Meet and Greet
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.
Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.
There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.
[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. Big brother/sister, there will be a thread for you as well!]

"Do you know what qualifies a person to be one of the Chosen?" he asked quietly, mind flashing to the phone in his left front pocket. Harry. Clara. Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade, Stamford, Bill Murray and his wife, Molly, Sara, were any of them on board? Their families? Their friends?
The world was an enormous place, much less an entire universe. What qualified him and Sherlock to survive where others hadn't?

"We don't know. We do know that family and close friends are often taken with us, though there are no guarantees. We also don't have any way of knowing who is in the pods. A pirate attack left some of Stacy's systems damaged." He knew exactly what John was worried about, and figured it'd be best to answer the questions he knew would follow immediately.

His interest was piqued. If he'd heard any of that about loved ones, it didn't register, but it would creep up on him later and kick him in the back of the head. It just took him a while sometimes.

"Right," he said. Nodded to Kang again, more sharply this time. "Thanks."
Then he swung around like a gun turret and punched Sherlock in the jaw.
The tentacles, it seemed, weren't limited to the caves with all of the people in pods. A set reached down and pulled John away from Sherlock before he could finish shaking off his hand. Stacy tried to tell him something about not attacking crew members, but John was a little busy shouting at Sherlock to listen.
"You unbelievable git!" he roared. "You INCONSIDERATE ARSEHOLE! YOU MADE ME WATCH YOU--"
One of the tentacles wrapped itself gently but firmly over his mouth before he could attach any other combinations of adjectives and nouns to Sherlock's identity.

Being punched in the face by John Hamish Watson was the sort of thing that one didn't really want to have happen more than once, and considering this was the second time Sherlock'd had to go through it, he was almost glad the tentacles grabbed John before he managed a third. Then again, he'd have had to drag Sherlock off the floor to do it a third time, because the punch had knocked him right back on his arse.
He really was only almost glad the tentacles stopped John. They were a bit unnerving, which is why it alarmed him to see them wrapping around his friend.
"Put him down!" he called out to the ship, holding his hand to his chin. "Right this instant!"
If they did something to John because he'd punched him when it had been perfectly well-deserved...

He'd heard the explanation that Sherlock had given him back in the pod caves; about the hired assassins and Mrs. Hudson and Lestrade and him, about making sure that Moriarty hadn't left behind instructions to have them killed if Sherlock survived. It was perfectly understandable, it made a certain amount of sense.
But that didn't mean that Sherlock had to bloody well make him watch.
Once he stopped struggling, the tentacles deposited him back down on the floor, putting some distance between him and Sherlock. John didn't move to attack him again, just clenched his jaw and gesticulated wordlessly at him.
"I cannot believe you sometimes!" he hissed furiously, then turned away abruptly to look at Kang again. "Sorry Councilor," he said, reeling his rage back and tucking it away until he needed it again, "is there anything else that I urgently need to know? I need some time to digest this information."

Their argument was getting in the way of finding out about the end of the universe--or was it the other way around?
"John, I told you why I did it. It had to be done."
There was something oddly desperate about how he looked at him. Maybe he wasn't outwardly reacting to Kang's explanations, but it seemed like the more drastic the news was, the more important it seemed to him that his friend wasn't angry at him.

A muscle in his jaw twitched, and he turned back to Sherlock. "Yes, you did; and yes, I know; and yes, your actions make sense. That does not change the fact that I am bloody furious with you!"
He was not a man entirely without empathy, however. He sighed and closed his eyes, and spoke without opening them. "Look, we'll talk about this later, all right?"
no subject
"Speak with Dr. Faiza Hussain, then. She's the head of our Medical department."

He'd waited three whole months!
And had the emotional maturity of a small child. NOW NOW NOW.
no subject
"I'll do that, thanks," John said to Kang before turning back to Sherlock. "Or we could talk about it later."
Then, because subtle tonal arguments weren't Sherlock's "area" anymore than sexuality was, John clarified, "when I am less furious with you."

"Explain the view beyond the window."
What exactly were they seeing?
