Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Kidnapping by psychic spaceship is probably the largest contributing factor to the bad-day status. (Hunter's also not particularly good at chemistry, except in how it relates to medicine.) "I can, um, speed up the body's regeneration processes. In specific targeted areas." Hunter says with a shrug. There's really no reason to be coy about it, not here.

Well that sure explained that.

"That sounds like a pretty useful power. If the people around here have been chosen for reasons, I can pretty much guess that little gift of yours will come in handy at some point. Most people in the "hero" profession get hurt more than they drink water." It was true. Even he'd had to go to the hospital once or twice.

"It's not so much a power as it is magic." Hunter says, glancing out the window again. "... well, to be honest, very specific magic."

"... the hero profession?" Hunter's world doesn't have superheroes, really, unless you count the special police divisions. Most people don't, just because of the lack of brightly-colored spandex and codenames and whatnot.

"Magic?" He blinked a few times and then broke into a giant grin. "I can do magic too. But it's more like altering reality to fit what I need. It's more easy to describe as magic, than anything else though." He continued to smile. At least he wasn't the only magic user on board.

"You know heroes... We save the world?"

Well, that was reassuring. He wasn't alone, even if the only other magic user was a sorceror. (Sorcerors tended to look down on the specialists, in Hunter's experience, although this guy didn't seem likely to do that.) "That's all magic is, though, isn't it? Basically, anyway." Hunter says, smiling in response.

"I didn't know the world needed saving." Hunter says thoughtfully. He'd have been happy to help if he'd known... in a strictly noncombatant sense, of course.

"I guess so. Magic's always been strange where I'm from. There's so many different people who use it, and in so many different ways. It's hard to keep them all straight." He again smiled brightly. He could think of a few people who used magic differently than him.

"Well my world certainly did. Though to tell you the truth, everyone was kinda failing at it. For the most part."

"Well, that's confusing. I mean, I know quite a few people who use magic, and I go to school with most of them, but it's all basically the same system." Hunter says thoughtfully.

"World-saving doesn't seem like something that'd be easy to do, thou-- oh. Alternate universes?" Hunter says, flicking a worried glance over at what's-his-face. Alternate universes added a whole new level of badness to the situation, at least in Hunter's opinion.

"A school for magic. Like Hogwarts?" He grinned as he said it, because really it was the only school he knew that taught magic, and it was fake.

"Probably why there's a bunch of people here that I know, but have never met in person. There are millions of alternate universes."

Hunter snorts. He's heard that comparison before, no doubt about it. "More like the X-Men, except without the world-saving. And spandex."

Yeah, this is turning out to be one of those days. "I thought alternate universes couldn't cross over because the universe would implode or something." Hunter says, baffled. (Admittedly, he got his alternate-universe theories from someone who didn't really know what she was talking about.)

"I know the X-Men. I've even fought alongside Wolverine." He smiled a bit and shook his head. "He's actually kind of crazy."

"Most of the time they can't. But this place seems to be in a situation where none of the rules apply."

"... um. That's..." Is there a polite way to say 'they're fictional where I'm from, and you probably are too'? There probably isn't. "He seems like it." Hunter says finally, giving up on the whole fictional thing.

He frowns for a minute. The way he was acting, not saying something he wanted to, covering up something. Well crap.

"Well Luke Skywalker's standing over there, and he's not real so.. I'm guessing neither am I. At least not to you. It's all rather reasonable, if not a bit freaky."

Well, that solved that problem. "The X-Men aren't, at least, and if you're from the same world they are then I think it'd be the same idea. It's weird to think about, though."

"... Luke Skywalker's-- oh, yeah he is. Cool."

"I don't even know. Maybe awesome? ... wonder if he's got his lightsaber?" Hunter asks idly, trying to get a better look at Luke Skywalker.

"Oh, right. I'm Hunter. Nice to meet you."

"I'm sure he does. Though it would suck if he didn't. I've always wanted to see one in person." Billy smiled a bit and tilted his head to try to see if he could see it.

"Nice to meet you too Hunter. I'm Billy."
