Excerise is good for you! [Open!]
While Diana was never one for overly exercising, usually doing just enough to keep herself in her wonderful curved shape, she did see that the whole ‘clears your mind’ thing was somewhat accurate.
And her mind felt very crowded. Plus, she couldn’t argue the disadvantages of being in top physical condition when the ship went to heck for the millionth time.
So, she deck out the sensorium into her own gym. A bit of running, then maybe some swimming with Jinx if she texted her to come over.
True, by the end of this day she’d most likely be over worked, sore and far too tired, but that almost meant she’d want nothing more than to drift into a dreamless sleep without any weight of past event or futures worries.
Provisions had recently discovered the wonders of sky dancing and so spent him time diving and twirling in the air high above Diana’s head, apart from when she was shooting, then he would peck at the ground near her feet to avoid the possibility of stray bullets.
Re: Firing Range
And Hit Girl liked this.
"Gotten better," she remarked. "If you hadn't, I would have stopped the sessions. I knew you'd be stubborn enough to get it."
And don't mind her bruises and cuts: its Hit Girl, after all.
Re: Firing Range
Provisions used the time to fly over to Hit Girl and land on her shoulder, nuzzling her cheek with his feathery head and gurgling in greeting. At first, the bird had been very cautious around the purple haired girl, but after figuring out it was the same girl who he'd seen regularly when Diana had to carry him around and bring him to work as a chick and fledgling, he'd become alot more affectionate.
"That's me, very stubborn. I'm glad you're the same though, otherwise if you cancelled class I wouldn't get to see you as much." It was a tease, of course, because Diana would see Mindy regularly at work and in her leisure time occasionally, but she had to admit, meeting Mindy when she was Hit Girl was rather fun, if only because the younger girl tried to separate the two identities in a way Diana only found amusing.
Re: Firing Range
And yes, it was an ego boost, but she didn't go into that.
The bird, she admitted, she'd grown fond of too: she had never had a pet before, and really? It would have been helpful back when she was being raised, considering all she had been through. Then again, where she was from likely they would have used that as leverage anyway. In this place, it was comforting.
"Yeah, what the hell. I missed you too, temptress," she shot back, amused. "And now I know all that teaching wasn't in vain. Good too: I don't wanna have to go and pick up your brains off the floor if some new bullshit happens on the ship."
Which was really code for her saying she'd be really sad if something happened to her.
"How you holdin' up?"
Re: Firing Range
At the concealed concern from Hit Girl, something akin to endearment flashed across Diana's features before she raised her gun to start shooting once again, knowing the bangs wouldn't bother Hit Girl in any way.
"You know me, I'm always just peachy."
Re: Firing Range
It was a compliment! Kind of!
"Yeah, whatever. You know I was going to be worried. After Howard and Cedric croaked, it became a big thing to make sure you don't die on me. But you don't need me talking about it. Continue."
Re: Firing Range
"It's always nice to know you're worried about me." She continued firing until the clip in the handgun was empty before turning to smile at Hit Girl again. "Actually, since I've not seen you in awhile, why don't you come over here, cutie boss, and give me a quick catch up session?"
Re: Firing Range
"Yeah well, its not like I can afford to lose my waitress at the Cafe since my cook is already MIA, right? And he was all bragging in his skills and everything. I was actually looking forward to trying more of his stuff."
She imagined the handgun, and it was in her hand. Something felt...different, like almost as if the gun was the lightest thing in the world. Hit Girl looked dubious about this, but shrugged and fired off a few shots.
But it was different. It was as if time wasn't going fast enough, and in the blur of an eye she'd fired the whole clip and met her mark, but much faster than she had EVER before.
"What-" she stammered, then thought about it. She'd had that hand before. Was this the cause?
Re: Firing Range
Diana raised her eyebrows, genuinely impressed with Hit Girls efficiency, not that it was going to stop her from teasing.
She put on a fake half-pout, sighing dramatically and placing her hands on her hips. "You can't let me have one thing, can you? You just had to show me up."
Seeing Hit Girl's own surprise she cast her a questioning look. "Something wrong?" Another smirk. "Did you forget how good you were? You're such a modest one."
Re: Firing Range
Some of it was, but it was really the other fights too. Between that guy that was a kind of power ranger or something and the last fight, she had to use the hands ability to fight them.It was all about channeling strength and using this extra part of yourself: in a way, like flexing. What Hit Girl hadn't realized was what she would do when she lost those powers.
She started. "Hey, I'm no supe or a mutant. I'm proud enough of what I do, but that doesn't mean I can't still get better."
So no kissing her own ass, not now. If someone else wanted to do it though, who was she to object?
Re: Firing Range
Smirking, she reached up and touched Hit Girl's cheek with her fingertips. "Though, we're both pretty skilled at what we do."
Re: Firing Range
At the touch, she chuckled. "Yeah, I've started to realize that. For all I know, they might come in handy one day, with an enemy."
Re: Firing Range
"Trust me." She leaned her face in closer. "It's more than handy."
Re: Firing Range
Of course. "Yeah? Like how?"
Re: Firing Range
Diana reached her hand up to Hit Girl's cheek and softly brushed the bruised area under eye with her thumb before moving her lips to touch them against the marked skin in a featherlight way in something that wasn't quite a kiss. "Like that." She pulled back, eyelashes stroking across Hit Girls cheek as she did, that sly look on her face.
Re: Firing Range
And then she did that, which left Hit Girl quiet a moment before finally breaking the silence with a chuckle. "You know, I used to flirt a little, before I started to get into Ruffnut. I gotta say, you put me to shame."
Having that body of hers definitely helped too.
Re: Firing Range
Re: Firing Range
With that reply, though, she gave Diana a smirk. "Oh I can pull it off, but there's only one person that gets to see it."
Re: Firing Range
Re: Firing Range
"Damn right. Of all the people on the ship I might want, a crazed viking with bad hair and freckles was who I wanted. But hell, you'll have to see her for yourself, and you'll know why I'm with her."
Re: Firing Range
Yes, she'd actually caught occasional glimpses of Ruffnut, usually when the viking dropped by the cafe to see Mindy, but they'd never gotten past casual nods of acknowledgment.
Putting on her sly, teasing voice again, Diana continued. "I'm beginning to think you're making her up to try and make me jealous, boss."
Re: Firing Range
Almost, anyway.
"In your dreams," she said, smirking. "I'd be flirting it up right along with you if Ruffnut wasn't here? Why not? You're not in it to be serious, and for someone like me, that works fine. But then she came and...well, she changed all of that."
Re: Firing Range
Diana couldn't help rolling her eyes at that little speech. "Of course, the whole 'she's the one' thing." She twirled a lock of her hair around her finger idly, clearly unimpressed by tales of love and affection. "They have a name for that kind of thing, 'puppy love' I think they call it."
Re: Firing Range
She smiled to herself. That's part of the reason why, anyway.
"I kinda expect better from you than that, Diana," Hit Girl said, looking a little disappointed. "What the hell makes you think I'd be wasting my time with stupid shit like that? I have better things to do than indulge in half hearted hormonal crap. Never think I do anything not worth the effort again. It's insulting."
Which really, is actually another hidden compliment. What was Hit Girl doing at the moment? She was talking and going back and forth with Diana. Still, she was more than a little annoyed at the suggestion she didn't know the difference between fucking puppy love and what she had.
Re: Firing Range
Diana's disinterest quickly turned to amusement at Hit Girls reaction, taunting smile spread across her face. "And I expect you to know how I work by now, cutie."
Provisions began making a noise that sounded exactly like a cackle at Hit Girls expense.
Re: Firing Range
"Puppy love. Jesus. Guess I fell for that one. Then again, its not something I don't expect people to think."
Nevermind that those two were far from being in a stage like that. Apparently Hit Girl was far more sensitive than she thought.
"No one ask you, birdo," she said to Provisions, sticking out her tongue in a moment of extreme maturity.
