Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

"Well, I've gotten the basic idea about things from a couple of people, so I think I'm doin' all right there," replied Mal, the woman's scarred hand not going unnoticed as he did so. "Seems fairly straightforward, what we're all doin' here." He kept his voice level as he continued talking. "Some insect things destroyed everything, so we're supposed to try and fight them, before they do more damage. That pretty much it?"

Robo stood at the edge of the room looking at the newcomers. He seemed vaguely irritated by something. It certainly wasn't the fact that these people got a nice calm welcome instead of OMGZOMBIESINYOURFACEFIGHTFORYOURLIFE!

Nothing to do with that at all. Everyone knows robots can't feel jealousy, right?

Tora blinked, the woman's greeting, strange words but it did not sound threatening or intimidating. "Oh hello."

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Her own fingers caught his elbow so he did not wind up sprawled in an undignified heap with her atop him. Such would not be a good way to start off one's stay, surely. Arha peered at him and her smile broke freely.

"There is no damage. You see? I remain whole," she murmured, her words just loud enough to cut through the noise. "It shall take a greater force than being bumped to harm me." She squeezed his elbow gently, the warmth of her fingers tingling slightly with a gentle nudge of mental reassurance and comfort.

And, suddenly, she switches to flawless Spanish. "I believe I might be. Do you have some form of the Justice League or the Justice Society on your Earth?" If they have more than a few things in common, it would... She doesn't know. Be neat?

Eventually those bright eyes met Lex's own dark but curious gaze. If she was going to watch him, he'd watch her for a bit in return, after all.

"Hi," Meluly says with a smile—her well-kept teeth stand out bright against her dark lips. "I hope you're finding it... bearable... so far." There's a little caution in her face, though the inhumanly charcoal-grey-black skin hides some of it. Who's to be sure how any of these new people will react?

"I think it'll probably be a relief to come clean, myself."

That was actually fairly new to Nanoha - as a general rule of thumb, most people she was familiar with only had one type of magic. But hey, people from different worlds meant different types of magic. She was learning that fairly well.

His other statement on the other hand, was something she could answer, as her fingers went to the jewel around her neck - Raising Heart began to hover over her palm, emanating the same magenta magic. "It's probably reacting to Raising Heart, my device."

[identity profile] indigoblueberry.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
She nods again. "I agree. The sooner we do that everyone can go home, and the quicker we can stop the loss of life."

Assuming, of course, that they can win.

[identity profile] am-alwaysfree.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"No, it ain't just you. If there's people who need savin', if we can do somethin' that'll keep other worlds from gettin' destroyed, then of course we should take that chance." Mal sounded vaguely apologetic, wishing he hadn't voiced his skeptical opinion at all, but at least Nanoha wasn't chastising him for it.

"Guess I've been in too many wars where things didn't go as planned. It's made me a little hard," said Mal, as his way of apologizing.

: At least a few months, probably more, : she replied grimly, ignoring the disparity without pause. That date put Saito before she'd reestablished contact with Section 9, no wonder he was so incredulous.

Wordlessly she offered him the download (http://community.livejournal.com/trans_9/160501.html?thread=12524277#t12524277) of a version of her memories of the recent revelation.

: It's either a better hack than Batou and I can detect, or all of this is real, : And that her opinion was ever shifting towards the later was apparent, : We've been operating under the authority of the ship's chief of security. Consider him Togusa's replacement, for now. :

Only fair, of course. Mara doesn't bother to look away, but there's a bit of a smirk to her expression now. She's curious what he'll do. We'll he keep wandering through the crowd of new arrivals, or will he follow up on his curiosity?

[identity profile] dyu-uv-rikku.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Rikku looked to the elderly man speaking to her, giving her head a shake. "Not right now," she admitted, "But I will be, eventually." She gives a small smile and a nod, flexing the fingers around her dagger handles.

[identity profile] standaloneshell.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
This is not the gaze of a woman who is attracted to you, Lex. This is the look of someone who finds you ridiculous. Motoko is just not drunk enough for this.

Well, that was a pleasant surprise. Of course Luis littered his every conversation with bits and pieces of his mother tongue (a habit probably originally started as an attempt to be sexy) but he hadn't actually spoken it in a long time.

He answered her in Spanish. "Justice League? Never heard of it..." except in comic books or something. He'd learned not to dismiss anything like that on this particular ship, though. "Of course, I'm a scientist so I don't get out very much. Where are you from, anyway?"

[identity profile] lackofdarkwings.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah I think so." Matt grinned. "And it would feel so much better talking about it openly. And I'm not just a magic user, but a powerful fighter in my right. Fastest in the Kandrakar Guard."

Quintessence came in two forms; soft healing pink and electrical blue. Mostly because of the nature of Life Magic.

"Huh, must be," said Matt, holding the empty Heart of Kandrakar close and it crackled with electricity within the confines as he brought it back and it calmed to pink. "That is pretty neat actually. Is it designed to cast magic through?"

‘Human’, ah? Aeneas cocked his head. “Well, at least that answers one question…”

Unfortunately there were entirely too many that remained to be addressed. Lucky for this female (or at least he assumed she was female, going on the standard bias that she was shorter than the other humans, and also relying on his own judgment of hormones), most of the more pressing ones did not directly concern her. Maybe she would stumble on them one day.
Maybe she would encounter one sooner.

“I…” Aeneas blinked again, his eyes resolving so that they pointed, heavily crossed, towards the ceiling—a look of intense confusion. “…I’m not sure, actually.”

He shook his head, webbed ears flopping limply.

“—It’s a long story, but it is of no concern. I go by Aeneas.”
”And that is all she needs to be worried about for now,” he thought with a low sigh.

“Your kind—‘mutant humans’?” Aeneas continued, regarding her with a creased brow that mimicked her smile, “They go by names, yes? What is yours?”

The minute Hancock made it to the...freakishly fleshy observation deck, all the while wondering if this place had anything alcoholic to drink, he noticed he wasn't the only person wearing the skin-tight bodysuit.

This, naturally, made him stop in his tracks and take a closer look around.

"God damn," he said out loud. "I walked right into the Rainbow Nation."

...He did not mean post-apartheid South Africa. He meant that everyone looked like a homo.

The thoughts racing through Fate's mind right now are things that Nanoha has been worrying about ever since she learned the news. "I wasn't sure I believed her, but... if you're here then it has to be true. Everyone has to be down there asleep, and we... we just have to wait."

[identity profile] am-alwaysfree.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Sorry for bein' so direct," Mal began, as a follow-up to his rather sudden introduction. "Just couldn't think of a better way of sayin' it. Hope you don't mind; someone told me you were, and I guess I'm just too curious about things."

[identity profile] anoldtrickster.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Mr. Wednesday's gaze slides down (and across Rikku just barely quickly enough to not assume less-than-pure intent) and settles on the daggers she's carrying.

"That's an interesting amount of ornamentation for such simple weapons," he comments. "It seems more awkward than just using a basket hilt would be."

[identity profile] madeofwyn.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Basically. Also we're saving the universe, which is kind of exciting." Wyn says, sounding rather cheerful about the whole idea. "And there are fictional people onboard because of the whole parallel universes thing-- also, I'd recommend not bringing the fact that you think they're fictional to their attention if you do see someone you recognize from the telly or something."

[identity profile] am-alwaysfree.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, if you're sure about that." She didn't seem to mind, so Mal didn't force the issue anymore.

"Yeah, I guess there wouldn't be any reason to. Just wonderin', 'cause I haven't met many telepaths before. Well, there was one, but I ain't too sure how strong her abilities were." Mal didn't say anything more about that, because he didn't want to be responsible in case unforeseen consequences arose from talking too much. He hadn't spoken about it to anyone, but part of him still suspected there was some Alliance involvement; whether that was irrational of him or not, he wasn't sure. Maybe he'd just spent too long running away from the long arm of the government.

As it was, unless Jo asked him directly, he wasn't about to volunteer more information on that subject.

"I don't 'think' it's any year," Terry snapped, "I know that the year I was grabbed from was Twenty fifty-three. Not like it matters here, anyways."

Really, though, 2009. That was a long time ago, by Terry's standpoint. A long time before he was born. But Bruce was around in his time.

"And I'm not supposedly Batman, I am Batman," he growled.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey man." Static said as he floated over. "You look like crap."

Which was very much the truth, by the way.
