Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

"Me Rufus." To Sokka's question of what a spaceship Rufus jabs toward the window. "Space," and then waves around his hands to encompass the room. "Ship."

Katara giggled at Sokka's facefault. She knew he wanted a more detailed explanation than that, but everything she'd seen so far was blowing her mind to begin with. She'd settle, if only for the moment, with this creature's explanation. She HAD to ask what he was.

"Well, nice to meet you Rufus," Katara said, the general pleasantness she usual didn't feel rekindled with this little guy. "I'm new so, I'm a little curious: what are you?"

"Me naked mole rat."

Sokka was still grumbling in the background.

"Oh come on, that doesn't explain anything? What the heck is 'space?' Besides, you know, the area between things?"

"A...naked mole rat?" Well, that was a first. The mole and rat part she understood, but weren't most animals naked to begin with? Maybe animals in his world had clothes...she'd have to bask about that.

Attentive to her brother's grumbling, she sighed. "Sorry, he doesn't mean to be so grouchy, but we're a long way from home. In our wildest dreams, we would never imagine something like this. Was it a shock to you too?"

"Hnnk. Sorta. Me used to weird."
