Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Xander gave a sheepish grin and wave, which the eyepatch detracted from the full effect.

"Uh hey, how's it going? Me is Xander..." Dammit, got to get it together.

"I mean, I'm Xander Harris, part of the Welcome Aboard team on the creepy Aliens ship."

Luke nudged his way through the crowd of bodies until he stood before Xander, returning the grin and holding out his hand to shake. "Nice to meet you, Xander," he said. "Did you call me over?"

Xander froze for a second. He really had to stop acting like such a drooling fanboy and calm down. Be cool about this. And don't think of all the Jedi games you played with Jesse and Willow as kids.

Or the fact you secretly dug Han more because he was cool, had a ship, and got the girl.

He then shook Luke's hand, trying not to be too eager about it.

"Less calling over, more announcement of surprise. A manly bellow. Very manly."
Great, he's an adult, and he's yammering anyway.

"Honored to meet you." All right, that was better.

"Honored," Luke repeated, looking sheepish himself. "Well, thank you, Xander."

"Uh yeah, I guess you might have noticed... You're famous." He gave a shrug. But not going to mention the movies... the merchandise, the quotes, the books. All of it.

"Yeah, I've noticed." He grinned. "Anything you're supposed to tell me as the welcoming committee, not as a fan?"

Xander briefly clapped his hands together, and then gestured, "Right, right. Yeah, we got a Command Staff here, and some teams. There's a Medbay if you need patching up. Uh there's a cafeteria, hope you don't mind tasteless slop, because that's the only thing on the menu. Unless you go to the Sensoriums, which are this VR holodeck deal. Can call up anything you can think of."

"Teams?" Luke asked. "Teams for what? Missions?"

"Exactly. I didn't go on the first, but sure Stacy's already got future shindigs of doom in the works."

Xander added, "She drafted us all to help her out, but we're still getting intel on the why. Just got a little on the who."

"Well, at least there's something I'll be able to help out with," he said. "Thanks for filling me in on the basics, Xander. I'll probably have more questions later though--may I come to you?"

Xander nearly squeaked at that. Nearly. But he recovered just in time. Luke Skywalker... asking him for information and advice.

Ok pride. Definite pride and HOLYCRAP.

Right. Play it cool.

"Sure, you ever want a tour or anything let me know. Just watch yourself around the city. Our worse attacks happened on that level, and there's still some places to avoid."

"Thanks for the heads up." Luke grinned. "I think I'm going to get out of this room though and find somewhere quiet to sort everything I've learned out. It was nice meeting you."
