Meet and Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. Big brother/sister, there will be a thread for you as well!]

Mashu gasps, "You're different too! Are you an asset? Or just another human?! Or something else? Well you kinda look humanish sort of?"

Well, Mashu was definitely not going to making many friends today probably!

"I am not a human," Ildraniath replies coldly, "Nor am I an... 'asset'. Whatever that means. I am an Eldar."

She says that like it's supposed to mean something to Mashu.

"Eldar?" she asked curiously. "So if you're not human, and not an asset, thennnnn, huh. This place is interesting! What's an Eldar?!" she asked excitedly, wanting to know more about this personthingnot!human!

Joy. Ildraniath mentally grits her teeth.

"The Eldar are a race of ancient beings, powerful beyond human comprehension."

In other words: better than everyone around them.

"So you're like Masakaki? Or maybe the Elders of Midas. Does that mean that you could warp reality?! Can you create other worlds?! That would be pretty amazing..." she then stopped and looked around before turning back to face her.

"You don't like it here very much do you."

"How perceptive of you," Ildraniath replied dryly, "No. I do not. It is as close to a prison as I've ever been in."

She carefully side-stepped the first barrage of questions.

[personal profile] yourbelovedfuture 2012-04-04 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"I figured it was mostly because of the vast amount of human or human looking residents. You seemed displeased at the mention of them. Last I found someone like that, they really thought the worst of them."

And then again, considering some of the things that normally drive some humans, Mashu can sort of understand.

"I have a... dim view of humanity as a whole," Ildraniath sniffed, "They tend to be brutish, primitive and wholly unable to see the universe outside of their own narrow, idiotic viewpoint."

Of course, that's true for a lot of people in Ildraniath's opinion.

"They certainly aren't worth much, on the whole."
yourbelovedfuture: (Hm...)

"I won't disagree with you on those points." Mashu mused as she floated in place, looking around behind her as she studied everyone in the room.

"Seems like they're the same wherever you go huh? I wonder if they're as greedy and selfish as the ones back home." Well everyone except Kimimaro and Mikuni... but there's always an exception to the rule.
futureisclear: (Unsure?)

[personal profile] futureisclear 2012-04-04 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"They probably are. If not more so. The same everywhere you go, really," Ildraniath mused, "Some of them are decent. For humans. But in the end they're only mon-keigh."
yourbelovedfuture: (Bored)

[personal profile] yourbelovedfuture 2012-04-05 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Mon-keigh... That sounds more interesting than human... Is that what they're called in your world?" Mashu asked curiously. "It's a bit annoying that the traits seems to bridge worlds." she added with a huff.

"It's what the Eldar call them," Ildraniath said with just the hint of a smile, "Because it is a name they deserve."

Although Ildraniath exuded arrogance herself.

"It's human nature. Nothing to be done about it. Perhaps they might be fixed, if they were willing to listen."

"That already tells me they don't listen here either, they're stubborn and unwilling to learn even when you're placing it right in their face," she replied with an annoyed scoff.

Damn you Kimimaro why couldn't you get the idea!

"Well, with the seeming variety of creatures here... How do things run? I really do hope it's smoothly..."

[personal profile] futureisclear 2012-04-05 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"We supposedly have a council to deal with civilian affairs and a command chain to deal with the military side of things. Both seem woefully dysfunctional, however. They're either not around to be talked with or they ignore you in favor of their own pet issues," Ildraniath replied.

Her? Bitter?

Never.

"I see, this will definitely take some getting used to." Coming from the highly organized Financial District and the lords of Midas running everything on the millisecond, being somewhere disorganized is going to be immensely annoying.

Mashu spun in the air, looking in all directions to take the room in once more and sighing. "If this is a war, there'll be battles, battles use up resources... please tell me that those managing the crew's resources are competent at least." she said a bit exasperated. Wasteful spending of resources was not something she enjoyed unless they could have gain.
