Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Bix is still wandering around, unused to being enclosed in such a techonlogical space. And yet, there is something distinctly living about this place too. Not unlike the strutters when they are powered up with sunstones, she thinks.

She also doesn't think she'll ever get this slimy substance out of her scales.

She would be surprised when she spotted one or both of the resident raptors.

One of said resident raptors has noticed Bix. They're larger than proper velociraptors would be, each around six feet tall, but it's the name they call themselves.

Sharp Tongue approaches with long, easy strides. The raptor carries herself in a self-important, dignified fashion. There's something civilized but primitive about her looks, her body is crossed by several long three claw slashes painted in red and white, and she carries a tooth-claw-and-feather decorated bag made of triceratops hide that hangs along her left side.

"Protoceratops," she says, eyeing the smaller dinosaur with curiosity. She'd been hoping there would be more raptors aboard, even if they were not from her tribe. She'll settle for another dino though, at least it's not a human.

"Remarkable" Bix replies. "I have never known other species to speak human tongues. Other than my own at least, and humans of course." She is mostly relaxed but aware of the body language and carriage of the raptor. Civilized raptors are trustworthy usually, but many still choose not to associate with humans. "Breathe deep, seek peace. I am Bix, ambassador from Waterfall City." She has no way of knowing as yet about the nature of this place or the many worlds represented in it. She can't know the raptor isn't DInotopian.

Ambassador. This is a word Sharp Tongue knows. The fact that the herbivore shows no fear of her throws her for a loop, and she latches onto that as something familiar. She's enver met an ambassador for another dinosaur species.

"I am Sharp Tongue, shaman's heir of the Swiftclaw Tribe," the raptor replies. That's the closest her kind really get to ambassadors, it's part of a shaman's duties to treat relatively peacefully with others.

"You speak of a city. Do you walk with humans then?" Sharp Tongue taps the tips of the big hunting claws on her feet against the floor, a tic of hers. She's thinking of the visions she received from The Spice before, remembering the human city as she had seen it.

She was perplexed at the raptor's lack of knowledge of Waterfall City. "Sometimes. I walk among many species, actually, in my work and my travels. I know though that some carnivores choose to remain true to the ways of their ancestors, to remain in the wilds."

"I had thought it was so for most of my kind," says Sharp Tongue. "Is it really so common to walk among the pinkskins?"

If it is, the trend is certainly worrisome and bodes ill for the size of raptor hunting territories. Sharp Tongue's own is already rather jealous of whatever land humanity manages to snatch away from it.

"It largely depends on what kind you are. Some do, while others prefer to live as you do. The island has room for many ways of life."
