Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

"I'm Nazzadi," Luly says cheerfully, offering Tora a hand to shake. "We're close relatives."

"Hello Nazzadi! I'm Tora." She took the offered hand warmly and shook it with enthusiasm. "I am not technically human myself, my people are considered demigods." As if that was the most natural thing in the world.

"My name's Meluly," the woman says, but her smile shows that there was no offense taken at the mistake. She has a firm grip—not so much it's overbearing, though.

"A year ago I'd have thought that was just silly, but after all the stuff I've seen I think I have to take you at your word."

"OH! I am so sorry! I misunderstood." She blushed lightly but it did little to deter her cheerfulness. "Meluly, what a pretty name."

"I too have found many more things are possible than I once thought. I grew up in a cave. The world is a much bigger place than that."

"Thank you. Tora's a nice name too..." The laughter in her eyes hints at some private joke: she'd never admit why she's amused, but words that end with a in her language are by default masculine. It's one of those weird little things that's cheered her up on the ship, watching people go around with names that don't fit them.

"I was born on a starship," Meluly says with a little nod. Not at all the same, but— "It was a shock the first time I saw a planet's surface in person."

"Born on a starship? Oh that sounds exciting! I lived in a cave for many years because father was afraid the humans would take me away. I suppose they did, in a way. I fell in love with people. They are so busy and do so much. And even if some are bad there are those who stand up to them. It's really quite something."

So the woman was not quite human, but something close, who was born in space. Well that was really quite something.

Luly smiles. "I'm lucky my parents were pretty open about stuff. They encouraged me to meet Humans, actually. Some of my people didn't have that much foresight." The ones who keep to themselves, now, and are fast becoming near-irrelevant on the world stage.

"They're much better than some of the alternatives," she says brightly.
