trans_9 | It Was a Graveyard Smash! [OPENTASTIC]

The Sensoriums are decorated like the most well-tended and enthusiastically holiday-oriented suburb Southern California could have created. Jack-O-Lanterns grin out from driveways and porches; smoke machines belch out onto the sidewalk; orange-tinted Christmas lights twinkle from the rooftops. A loop of Halloween-themed music, from the Monster Mash to Thriller, plays over the scene.

Eva knows there aren't many children on Stacy, but that doesn't mean that the ones here shouldn't have the occasional holiday. Just because they lack a calendar doesn't mean they lack a festive spirit. Besides, almost all kids like candy and she was able to purchase plenty at the theme park and in Geartopia.

Each house has some hologram families giving out candies and chocolates, as well as small toys and little origami animals. Every hologram is dressed up in a ridiculous costume of some sort.

She flits from house to house, imagining up little details to add, dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit she finds unbearably humorous. After sending out a message on the channels, she waits for guests to arrive.

[OOC: Everybody, go forth and mingle, have fun with the setting, TP some houses, whatever! Please threadjack, start your own threads, and go wild. The Halloweentown mini-plot will be in this post later tonight with those players, but the rest of the post is open for everyone.]

"I noticed," she said, rolling her eyes. "Does anything you do phase me? Yeah: you need take baths more often! Your viking smell can only get so ripe before you have the ability to kill someone Ruff!"

She elbowed the girl playfully.

Ruff elbowed her right back, "A vikings first line of defense is their smell!" She countered, though really that was just supposed to be a joke among viking men.

And then a strange thing happened, something Ruff had never experienced before. She began to question if there was more to what Mindy had said then just teasing. Sure she sounded like she was joking around but what if it was a real concern? She vowed to sniff herself when Mindy wasn't looking to see. Maybe a daily shower wouldn't be an awful thing. It's not like it bothered her to clean up she just tended to forget.

Well, she wouldn't lie: it was much easier to hang around Ruffnut if she bathed a little more thoroughly. During a training session it didn't matter: they weren't there to be clean and nice. But on dates, or outings? It's be nice.

"Hey, just curious: when did you start to take care of your hair? You usually didn't touch it until recently. I like it."

Ruffnut's cheeks went rosy and she squirmed a little mutter, "Um...well actually it's a wig." A lame joke about the fact she was still wearing a Hit Girl costume.

Then she laughed and looked away embarrassed, "I guess, it was that modeling competition you know?"

"No stupid, not the wig," she said dismissively. She walked up to Ruffnut and pulled the wig off, touching the girl's blonde hair lightly.

"It's all soft and stuff now. What, did the modeling people give you free hair tips?"

Ruff nodded "Y-yeah well...they over did it on the makeup but they were ok with the hair stuff. So I had them give me some um...they called it product to use when I shower."

"You are such a girl," Mindy teased, snickering a little, but still patting the older girl's hair. "The hair thing I don't mind, but make up is retarded. You look awesome just how you are, and no sissy man children are gonna tell you otherwise."

Now Ruffnut's face was totally red from the compliments, "W-well thanks...you look awesome too." She mumbled sheepishly the words feeling clunky as they fell from her mouth without much thought.

Mindy grinned, then reached over and gave her girlfriend a kiss. "Oh, I know it. But it helps to hear it from you too. I mean, you are the person who's opinion I gave the most of a shit about with that, right?"

The kiss did nothing to lessen Ruffnut's blush or embarrassment, someone whistled and catcalled which made her lash out and send a burning bright ball of lightning spinning through the air to blow a hole in someone's house.

"well good...because it should!" she managed to add.

Mindy snickered. "Just don't think that because you're my girlfriend you get a free ride. I expect you to kick ass just like you always do. In fact, I expect you to be the best. I know you can do it."

"Pfft." Ruffnut shoved Mindy playfully, "Well duh, of coarse. Like I'm gonna stop being awesome." She started for the porch where her candy bag was waiting.

"Well if you keep shoving candy down your throat, I can't imagine you even being able to take me on properly," she said, shrugging. "And speaking of awesome, tell me: how much better HAVE you gotten?"

"Better at what fighting?" She asked confused diving into her candy sack to produce a sucker and pop it into her mouth thoughtfully.

"Reflexes. Skill. Throwing. Come on Ruff, you gotta keep track of how you're doing. Even if we have to start at a low level when we became Overlords, I want to know I have enough knowledge to get me ahead of most typical demons. I'm not content at just being a decent Overlord: I want to be one of the best."

Ruffnut got that look on her face, the discouraged one she got when it suddenly dawned on her that she was doing something wrong simply by not thinking about it. Mindy had spent enough time around her it was familiar by now.

"I dunno!" She groaned shrugging, "I just do the work and get better I don't think that hard about it. I'm gonna be the best so long as I keep practicing." She was a little defensive if only to try and make it sound believable that she was keeping up with Mindy.

Mindy sighed. "Not that I don't believe you, but even you have to start keeping up on some things. You don't get better just on the fly. Now you're not going to train like I am, but I at least want to make sure that you can do things good enough you can figure out how they work on your own. That's just fighter basics."

She grinned. "I got good learning the basics, then improvising and making them work. But I also know if I learn something new, and test it out, I can get stronger too. I know you hate having to sit and learn, but when you get the benefits of it, why hate it?"

"Hey come on now..." She felt a little more defensive, "It's not like I don't know what I'm doing. I kick plenty of ass." She had come a long way from where she'd started when she first woke up on Stacy, even if she wasn't aware just how far. Zetta would be the best judge.

Mindy grinned, "Then you're going to have to shut me up about it soon. You know me Ruff: I like to have fun, but I'm also a workaholic. It's not worth wanting to be the best if you can't set the goal. But whatever: we can train later. Right now, we have candy to get to, right?"

She was beginning to learn when to needle Ruffnut and when to back off. It was true though: as Ruff's girlfriend now, she wanted to see her get stronger all the time. She had amazing potential.
