Meet and Greet
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.
Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.
There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.
[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. Big brother/sister, there will be a thread for you as well!]

"I think I'll need directions there later," she declared firmly, and smiled. "I might have to spend a few weeks in there catching up."

"It's a really amazing place. I spent the better part of my arrival here getting to know everything I could through there. I still visit it often to do research or simply to relax. I can mark it on your omnicomm if you'd like," she added with a cheerful yet timid smile as she pulled out her own.
"Maybe we could meet up there once you get settled in."

"I'd appreciate that," she said warmly, offering her omnicomm to Ronnae for the promised marking. "Tell me," she went on after a moment, "is your world anything like this? With small communication devices and gigantic spaceships?"
She knew she wasn't the only person here from a low-tech world, but the reassurance would be nice.

At the inquiry, Ronnae shook her head lightly. "Not at all. I mean, we have magic and technology and magitech... but this is just really out there. It took a lot of research for me to adjust my engineering knowledge to be able to work for the Engineering department here on board."

Anyway, Ronnae's statement about Engineering made her feel a bit better for her lack of knowledge. "As long as fire still burns properly, I should be okay in my department," she said, a bit amused by the idea. (If fire didn't work, she'd have to reevaluate the laws of science.)

Ronnae mused with a cheery smile, getting more comfortable being around Presea.

"Well, I was trained to it from a child. I've never known anything else... but I've never wanted to. Your mama is probably the same way. Thank you," she added. "I have a friend with interest in Engineering, and I've always thought he picked the difficult path!"

"It can be yes! There's so much to do sometimes and sometimes we make it harder on ourselves by overthinking things when the answer is much simpler." Ronnae laughed a little.
"I swear, sometimes crafters are our own worse critics. We can be so hard on ourselves."
