Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

"F*(&%#&' hilarious," he replies tersely. "I want to know what I can do to help us get into that hangar." And suddenly, he's all business - not surprising, given that what would, in his world, be his source of godlike invincibility and destructive capability is on the other side of that boundary.

"You'll want to talk to Jaime Reyes—he's the leader of the team working on getting access to more parts of the ship." Wednesday is unshaken by the sudden change in demeanor. "He's about so high," and gestures—short! "—and wears all blue. A bit scruffy-looking."

"All right." He makes a mental note to keep an eye out and talk to this Jamie as soon as the opportunity presents itself. "Anyway, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that if any of you had any real solid idea of what was going on here, you would've started with that."

Wednesday smiles in a dry, reedy way. "There's a race called the Ohm that we may have been brought here to fight, but we also don't know if that's just an overcomplicated smokescreen by whatever forces are holding the other sections of this ship."

"I see." He's been in situations where he's been forced to proceed with dubious and unreliable intel at best before, but never with the complication of something else %&$#ing with him from inside his own head - if he had the capacity to hate anything, he'd probably be despising Stacy pretty hard right about now, but instead, he finds himself perversely amused at the challenge. "Anyway, I'm not black ops, but I have a fair amount of training along those lines - and a lot of combat experience. I've trained and led troops before, and I like to think my tactical sensibilities are pretty decent. If I don't run into Reyes anytime soon, who would I talk to about finding something helpful to do in the meantime?"

"Leon Kennedy," Wednesday says with only a moment's thought. "He's our head of security—more keeping the peace than anything, right now, with how stir-crazy some people can get—or Master Chief. He's working with a few others to train our, ah, less than experienced to reduce the risk if we have any future incidents with unexpected enemies."

By the way he says their names, Gauron figures he assumes that Leon and Master Chief will be pretty easy to recognize - and he doesn't especially doubt it; that kind of responsibility tends to leave visible marks, even on sociopaths like Gauron. "Sorry - I never caught your name. Who should I tell them sent me?"

"Mr. Wednesday," the old man says pleasantly, offering Gauron a broad, firm, callused hand. "It's a day that's always been kind to me."

He's not going to ask about the handle - after all, Wednesday was polite enough not to ask about his. "Nice to meet you, then, Mr. Wednesday." He takes the old man's hand, clasping it firmly. "Mind if I ask how long you've been here?"

"Oh, a good few months, at least." Wednesday gestures loosely. "Things are a little strange here. Time doesn't really like to keep to smooth perceptions."
