It Was a Graveyard Smash! [OPENTASTIC]

The Sensoriums are decorated like the most well-tended and enthusiastically holiday-oriented suburb Southern California could have created. Jack-O-Lanterns grin out from driveways and porches; smoke machines belch out onto the sidewalk; orange-tinted Christmas lights twinkle from the rooftops. A loop of Halloween-themed music, from the Monster Mash to Thriller, plays over the scene.

Eva knows there aren't many children on Stacy, but that doesn't mean that the ones here shouldn't have the occasional holiday. Just because they lack a calendar doesn't mean they lack a festive spirit. Besides, almost all kids like candy and she was able to purchase plenty at the theme park and in Geartopia.

Each house has some hologram families giving out candies and chocolates, as well as small toys and little origami animals. Every hologram is dressed up in a ridiculous costume of some sort.

She flits from house to house, imagining up little details to add, dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit she finds unbearably humorous. After sending out a message on the channels, she waits for guests to arrive.

Ruffnut accepted it with a "Thank you" and offered Mindy first bite of her massive taffy ball.

"Best way we can show him we care is do what he says and get stronger." She mused popping the sucker in her mouth and making the sour pucker face again.

Mindy took the taffy gladly, then plopped a little on her nose just for fun.

"But we pretty much always do that," she said, chewing in the taffy thoughtfully. "Think maybe we should ask Lash if there's something, I dunno, special we can do for him?"

A seemingly impossibly long tongue snaked out from Ruffnut's mouth to clean her nose while she thought about it.

"Do you think she'd know better though? I think we probably spend about as much time with him as she does.

That was impressive, albeit a little unexpected, with the tongue thing. Mindy tossed her a jawbreaker.

"I dunno, but I'd rather him not feeling all...whatever he's feeling. I mean, what do Overlords get mad about anyway?"

She caught it in her mouth with practiced ease and began gnawing on it missing the point of a Jawbreaker.

"Being disrespected, being under estimate." Ruff counted off on her fingers, "Being teased...but I don't think those things would really get him bummed out for long."

"Dude no, you don't gnaw it, you have to suck on it for a little while," Mindy advised. "There's a reason these things are called jawbreakers."

Mindy snorted. "They shouldn't. And who underestimates him? We all know he's bad ass and could kill us if he wanted to. Nah, I'm thinking something else is bumming him out. But maybe he'd only say it to Lash, if he's say it to anybody to begin with."

That was the tricky thing with that guy: getting him to admit there was a problem to begin with.

"Boys are dumb." Ruffnut agreed sucking on the candy now as per instructed. She was of coarse ignoring the fact that she herself would probably do the same and not talk about her problems if she had any.

Mindy was definitely not saying that: Zetta, after all, was as far from a boy as one could really get, and she knew for a fact that all FOUR of them were like that, only in different degrees.

She Ruff and Lash were all pretty young so they were at least supposed to be moody and sullen. What was his excuse?

"But you know, I really haven't seen you train lately. We should get on that."

Ruff smirked and stuck her tongue out, "Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it ain't happening." She shot back playfully.

"Oh really?" Mindy said, looking amused. "I'll tell you what: if you can actually take me down after this? I'll be your slave for a day. But if you can't you're training with me every day for two weeks, EARLY. And I don't wanna hear any whining either."

"What would I do with a slave for a day? It's not like I have any chores." Ruffnut pointed out her lack of creativity. "And you already clean up parts of the tower when you get bored."

"I clean up parts of the tower because it has to get done, dumb ass," Mindy said, nudging her with her hip. "Anyway, use your head: a slave for a day means they have to do whatever horrible, crappy thing you don't want to do. I'm pretty sure you can think of some stuff you wouldn't want to do on your own, right?"

Ruffnut considered this and thought.

And thought.

And thought.

And thought.

And thought some more.

"Nah...no one really makes me do anything I don't want to do anymore." She had pretty much done whatever she wanted since coming to Stacy, save for being forced onto missions or into testing by Stacy.

"Then what would you suggest?" Mindy asked, as sweetly as she could.

This was so she didn't strangle Ruffnut.

Ruffnut pondered this as well, how in the multiverse could she keep so calm with so much sugar in her system.

"I suggest taking some of these cookie things? And putting Taffy between them. Then heating them up." She used her lightning to demon strait an the taffy went gooey making a messy sandwich.

Now she was just being annoying on purpose.

"Ruffnut, I will seriously kick your ass. Come on. Make a bet with me on this already."

Mindy shook her head. "Sugar and Ruffnut. Already she realized she made a monster.

"You don't have anything I want that I can't get." Ruff called back in a sing song teasing voice.

"You know, that could change," Mindy said, looking slightly irritated. "Now come on. This could actually be a pretty fun bet."

"Geeze you must really want to train with me more then we already do." Ruff smirked suggestively. "Either that or you really wanna get your butt kicked."

Make this easy on you? Don't be silly Mindy. Someone has to establish dominance around here.

"Are you kidding?" Mindy scoffed. "I wanna train with you because you're my girlfriend now. That means if you start sucking, the Overlord's gonna blame ME. Now its my rep on the line too. Hopefully you can keep up, but I doubt it."

Yes Ruffnut. Someone does.

Ruffnut stuck her tongue out in defiance. "As if I would stop being awesome for something like that. Why the hell would that even happen? It's not like all that much has changed." At least it didn't seem that way to Ruffnut. They still hung out about as much as they always did. Really the only change was a sort of sense of entitlement. A feeling that she was more special then someone else.

"I'll prove it to you so hard you won't be able to sit down for a week."

Whatever was implied there was entirely on accident.

"Hey, you don't have to convince me. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still going to be awesome. I swear, if I listened to all the people who told me to take it easy, there might be a chance I'd slip, but not likely. Still, if and when the Overlord finds out, I don't want him saying we got soft."

And here, Mindy did face palm a little bit. "Um, why won't I be able to sit down for a week? Are you planning on spanking me or something?"

Choose a better way to phrase, Ruffnut.

"Damn right!"

Nope, no thinking of better phrases, no thinking really.

Mindy just stared, with her mouth hanging open.

"Y...you do know what spanking is, right?"

Ruffnut loomed over Mindy and leaned forward, "Don't get excited. It just means I'm gonna kick your butt."
