Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Hot Topic's cool.. LP can do without...

"I'm from New York, and yeah I did just get here. Fell from the slime filled pods, and now I'm here." He frowned as he noticed that Steve was doing the whole "emo boy" thing. All he was missing was the eye liner and all black clothes. Billy was sure shocking him would snap him out of it.

"Well, I think Claire was the one who told everyone. She did end up getting out of there. With her brother. Chris..." Billy wasn't swooning over the name. Nope, not at all.

Claire made it. This relieved Steve more than he thought it would and he looked noticeably the happier for it. "Oh, good," he said with a heavy sigh. "I'm glad she made it. I wasn't sure because I di... don't remember what happened." He recovered quickly. Best not to be telling people what he wasn't sure even happened anymore. Maybe it had been just a dream.

"Not that this situation is any better than that," he said. Then he looked cocky all of a sudden, holding up one of his machine guns. "Not like I can't handle it or anything, though. Monsters, or aliens, or whatever. I'm ready for anything."

LOL

"You know some aliens are actually pretty good right? Not all of them are stomach busting, face eating, monsters." He kinda looked upset as he spoke, but his voice didn't give it away. Teddy was an alien after all, so was Karolina. They weren't monsters.

"Guns... blah." He really didn't like guns. They didn't make sense to him, but maybe that was just because he didn't like the mindless violence. Outside video games anyways.

WHEN I WAS - A YOUNG BOY

Steve hadn't meant to be offensive. He was still doubting the reality of the whole situation, after all. "You mean aliens are real?" he said incredulously. "I was just making it up because of being on a ship and all, but- I didn't know for sure. As long as they don't try to eat my face then they're fine, I guess."

He motioned to his guns. "You don't like guns? They're..." So cool. Totally badass. The coolest. "I wish I didn't have to use them, but these things saved my ass more than a few times on that stupid crazy island," he said. "I'd rather have them than be helpless, you know?"

[identity profile] madebymagic.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"As real as you or me. I bet there are a few around here. Though some of them just look like us. Like Superman. He's an alien you know, but he looks completely human." He smiled slightly and shook his head. "It's okay. Most people freak out over aliens. I know I'd freak out over seeing like a real monster, like z..." He stopped and bit his bottom lip. He so wasn't going to say the Z word infront of Steve. No way.

"I don't use guns, but I'm not helpless. Then again, I haven't seen the horrors you have. Maybe if I had, I'd use them."

"Zombies?" Steve filled in for him. "Yeah. You shoot out a few of those and you start feeling a lot better about guns, that's for sure. But I wouldn't really call them horrors... they weren't that bad."

Of course Steve wasn't trying to show off. "You just gotta know what you're dealing with."

[identity profile] madebymagic.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah... those." He shook his head. He'd watch horror movies, and he'd played his share of horror video games. But he'd never been able to sleep after sitting through a zombie game or movie. It was just something about them that freaked him out. Why he continued to play the games and such, was truly beyond him.

Steve felt oddly good about living through something that had obviously put off this other kid, who otherwise looked a lot more serene about this situation than he was. He had a strange, satisfied smile on his face.

"It's all about crowd control, really," he said, as though he were now an expert. "If you can keep them away from you, then they're not too hard to put down... The worst thing about zombies is their numbers." And their tendency to actually be your father. But he wasn't about to talk about that to Billy.

[identity profile] madebymagic.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Billy was glad that Steve seemed to be cheering up a bit, though he wasn't sure he liked this tone. He almost seemed like he was talking down to him, or was just over confident that he was better. Billy got enough of that from Tommy.

"You sound like an expert. But lets hope that we don't have to fight any zombies here."

It wasn't competition so much as Steve never got to be an expert in anything. And he didn't want to meet a new kid his age and immediately admit how useless he was at pretty much anything. "I hope not. I've had enough of them for a while," Steve sighed.

"In fact, I've had enough of the creepy movie sets to last me for the rest of my life," he added a moment later. "Though I guess it could always be worse, huh?"

[identity profile] madebymagic.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Billy nodded his head slightly and smiled. He was at least glad he'd been able to get Steve out of his corner.

"True, it could be a hundred times worse. Though at the moment I can't really think of how. But I'm sure it could."
craaazyisland: (Huh)

[personal profile] craaazyisland 2009-08-03 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"I could," Steve muttered, but he decided not to elaborate on it. Billy was bothering to talk to him, no need to creep him out so badly he ended up leaving.

He stood up, stretching and looking around the room for any other sign of familiar faces. He absolutely wasn't hoping his parents would be here. No way. A cursory glance showed nobody he knew, so he turned back to Billy.

"So uh. Do you mind if I. Stick with you for now?" he said awkwardly. "Not like I can't go by myself, but-- we might need to watch out for stuff on this creepy ass ship, right?"

[identity profile] madebymagic.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't mind at all." Billy smiled a bit brightly and looked around at all the people. "So do you see anyone you know? Or do you just want to duck out of here and go and see the ship?"

[personal profile] craaazyisland 2009-08-03 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
He looked again, just in case.

"Nah," he said, shaking his head. "I don't know who there would be for me to find anyway." Well, he did, but with the way his luck was going he didn't dare hope that she'd be here. He wouldn't wish a crappy place like this on her anyway.

"Let's just get out of here."

[identity profile] madebymagic.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
He nodded and smiled softly. He wanted to get out and explore the ship since he first realized he was ON a ship. Space. It was so unreal to him, and his mind was buzzing with what was happening. He could feel his feet leave the floor for a second and dropped back down hoping Steve didn't notice it.

"Yeah, I'm sure if there's anyone here who knew you, they'd find you sooner or later. It's not like we're going somewhere."
