Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

"I'm Nana," a horned, troubled girl declares as she comes to stand before Wednesday. "I don't really know how old I am..." A pause, she looks somewhere in the range of twelve to fourteen, though her voice seems somehow younger. She finishes, quite seriously: "But I feed Wanta!"

"And who would Wanta be?" Wednesday asks gently, looking the girl over—the horns in particular.

They're short, blunt things, almost resembling a pair of bony, unmoving cat ears in shape. "He's a little creature," Nana replies with a hint of a smile. "He's very nice. He keeps my friend company." Noticing the man's eye go to the horns, the troubled expression returns. "Do they bother you?"

"No, actually," the old man says with a smile. "It's curious, that's all... but we've got far stranger people around here than that, and it's all been handled without issues. You should find yourself in agreeable company."

"Really?" the girl asks, surprised and, it seems by the way her eyes light up, delighted by that prospect. "Where I came from, there weren't many people who were different like me and we were all kept at a--" A hand goes over her mouth mid-sentence before she tries to steer things backwards. "I'm so glad," she says when she recovers her smile. "I'm glad everyone can live peacefully here." Ignorance is bliss. "What's your name?"

"Mr. Wednesday," the old man says kindly. "Nice to meet you."
