Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Mai had heard something about a podpop and she'd figured that she might as well go stare at all of the new-comers. At least it would be something to do while she waited for Zuko to stop crawling around inside of Stacy's innards. Of course, she hadn't really expected to find anyone she knew, so Katara's presence was a bit of a surprise.

"Hey..." she tilted her head slightly, "...you're the Avatar's friend."

Katara turned to an all too familiar sounding voice sounding bored. She did a small double take, then grinned.

"Mai! Zuko's girlfriend! So there ARE other people from our universe here! I'm so happy to see you! Are there others from our world, like maybe...the Avatar? Is Aang here?"

At this point, she might even settle for Jet, not that it was really possible.

Oddly enough, Mai is rather relieved too. It's something familiar in this strange place. She bowed slightly, "Right. What was your name again?"

A pause as she considered her question, "...Zuko says he is. He's been looking for him since bfore I got here."

Sokka, having been engaged in deep conversation about boomerangs, chooses this moment to bound over to his sister and...

"Mai! Whoa! What are you doing here?" Okay, so maybe his theory about this place just wanting Water Tribe people was wrong. Which is kind of a relief, to tell the truth.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara is stunned. Who was she again? How did Mai forget her so quickly, especially after taking down her leader (former;y leader)?

"Mai,it's me, Katara. Its not like this is the first time we've met before. We've fought you, and we became friends after the war too, remember?"

Did Stacey make them forget things too? This was getting worse and worse.

This time she definitely heard Sokka, but her last question was one she definitely wanted an answer to. "What did he find out?"

[identity profile] grayaura.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
"...I got pulled here about... what? Four months ago now?"

Had it really been that long? And when she speaks next, there's a bit of bitterness in her voice.

"The war isn't over yet. Zuko just ran off to find you - that's the last thing I remember before getting pulled here. Well, that and he was in prison."

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka raises an eyebrow.

"Seriously? But that was a while ago. The war's over, Zuko's the Fire Lord..." He scratches his head, trying to figure this out.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
Katara paled a little. This was, without a doubt, the worse news she'd head. So that meant that with all they had done, it was possible to be dragged here from a different time period too? What if they brought Aang here before he'd even met them, before he'd met her. Katara exhaled sharply, realizing that the thought of it made her eyes start to well up, and she's definitely not going to do that in front of Sokka and Mai.

She took a breath, and calmed herself. No point in getting upset about this now. She'd have to just make do. She turned to Mai, looking level headed. "That's enough Sokka. We can't go and tell her what's happened in the future, it might affect her past if she knows about that, probably. Anyway, where could we find Zuko?"

[identity profile] grayaura.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Mai shrugged, "I don't know..." She leaned against one of the walls, cleaning her nails with one of her knives, "He likes to crawl through this thing's innards, so he'll show up when he wants to, covered in slime."

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sokka, as always, remains skeptic. "How do we know she's from a different time? Stacy might just make her forget stuff! There's a perfectly reasonable explanation for it, I'm sure."

He glanced back at Mai.

"He's...like...crawling around in giant living ship guts? Ew."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara sighed. "Why would Stacy bother to even do that? It seems pretty useless. Besides, we're 'needed to accomplish a great task' remember? Don't you think making our friend remember would be in her best interest? Besides, what you're saying is more illogical than what I'm saying anyway!"

Not that she would completely discount mind wipe, but it was a really REALLY creepy thought.

Katara giggled. "Well, that sounds like our Zuko."

[identity profile] grayaura.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," she responds sourly, "Exactly like Zuko."

Which is to say she's not at all pleased with him for crawling around in there. Even if she's not going to out and out stop him.

"And I don't remember the war ending. Pretty sure I'd remember that."

She huffs impatiently and folds her arms.

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka begins pacing back in forth, deep in thought.

"If we really are from different times, why would this thing take us like that? I mean, what if it decided to take Katara before she mastered waterbending? She wouldn't be all that useful for whatever this purpose is."

He pauses and glances nervously at Katara.

"If Katara got taken for her bending skills, I mean. Heh."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Katara made an angry noise. "I'm sure it didn't take me for my good looks and gentle nature, Sokka, and more than it did for your bad drawing skills! I don't know why they took Mai when they did, and honestly, we could be here all day asking ourselves why. The important thing is she IS here, and we might as well start by calling a truce."

After all, what good was going to come out of them fighting if Mai didn't trust them? There had to be some kind of agreement somewhere between the three of them that they would fight for the same cause. It was lucky enough they were all pulled from the same world.

[identity profile] found-myway.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
What a convenient time for Zuko to notice the grouping of many people he knows!

It surprises him that Mai is talking to them civilly. He knows she fought with them on more than one occasion. Maybe she needs backup . . .? But no, no violence appears to be happening. Angry words, it seems, are not even being exchanged. How weird.

This throws a bit of a wrench in his plans to prostrate himself before the Avatar and Crew when he met them again and put himself at the mercy of their honor. That would just be overdramatic right now, so the Prince of the Fire Nation stands around looking like a doof for a moment as he wonders what to say to get their attention (and figure out how to apologize in THIS setting.)

"Uh . . . maybe, 'Hello -' Yeah, 'Hello' is good -"

[identity profile] grayaura.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Mai raises a brow at the two of them, "Truce? I'm not exactly attacking either of you. Stacy would seperate us anyway. I don't really care what you do or if you trust me or not. It's not like our fighting was personal or anything."

Which is true. She came along because Azula wanted her to come. She does spot Zuko and she slides over to him. Not incredibly big on PDAs yet, she settles for just slipping in next to him, "I told you he'd show up."

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Sokka's eyes follow Mai and he brightens immediately when he sees Zuko. He grins, crossing his arms.

"Hey, Zuko! Now all we need is Toph and Aang and we'll have a complete set." The last is said rather sarcastically, but in a good natured way, more teasing than angry. Steps over to give Zuko a slap on the shoulder, pausing before he does so to make sure Zuko isn't covered in gunk.

"How long have you been here? And is Aang really here? Mai said you were looking for him."

[identity profile] found-myway.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh God Sokka's touching him he's touching him. Zuko tries not to show his discomfort.

"Uh . . . . yeah, I guess."

Nobody seems to hate his guts. This is . . . strange. But there are more important things to deal with.

"Aang's already here. The ship is holding him hostage. I've been trying to find him."

((Since Katara is getting to know people on the ship, she's just wandered off, so you can keep posting. Specifically, I don't want her knowing about Aang just yet.))
