Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Guns? Guns are for suckers.

Roxie's claimed a little bit of free space, and has started emptying her pockets.

...and emptying her pockets, and emptying her pockets... Damn, that's a lot of stuff.

Odd things like little marbles, baseballs, lengths of chain, assorted jewelry, what looks like at least one sheathed sword, and all kinds of random other things.

"... I have some things I could share," she offers.

[If your character might be interested in something from Roxie's grab bag, post here! She will offer something she thinks will fit your character.]

Gauron's already seen that there's a lot more to Roxie's toys than meets the eye - like the flashbangs disguised as marbles. Or the teeth - alas, poor Kon.

He crouches next to her to take stock of the items as she lays them out. "Don't suppose you'd happen to have any motion detectors in there?"

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Roxie thinks about it for a moment.

"There's this," she says, sorting through the masses of stuff to retrieve a delicate silver chain. "Stretch it taut and it amplifies any noise it hears. If you can stay quiet enough yourself..."

[identity profile] venominsilicon.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Gauron examines the chain. "Basically, I'm looking for something to use to widen and fill any gaps in our security perimeter around the Basilica. It's got a lot of avenues of approach, so any advance warning we can get will help."

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't—"

Blink.

"I might have something, but I'd need time to prepare it."

[identity profile] venominsilicon.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah?" Then again, given that it's Roxie, Gauron's not entirely sure he wants full details. "What does it respond to, how reliable is it, and how long will you need?"

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Anything unfamiliar—I should be able to get them to attune to everyone who will be there, we've got enough lead time... Reliable enough. Maybe a couple of hours to put everything together."

Sherry walked over slowly, careful to keep out of the bigger adults' way (the last thing she wants is to be knocked over in their hurry for weaponry). She half-smiled at Roxie and itched the bridge of her nose again.

"You look well-prepared," she said.

Yuri followed close by, rollerblades clicking on the ground. She looked at the stuff piled on the ground and at Roxie's jacket. She was never very good at math but she recognized a problem of scale when she saw it.

"Why can your jacket hold so much more than it should be able to?"

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"My jacket was made from the heartstrings of Shel-Boath, the dragon of Marus Vale," Roxie says matter-of-factly as she edges a few of the piles around to make more room. "His greed and his protectiveness are layered into the material, giving it a metaphysical presence as much as a physical one."

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sherry raised her eyebrows. Well, that answers those questions, now doesn't it. "I guess you'll be with the rest of us in the medbay?" She kept having to go back there, and it annoyed her.

[identity profile] lilyofthedrills.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
"The dragon of...What are you, a hobbit?" The other girls are used to Yuri telling Borg to be more polite by now so she just gives them her usual 'I am so sorry' expression.

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Killing Shel-Boath was one of my earlier trials," Roxie says, looking over at Borg. "It would be easier for me today, but dragons are always very dangerous." She glances over at Sherry. "I'll be protecting you," she says. "But I'll be fighting if they need me."

Which she's decided without talking to anyone else, apparently. But, then again, there is Katara, and she's the same age...

It's probably a sign that Wyn's spent too much time on the internet when her first thought was 'ooh, she's got a hyperspace arsenal!' Because really, how else would you explain pockets that are bigger on the inside? "Such as?" she asks, picking up a marble and inspecting it thoughtfully.

Re: Guns? Guns are for suckers.

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't say any numbers while you're holding that," Roxie says quickly as Wyn picks up the marble, and keeps a sharp eye on her.

"...what are you thinking of?" she adds after a few long moments.

Re: Guns? Guns are for suckers.

[identity profile] madeofwyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"What does it do if I say numbers?"

"And I didn't have anything particular in mind." Wyn says with a shrug. "Oh! Here are your scissors, by the way." she continues, reaching into her shirt pocket and bringing out the pair of scissors with people issues.

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"It sets the detonation timer."

Roxie reaches to carefully take the proferred scissors. "You didn't have any serious problems?"

[identity profile] madeofwyn.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. Well then."

"No, they were fine. I mean, my fringe is a little jagged, but besides that there weren't any issues." Wyn says with a shrug. The fact that her bangs are crooked bothers her a little more than it should, though.

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
She slides the scissors away into their designated place in her jacket.

"Good. I was a little worried they might be too uncooperative."

Re: Guns? Guns are for suckers.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"What sorts of things would you have?" Arha asked quietly, sitting carefully next to the girl. "There is much that you have, I see, and much of which that is more than it seems. Perhaps it would be a thing you pick for me?"

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Roxie looks over at Arha. She thinks—

She retrieves a small burlap sack silently from the bottom of one of the piles, unwrapping it. Inside is a beautiful, stylized octopus all crafted out of layers of interlocking silver and bronze. Clearly it could support the weight piled on it, but it seems calm and delicate like a flower.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Her blue-within-blue eyes widened slightly and she put out a forefinger to touch it hesitantly. It had many arms--such a creature she had never seen. It was a pretty thing.

"I have never seen such a creature like this," Arha said thoughtfully. "What is it called, this thing of many arms?"

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
"It's an octopus," Roxie says. The metal is cool to the touch—cool, but warmer than it really should be, as though it had been held close to body heat for a long time. The plates that construct it, interlinked together and with little connecting bars as structural supports, all seem extraordinarily well-articulated—if she picks it up, the tentacles shift and hang almost naturally, the entire scaled structure shifting with the movement. "It's based on the shape of the common sea octopus (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Octopus_vulgaris2.jpg). They're hunter-scavengers who are very clever for their size."

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Oct-o-pooze," Arha murmured, her eyebrows arched as she carefully lifted the thing to inspect it. "It is a water creature, yes? Mm. My planet has no open water for creatures such as this. This is a thing well made."

[identity profile] toariversodeep.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Actually, they can survive for a little while out of water. Some octopuses actually come on land when the tides go out to eat the sea creatures that are stranded."

In Arha's hands, the little sculpture-thing moves fluidly, almost enough for it to slip right out of her hands if she doesn't keep a firm grip.

"I did some of it," Roxie admits. "It was halfway broken when I found it. Mostly it was just reassembly, but I had to replace some of the plates."

If Arha looks close, she can probably see the difference there, towards the middle—a few of the segments are fresher and less weathered than the rest, though they've been exactingly made to match the same measurements and materials.
