Sooo...Meet-y
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.
Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.
There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

"But long story short? We've all been pulled from different worlds, different realities even and brought here because our universes were all destroyed by some alien bug race. We're suppose to work together to try to right the crap they did... And so. Here we are. Aren't we lucky?" Yes, that last part was complete sarcasm.
no subject
He didn't comment on her sarcastic comment, being too busy clenching his fists.
no subject
She offered him a small smile. "Look, I know what you're feeling. You're pissed and probably wanna beat the crap out of something. I felt, feel the same way. So far I'm the only person from my version of Earth and it sucks."
She thought for a moment. "Well I think we're suppose to fight those bug aliens. I'm not exactly sure how fighting them is suppose to right things, but it is. At least that's what we've been told."
no subject
He looked at her, unsmiling. "I don't want to think about the world bein' destroyed, so if all there is to get my mind off things is fightin'... Well, that works for me." Then, looking sidelong at her, he posed another question, "How do we go about fightin' these things? There some sort of organization?"
no subject
Jo wasn't normally a talky person, she was more of an action one. And having to explain all of this was getting really hard.
"Uh, I'm guessing Stacy, that's the ship's name, will take us where we need to go." Translation, she had no idea. "And we do have some organization around here. We have a command crew."
She paused and pointed over to Captain Picard. "That's Captain Picard, he's, well the Captain and in charge of things. Leon's...around here somewhere, he's in charge of security. We have people in charge of Medical and Science and Engineering. So, yeah. I mean, I think we've got it together for the most part."
no subject
"I wasn't questionin' the effectiveness of things here, just wonderin' what steps were in place for takin' action against those bug things. Seems there's a good arrangement, then." Mal felt slightly abashed; he hadn't meant to blast his bad mood off on Jo. Last thing he needed was making enemies, especially since he didn't really know anyone on board the ship.
no subject
"Uh, well I think the command staff people are working on a plan. Though I'm not sure 'cause I'm not a part of the command staff."
Which was probably a good thing as her solution for most things would to be shooting them.
"But hopefully they'll figure things out and let the rest of us know. I'm pretty sure they'll come up with something though. They have a telepath, and a guy who flies who was a congressman or something. And of course Captain Picard and Captain Kirk."
no subject
"Plans are good, if they're solid and straightforward enough," Mal agreed. "But sometimes, gettin' a weapon and shootin' things works just as well," he added. "At least, that's worked for me."
"Sounds like there's a lot of brains on board this ship." Mal laughed slightly. "Shouldn't be long before some sort of plan's been made up, then."
no subject
"Oh yeah, I completely agree. Sometimes you need to shoot first and ask questions later." She smirks a little, and leans back looking him over for a moment. "You get to bring any of your weapons with you?" Yes, Jo is a big fan of guns and shiny weapons.
"Hopefully they do," Jo sighed. "But anyway. Want a few tips for living on this ship?"
no subject
"Not many people realize that sometimes that's what you have to do in a tight situation," Mal said, also smirking. But then the smirk disappeared, and he shook his head. "Arrived here without a one. That normal around here?"
"Oh, and whatever tips you have, they'd be appreciated."
no subject
Man, Jo felt for the guy. Seriously if she'd been put on this ship without her guns, she would have been pissed off.
"OK, tip one, don't eat the ship gloop unless you take it into the Sensoriums. At least there it tastes like real stuff." she says ticking off a finger. "Two, don't start any fights unless you're in the mood to be bitch slapped by Stacy - NOT fun." she ticked off another finger. "And uh, be careful what you think. There are telepaths on board."
no subject
He smiled a bit at her comment about the food. "Doesn't sound too appetizin', but that might just be me." Then, he nodded at her comment about not fighting, but didn't say anything until she mentioned telepaths. "Telepaths? Real, genuine telepaths?" He looked at her a little skeptically as he replied.
no subject
"Yeah.. Telepaths, you know the kind that can read your thoughts and stuff?" She smiled thinking of all the people on board who had some sort of power. She turned her head slightly and pointed at Juno. "He's one.... And she's one," Jo said pointing at Jean.
no subject
"Yeah, I know what telepaths are... I'm just surprised to hear they're on this ship. But then again, what with all the different people on board, maybe that's not so surprisin' after all." That being said, he turned to look at the two people Jo indicated. He didn't expect there to be a giant flashing sign pointing them out as telepaths, because that would've been ridiculous, but he still couldn't help but be surprised at how normal they appeared. "Suppose they don't intentionally go around listenin' in on people's thoughts, do they?"
no subject
"Oh, well. I don't know." Jo said truthfully as she looked back and forth between the two. "I don't like... Really talk to either of them? I don't see why they would though." She shrugged, like she kenw anything about telepaths and how they used their powers. Heck if she was a telepath though? She'd be afraid to be listening in to too many of the crew's thoughts.
no subject
"Yeah, I guess there wouldn't be any reason to. Just wonderin', 'cause I haven't met many telepaths before. Well, there was one, but I ain't too sure how strong her abilities were." Mal didn't say anything more about that, because he didn't want to be responsible in case unforeseen consequences arose from talking too much. He hadn't spoken about it to anyone, but part of him still suspected there was some Alliance involvement; whether that was irrational of him or not, he wasn't sure. Maybe he'd just spent too long running away from the long arm of the government.
As it was, unless Jo asked him directly, he wasn't about to volunteer more information on that subject.
no subject
"So you knew a telepath? She read your mind all the time or something and that's why you wanted to know if ours did too?"
no subject
"I knew one. Like I said, I ain't too sure how strong she was with that stuff, but on occasion she showed signs of bein' able to sense things. It wasn't exactly readin' minds, but sensin' things." Mal paused to think for a few seconds. "Well, no, it wasn't so much that, as it was that I don't like the idea of people knowing everything I'm thinkin'."
no subject
"Well hopefully our telepaths have a little bit of control." Jo's nose wrinkled because she too didn't like the idea of someone always knowing what she thought. She'd probably get in a lot of trouble if someone bothered to keep track of her every thought.
"Well just let me know when you want to go to the weapons and possession lockers, OK?"
no subject
"Guess there's no point in puttin' it off. I've got the time to go there now if you do."
no subject
"So you're probably going to see some... interesting stuff in the weapons and possessions locker. But be sure to only take what's yours because stuff in there might belong to someone who might pop soon, and well... Don't need to be getting in a fight over possessions, you know?"
no subject
That being said, he followed Jo out of the Obs deck, noting the surroundings and general layout as he did so.
no subject
She pointed out various areas on their way to their destination, but kept the chit chat to a minimum mainly because she didn't want to experiance another moment of open mouth - insert foot. Foot didn't taste all that good.
"So, here we are," Jo said as they approached the entry way to the weapons and possessions locker. "You might have to dig through stuff to find your things. Oh, and watch out. There's been reports of a fuzzy furball with sharp teeth on the loose in there."
no subject
He followed Jo's lead, remaining fairly silent until the two of them reached the locker. "A fuzzy furball, huh? Someone's pet that got loose?" He smirked at that idea as he walked in through the entry way.
Once properly inside the room, Mal headed towards one of the lockers, where he began digging through the various things inside. To his surprise, it didn't take long before he spotted a couple things that were familiar to him: a brown coat (http://www.filmjackets.com/FEATURES/IMAGES/Feature_Firefly-big.jpg) and a hand gun (http://www.fireflywiki.org/img/Mal23.jpg).
Of course, with the bizarre plantsuit that Mal was wearing, the coat wasn't much use to him, but he decided to keep it anyway. And no decision needed to be made about keeping the gun. He turned around to look at Jo. "Think I've got everythin' I need."

Just so you know, the mods decided Serenity's actually on Stacy after all.
