Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

Wyn is knowledgeable! She's also maybe going to flail a little bit on the inside because oh my god it's Captain Tightpants Reynolds. "Hi! You're new, aren't you?" she says brightly, bouncing on her heels a bit.

The energetic arrival of someone else near him caused Mal to snap immediately to attention. He managed a polite smile and a nod, saying, "Yeah, I am. Just got here." Figuring it's the polite thing to do, he puts out his hand in case she wants to shake it. "I'm Captain Mal Reynolds."

"Nice to meet you, Captain! I'm Wyn." the blonde woman says cheerfully, taking the offered hand. For someone who looks rather tiny and delicate, she sure has quite a few scars and calluses on her hand. "D'you have any specific questions about Stacy, or is it just the generic 'oh Christ what the hell's going on here'?"

Well, at least she's to-the-point.

"Well, I've gotten the basic idea about things from a couple of people, so I think I'm doin' all right there," replied Mal, the woman's scarred hand not going unnoticed as he did so. "Seems fairly straightforward, what we're all doin' here." He kept his voice level as he continued talking. "Some insect things destroyed everything, so we're supposed to try and fight them, before they do more damage. That pretty much it?"

"Basically. Also we're saving the universe, which is kind of exciting." Wyn says, sounding rather cheerful about the whole idea. "And there are fictional people onboard because of the whole parallel universes thing-- also, I'd recommend not bringing the fact that you think they're fictional to their attention if you do see someone you recognize from the telly or something."

Mal was about to make some comment about saving the universe, but what Wyn had said after that threw him off, and made the words die in his mouth. He eyed her a bit sharply. "Fictional people?" Of course, he knew the word meant something invented, but... Invented people didn't make much sense to Mal. "Don't think I'm understandin' you. There's people here that're not real?"

"Sorry, my brain goes from Point A to Point D and skips the middle bits, and I probably should've started with the whole parallel universes thing, but, um, yes. There are people here who aren't real in your universe." Wyn says, wincing apologetically. She is trying not to break peoples' brains when explaining things.
