A House Divided [Part 3]
[Instructions: Here.]
Despite a few tricks up their sleeves, the Conspirators hardly stood a chance. It's all or nothing as they make a few last ditch attempts to kill the Yeerk, and as the fight grinds to a screeching halt.
Will they kill the Yeerk?
Will someone other than the Yeerk get killed in the crossfire?

Re: The Shame
"It is a Wyrmthing," Bella replies, bracing against the removal again. "It is no fault of mine he stood between me and the enemy."
And it's... gone. And healed. Bella's shoulder is sore and painful, but... it's not blinding. She sits up, shifting a little to investigate.
"I thank you," she says, looking at Katara finally and hiding her frustration. It's not the young human's fault.
Re: The Shame
Katara's face darkened, thinking of a certain malicious someone. "Always."
Katara nodded. "You're welcome. One thing...I know you may not want to, but please stop and see how Obi Wan is doing. He's actually a nice person. I met his protege."
Re: The Shame
She doesn't have much life experience, this one. Bella's only two, she hasn't seen true evil yet. Fomori, pretty much Wyrm zombies, are far from the worst.
Bella sighs. "I will ask for forgiveness, if it will maintain peace in the sept." It's not good for her dignity, but she doesn't want the group to fall apart any more over this.
Re: The Shame
She hated saying it, but its true. Just because she's met nice people doesn't mean that they were all that way.
"It will...but from what I've seen of his pupil, he's also very wise. I'm sure he won't hold this against you. This situation is...difficult."
Re: The Shame
Bella doesn't really know about the Yeerk "speaking" to people. It just seems like a creature of the Wyrm to her, and the very presence of one is bad enough. The taint, she's been taught, spreads off them like radiation and poisons everything around it. It's not exactly something she wants to have alive and around. "It is corruption, yes."
She sighs and hangs her head a little.
"I will not fight more. It is ended," she says. "We had a fight. The Obi Wan man and the one with the gun took the other side. We fought. I lost."
She flattens her ears, avoiding looking at Katara in her discomfort. "I am weaker. I obey." They made her run away like a dog, so Bella feels she no longer has a right to argue. It's how wolves function. They beat her, so her challenge is done. She hates this feeling.
Re: The Shame
Katara gazed at the wolf. "I saw you fighting them though. You were amazing! I've never seen anything like it. But some weapons are hard to beat anyway, especially when you don't know enough about them. You'll get stronger...and so will I."
Re: The Shame
"You cannot hit a ghost. They don't have... (she flicks an ear trying to think of a word) it's not shape but is like it," she points out. Bella's figured out she can't put her claws through a spirit, anyway. Most of the time. It's kind of out of nowhere, her grasping for things to contribute. "We may have been wounded but the fighting is over now. We will remember to watch in case anything else happens."
At the mention of her fighting prowess, Bella visibly brightens. She straightens her posture, regaining some pride. "I am Ahroun. It is my duty. When the Apocalypse comes I will fight the Wyrm for The Mother."
There's a fire in her eyes; a feral, joyous light. "And if anything stands between us and our return I will fell it as any foe."
Re: The Shame
Oh, she would watch, that was for sure. If that thing tried to do anything to her friends, all bets were off. She'd kill it in an instant. Being an idealist meant nothing if you were mind warped and unable to move on your own.
Katara gave the wolf a short bow. "I am Katara, the last waterbender of the Southern Water tribe. I have fought long and hard to rid the world of menaces that sought to destroy it, and avenge the imprisonment and death of my people. It is also a personal credo, but I will never turn on my back on those that need me."
She gave the wolf a smile. "It is an honor meeting you, Ahroun, wolf warrior. Is Ahroun your name or your race?"
Re: The Shame
"This one is Bella, Lupus Ahroun of the Get of Fenris." This girl is a warrior, then? She rises somewhat in Bella's estimate immediately. Bella's used to the Garou way of judging strength, though. Age and scars.
"I am Garou. Auspice comes of the moon. I was born beneath the full light of Luna's face, so Ahroun is my Auspice. It makes me a warrior."
Werewolves revere the moon. Aunt Luna's gifts to them, though with the heavy price of their silver weakness, have been a great boon in their war against the Wyrm.
Re: The Shame
Katara was curious. "Waht do you mean by Auspice?"
Re: The Shame
"Auspice. It is... my job." She pauses, considering how to explain. "I am Ahroun, I am a warrior. The moon was full when I was born. There are others here. Wags-Tail-A-Lot is a Ragabash, no moon shown over his birth. He is a trickster. Plays-In-Traffic is Philodox, Luna showed half her face when he was born. He is a judge among Garou. One-Leaf-Ear is Ahroun, like me."
"I wish we had a Theurge here. A crescent moon. They speak to the spirits, one might be able to tell us what is happening."
Re: The Shame
"I wished someone from my world was here too. He often walked the path of the real world and the spirit world. A few days ago, I discovered he's here, somewhere away from everyone on the ship. They need him for something, but I don't know what. He is very strong, but he would be here trying to protect everyone. It's...because of him, and everyone here, that I want make sure that Yeerk will never get to do what's it done to others before."
She smiled. "I look forward to seeing all of your clan after this. They all sound strong, and willing to function as a unit. Of course, that'll be after we're probably put in the brig for all of this. I regret I had to fight against these people."
Re: The Shame
"They are not my pack, but they are on my team," says Bella, though this doesn't seem to bother her terribly much. "My pack is not here. I'm glad, my sept needs them and they are probably very busy."
Re: The Shame
Katara nodded. "Well I'm glad you have them then! I know it isn't to be here when people from your world aren't, or are pulled from some other kind of space. They'll need you as much as you need them."
Re: The Shame
"I'm glad I'm not alone," she agrees to that assessment. It would be really miserable being the only Garou, even if she only gets along passably with the Homids. They're social creatures.
Re: The Shame
She smiled. "And you're not alone with your human brethren either. I know I don't seem like anyone important, but when I care about anyone, I am willing to do whatever it takes to protect them."
Re: The Shame
"That is as Garou," Bella says. "I would die in defense of my pack."
Re: The Shame
She smiled. "I am glad we understand each other then."
Re: The Shame
"We may not agree, but we have that," the wolf answers. "Do others need you now?"
Re: The Shame
"Yes, I'm sure they do. I'll have to go to the other injured." She paused. "Hope I see you again soon."
Re: The Shame
She's not expecting the degree of punishment that will come down on them, as she's perfectly willing to show throat and take the loss with grace. But this is oddly prophetic.
