nor trust this new man, not even a little. "It's all I have of Patria."

"...especially since it's gone."

Yeah, he let you have that. Jerkface. He threaded his fingers together, behind his head, leaning back against them and peering down at Gavroche over the end of his nose. "I'd have proven my point with something else if you had anything better. I mean, I thought maybe a pen or something, but bread. That's not something you get often."

Patria? Spike didn't know what was going on, but the smile was gone a bit, eyebrow raised instead, at Gavroche's tone. "Huh. Never thought a piece of bread would mean something. Cool."

"I have my hat, my pistol, and my bread. Inspector Javert says everything else is gone." Even if he didn't trust the traitor. Not that much anyway. Why hadn't someone else from home shown up? Other people knew each other. And here was, stuck with Javert.

"It doesn't mean something" He instructed, using the best adult tone the eleven year old could muster, "It's just mine"

Spike wasn't entirely sure why he emphasized that word so much, Inspector. Maybe authority meant something to the kid. It sure as hell didn't to Spike. "Maybe it ain't on this ship, kid, but it's gotta exist somewhere," he commented, lightly, fingers tapping idly into his hair. "You have a pistol? Good shot?"

Ah. Yes. Of course. Convincing as THAT was. Spike's mouth slowly curved back into a bit of that smile, wry again. "'Course it doesn't. My bad. Didn't mean to offend."
